“I sent those [cancellation] Tweets because I went through an emotional situation,” Feldman says in an interview with The Source. “I looked at my kids and I got emotional. I didn’t sleep for three days because I’m trying to figure out how this thing happened. As of right now, the fight is not canceled.
“Right now we’re in meetings as we talk,” Feldman adds. “Zimmerman still wants to fight, but I’m trying to find out what direction to go in. I have a plan, though.”
While DMX is a potential opponent in a boxing match with Zimmerman, the match-up has not been confirmed. If DMX is not involved, Feldman says he has received “major offers from people in Hip Hop.”
DMX’s representative Domenick Nati recently addressed the boxing match in a statement to HipHopDX.
“Damon Feldman has announced that the George Zimmerman fight is cancelled via his Twitter,” Nati said in a statement. “As previously stated, DMX never agreed to the fight and we thank you for all of the support from DMX’s fans. This situation will not affect any of DMX’s upcoming concerts in America or around the world.” When asked if DMX would not be involved in the fight in the future, Nati said, “I can’t say that yet.”
A petition has been started to stop the boxing match from taking place. More than 72,000 people have signed the petition at press time. More on the petition can be viewed here.
