Rick Ross & Jeezy "Mastermind" Collaboration "War Ready" Release Date

UPDATE: Jeezy, Rick Ross and Mike WiLL Made-It have collaborated on "War Ready" off "Mastermind." The track drops today.

Rick Ross and Jeezy have had an ongoing feud since at least 2010, but the two appear to have settled their differences on an upcoming Mike WiLL Made-It-produced track.

"Rick Ross ft Young Jeezy prod. By Mike WiLL Made-It, Eardrumas... #MadeItMafia #Mastermind," Mike WiLL said in a Twitter update yesterday (February 3).

In September 2012, Ross and Jeezy were involved in an altercation at the BET Hip-Hop Awards. Funkmaster Flex, who reported the altercation on Twitter, said Jeezy and Ross did more than exchange words. "Jeezy and Rick Ross just had words backstage!! Pushing and shoving!!!" he said in a Twitter update. "Beef just spread to the parking lot!!! Shots fired in parking lot!!! Gunman arrested!!! Back to the show and Club later!!!"

Footage of the brawl between Jeezy and Ross can be seen here

Jeezy addressed the altercation days after the reports of their scuffle were published

"I mean first of all, it was a great awards show," Jeezy said at the time. "I mean basically, it was just a good show. I went there, got out with Wiz, it was cool, we did our thing. So in the hallway, we're walking out whatever whatever. So me and him never really seen each other face to face before, and I just felt like he spoke, I spoke, and that was basically it. But at the end of the day, it's been going on for a while so I just felt like if it was to be handled, it should have been handled there. We either gon' get past it or keep moving. So in my words, I just feel like a lot of these cats are actor rappers. And I'm Jeezy - they could never be me. That's just pretty much that.

"At the end of the day, I refuse to be part of this WWF propaganda and B.S. to sell records," Jeezy continued. "If that's who you want to be, you want to be a tough guy, you be that way. I'm a boss, I'm a G. That's just how it is."

In December 2012, Ross spoke about his feud with Jeezy and about what he would do the next time he saw the rapper. "You gotta understand, with me it's nothing personal," he said at the time, as per MTV. "I'm a hands-on-type dude. I'm better with my hands than I am at making music. So it's not personal, but if I see Young Jeezy again, will I try to choke him? I don't know. That's an option. If I see 50 Cent, is it personal? Not at all, but it's an option."

Ross announced his Jeezy collaboration approximately two weeks ago with an Instagram post.

Mike WiLL's Twitter update announcing the Jeezy-Ross collaboration can be seen below.

(February 4)

UPDATE: Rick Ross' Jeezy collaboration "War Ready" is scheduled to be released today (February 7) at 5 p.m. Ross made this announcement on Twitter and the announcement can be found below.

  • Rick Ross's Hood Dreams

Rapper's lawyer, cop agree that ex-screw never ran with street gangs FEBRUARY 9--The rapper Rick Ross would have his fans believe that he made millions trafficking cocaine while running with one of Miami's violent street gangs. Of course, that claim took a hit recently with the disclosure that Ross (real name: William Leonard Roberts) actually once worked as a corrections officer, news that was met with derision in hip-hop circles. Now, records show that Ross's own lawyer last year disputed reports that the performer has ever been affiliated with any gang. Ross's purported hoodlum connections were explored last April during a deposition of Officer Rey Hernandez, a Miami Beach cop who arrested Ross in January 2008 on gun and marijuana charges (one of the few blemishes on Ross's rap sheet). As seen in the below transcript excerpts, Ross's lawyer, Allan Zamren, asked Hernandez why Ross's case was assigned to the gang task force. "Because your client claims affiliation with Carol City Cartel and other known gang members," Hernandez replied. The cop then directed Zamren to "some literature or video on U-Tube that you can pull up for yourself." Zamren then proceeded to press Hernandez on Ross's supposed gang ties. "Do you have anybody from a Carol City gang that you have information on or basis of any knowledge that says he is affiliated with them?" Hernandez answered, "No." Zamren then asked, "Do you have anything that shows you he was affiliated with any gang?" Hernandez replied, "No, I do not." Zamren also got Hernandez to acknowledge that, prior to the January 2008 bust, Ross had never been arrested in Miami-Dade County, where he has long resided.

I'm just gonna call him Bitch Tits Ricky from now on since the Rick Ross groupies seems to think anyone who calls this former correctional OFFICER (who calls himself RICK despite his birth name being William), Officer Ricky is some kind of 50 Cent "stan") 50 is wack too but at least he wasn't a C.O. fraud.

    • Anonymous

" a good way to generate a buzz for an upcoming album release is to get a cross over singer that already has a heavy buzz " yeah, he tried that with a lady gaga remix and failed.

    • Brotha Dee

@Gargamel I no sign and I co sign. I co sign that a good way to generate a buzz for an upcoming album release is to get a cross over singer that already has a heavy buzz but you have to weigh in other factors also. In Hip Hop circles the reunion of two rappers with past beef is always good for a buzz but outside of Hip Hop it does nothing for your buzz because casual fans could care less. Label mates should never beef, its bad money so Def Jam most likely stepped in and said it makes $ense to have two of their biggest rap artists drop a single to generate a buzz for both of them. Lets not forget that Jeezy was threatening the staff at Def Jam that he would leak his album if they didnt get the ball rolling on his promo for his album. We get lost on the artists and forget about the business mechanisms behind the scenes that dictate how these rappers move at times. Def Jam has not been the same since Joey left, for a while they looked like they were back to functioning with some type of direction but they seriously dropped the ball with Jeezy. When you have a breakout hit like "My Nigga" with one of your flagship rappers on it then you should promote the shit out of that rapper and have a follow up single in the stash as a teaser to keep the buzz buzzin. I dont know man, I love Def Jam because of what they mean to the culture but I think they are on the way out unless they get an entire new A&R Delartment with some fresh blood and new ideas because the Indies are out for blood.

"jeezy last album sold more first week and like 200k more total ross is the one paying jeezy to be on his record cause he needed the buzz, think about that for a min," You number nerds need to wipe your bi focals and back away from the computer. TM103 did 690K and and Teflon Don did 740K and GFID did 560K and waaaay before that Jeezy went platinum and waaaaaaay after that Ross dropped 3 Retail compilations that did 600K combined. Who really gives a fuck about first week sales or who sold more on a specific album or who runs a successful label or who ranks higher on a Forbes Cash Kings list we want a hot song, some good music.

Calm down Carmelo. Rap cats have a fallin out and then squash the shit all the time, Cube & Dre, Nas & Jay and Rozay & Snow.....this ain't nothin new playboy. These cats got multi collabos & will have more in the future because they basically in the same lane and on the same level and it make more sense to join forces and go to war than fight each other. It's a beautiful thang.

It doesn't get any more ironic than a song 'War Ready' from two rappers who didn't want to go to war so they kissed and made up.
