Meek Mill Says He's 70 Percent Done With New Album

Meek Mill says he is working on his new album and announces that it is slated for a Spring release.

Meek Mill says he is 70 percent done with work for his new album, set to be released this year.

“I’m working on my album right now [which is] coming out in the Spring,” Meek said in an interview with VladTV. “I’m about 70 percent done."

Last year, Mill released his debut studio album, Dreams And NightmaresDreams and Nightmares earned a 3 out of 5 rating from HipHopDX at the time of its release.

"With Dreams & Nightmares it’s clear that Rick Ross’ protégé needs more time before he can rightfully call himself the lieutenant of the MMG army," HipHopDX said at the time. "Rozay didn’t exactly come out the gate with universal acceptance on his debut Port of Miami either, arguably taking two to three albums before finally establishing himself as a respected artist. If you count his more recent Dreamchasers series and pieces of the two Maybach Music Group compilations, Meek Mill is on the verge of obtaining his stamp of approval. With that said, consider this project a dream that could be forgotten by mid-day."

In January, Meek posted a Twitter update about his plans for his next album release.

"My next album is all that matters #2014," he said in one Twitter update.

@Anonymous: Shout outs to Tech N9ne for making more bread than Ricky Rozay but not shoving down our throats on every song he makes Poor guy, you been listening to every Ricky Rozay song just to have the sensation of something being shoved down your throat.

"375,000 isn't a flop. 175,000 would have been." Those are great numbers for a street record, we may never see a street record sell that much again, I guess if you were desperate enough at trying to hate on its success you could call it a flop.

"Even after splitting his money up he still banked more than Ross last year" That's cause he has to tour 365 days a year. Doesn't change the fact O' Gunn is raping his pockets.

  • Anonymous

"Just like all MMG artists" Wale went gold. That's far from forgotten.

"Even after splitting his money up he still banked more than Ross last year, check the Forbes list, Ross tied with Mac Miller who doesnt have a label or a Wing franchise, etc. MMG not doing as well as they make you believe. Smoke and mirrors" Now that you have compared their money to each other now you can compare their money to yours and make yourself even more bitter.

who cares, fuck this non talent

"Shout outs to Tech N9ne for making more bread than Ricky Rozay but not shoving down our throats on every song he makes" Tech has to break bread with Travis O' Gunn, so he's not flossing like you think. Besides, every album he releases flops, and is forgotten in a week.

    • Anonymous

"every album he releases flops, and is forgotten in a week." Just like all MMG artists.

    • Anonymous

"he's not flossing like you think." He's doesn't seem to be flossing it at all. Thats why he's so likeable and respected. He can make 7 million bucks independently and not come off like a jackass every time he opens his mouth.

    • Smoke and Mirrors

"then it's clear that DreamChaser artists are nothing more than Meek's bum lackeys" Now if you not from the Hood and never been aroud the music game then you probably think artists just start their own labels so they can sign people to carry marijuana or sign lackeys to sit around and be bums..... What you want is a solid business relationship were you find a talented artist and in exchange for a piece of their publishing and royalties you agree to promote and market them and maybe they succeed...if they dont succeed then you cut them lose or keep investing in them untill they do but having dead weight around is just stupid. Once you get distribution for your label you can start making some Tech N9ne money, here is a dude with his own label Strange Music and he never even goes Gold and has artists that barley sell 250K but he made 7 million last year.

    • Ghost Rider

" them is still ya family and niggaz who you related to or affiliated with based on the community you come from." Whens Rozay gonna put on for some young Correctional Officers from M-I-Yayo just trying to get some shine in the rap game?

    • Ghost Rider

"Those artist who you consider bums are playing multiple roles as hype men, ghost writers" are you saying Meek is paying other rappers to write those weak ass songs he be putting out? Thats pathetic dawg.

    • Anonymous

Those artist who you consider bums are playing multiple roles as hype men, ghost writers, tour managers, bodyguards and assistants. Let me give you an example: some might say why does Ross keep doing these songs and videos with Young Breed from Triple Cs and the answer is simple: you want to see ya boys get that money even if its only local or statewide them is still ya family and niggaz who you related to or affiliated with based on the community you come from.

"if they dont succeed then you cut them lose or keep investing in them untill they do but having dead weight around is just stupid." Tell that to Birdman and Rick Ross they got like 50 bums signed but only put out 3 artists a year

  • the truth hurts

"Meek has been mentored properly so you can witness his transition from street student to business man." Think of how many artists were WAY bigger than Meek, sold more records and had more successful mentors that couldn't make it work. Look at Game. He went plat multiple times. He was shown the blueprints from Dr. Dre and 50 but somehow his numerous attempts at starting his own label never materialized to anything more than some logo sweatshirts and chains for his weed carriers. Anyone who truly believe Meek Mill's label will see any real success in rap is kidding themselves. Meek will be basically unheard of in 3-5 years just like Cassidy is now.

whoa a feature on T.I. and Yo Gotti albums? that changes everything. i take it all back Meek Mill is the next Jay-Z

    • Anonymous

Well he's already been on Self Made Vol. 1-3, a solo album, on GFID, as well as on Tip and Yo Gotti's albums. For a guy supposedly broke and talentless, he's shining while you hatin ass motherfuckers throw cheap shots from the cheap seats.

"Squares just dont understand that when you make it out the Hood you have a responsibility to help other people make it out the Hood" it's interesting because if Meek would have left Snupe in the hood he might still be alive today.... catch 22

    • Anonymous

LiL Snupe had tremendous potential and could have had a decent career but his life was cut short by a hater who didnt want to see him succeed in life and killed him out of envy. Squares just dont understand that when you make it out the Hood you have a responsibility to help other people make it out the Hood so when you are an artist you want to give back and give people opportunities instead of just a handout. When Jaz O got on he helped JayZ get in the game when JayZ got on he helped Ross get on and when Ross got on he helped Meek get on and when Meek got on he tried to help Snupe get on.

    • Anonymous

yeah hes not even trying anymore

"then it's clear that DreamChaser artists are nothing more than Meek's bum lackeys" That's essentially how the music biz works. How many solo albums did The Bravehearts release, or Black Wallstreet? Meek is out for Meek. That shouldn't be a surprise.

    • Anonymous

exactly. If platinum artists like Game and Nas couldnt run succesful labels I dont see it happening for some uneducated hood like meek

  • Anonymous

"What makes Dreamchasers Records a functional label? It is a functional record label because he got a bunch of chains made up to look like a Rolls Royce logos to hand out to his weed carriers?" Let's use adult language without meaningless expressions you heard online like "weed carrier". Anybody can have a bunch of chains but that doesent make you money, Dreamchasers has corporate sponsors behind them and their label is structured with pres, vice pres & A&R and all those portions are held by qualified individuals, the same individuals that got Meek this far. Trust me man I used to know a bunch of miserable people who oozed hate and always wanted other people to fail or hated on other peoples success but they all ended up dead, in prison or strung out on drugs, as a man thinketh.....

    • Anonymous

the only ignorant people here are meek and his fans who think his record label will ever be anything more than a chain and a logo on a t-shirt

    • Anonymous

In a way its kinda cool that people are ignorant because they can be taken advantage of by people and used as an example.

    • Anonymous

So you think because Meek calls some guys the president and, vice president of Dreamchasers Records its all of a sudden a legit label. How is that any different than every other rapper with a label who calls them self a CEO? I guarantee you no one is paying their bills working for Meek Mill's record label.

    • Anonymous

" Dreamchasers has corporate sponsors behind them and their label is structured with pres, vice pres & A&R and all those portions are held by qualified individuals, the same individuals that got Meek this far." His label generates zero dollars. Cmon man dont be stupid.

  • Anonymous

"A bunch of lies from the MMG groupie. Of course Meek's label is nothing more than a tax write-off, especially when none of the "artists" release music. No one's gonna care about a DreamChaser artist just like no one will care about an OVO artist or any artist signed to a small amateur label. Meek is nothing more than one of Ross' pawns and will be completely forgotten in 5 years when his next album bombs. Nothing he's doing is special. They are just building their labels. YOu need to give them some time. Diddy started bad boy and had no platinum or gold albums at all, yet biggie was successful and diddy finally had a platinum album.

    • Anonymous

"at the age of 26 Meek Mill is a CEO of an LLC with multiple employees and a payroll." Now you know that ain't true. Meek's "label" is nothing more than a bunch of bums who carry around his shit when he's on tour. It's not even a real label, it's nothing more than a bunch of chains and logo shirts.

    • Anonymous

      LOL MMG groupie

    • Anonymous

The attention-troll is ignorant, he has never paid taxes a day in his life, if he actually thinks the myth of an artist as a Tax Write off is true then tell him to explain exactly how that works. The attention-troll is so filled with bile and hatred that it fails to realize that at the age of 26 Meek Mill is a CEO of an LLC with multiple employees and a payroll. Some people see this as something to hate Meek for and other people see it as inspiration.

Even if it's new, they have a lot of time to release something. Still, it won't matter as they won't be nothing more than Z-list rappers who'll never achieve any success. Also, I don't care about 50 Cent and G-Unit at all, so quit bringing them up.

    • Anonymous

I told you their label is new. Of course you won't hear anything. Give it till the end of year and something will come up. You seem to criticze mmg yet ignore that 50's artist, kidd kidd, might be a weed carrier for him.

    • Anonymous

Where's their music? Do you hear any of them on the radio/MTV/BET? Do they have any albums in the work? If you can't answer any of these questions, then it's clear that DreamChaser artists are nothing more than Meek's bum lackeys.

    • Anonymous

Diddy didn't even release any music until after Biggie died.

    • Anonymous

Prove to me that he uses his dreamchasers artists for carrying his luggage.

    • Anonymous

Nope. He has the DreamChaser artist carry his shit on tour. The situation's different because they're nothing alike.

    • Anonymous

He hires luggage carriers to help them on his tours. He doesn't use his artists to carry luggage. How is this situation different?

    • Anonymous

They ain't building shit. They were handed their own imprint and just signed a bunch of people who'll carry their luggage when they go on tour. You can't compare them to Bad Boy at all, those are two different situations.

  • Anonymous

"Its hard to have succes when the back of your album says Interscope/Aftermath/Shady/GUNIT like Banks and you don't have your own imprint to get your own points like Meek Millionaire:" Banks is only signed to g unit.

  • Anonymous

"You're talking about Meek's label like it's gonna be the next Death Row. That shit ain't nothing more than a tax write-off full of weed carriers." His label would not sign weed carriers. They can get weed for free just because of their fame.

    • Anonymous

If they released an album, it'll go wood. Face it, stanley, they won't be shit.

    • Anonymous

I bet if they released one album, your tune would change. Quit hating and give them time to develop.

    • Anonymous

That's stupid, though. Why carry your own weed when you can pay someone else to carry them? That's why DreamChasers exist. He didn't sign them because of their talent, he signed them as a tax write-off and somebody to do his dirty work on tour.

    • Anonymous

The one guy he signed is most famous for getting robbed at a waffle house for his jewels and then talking to the police. The other one is only famous for getting killed over a video game. Meek sure knows how to pick em.

    • Anonymous

Meek Mill can get weed himself. He signed these artists because they have rapping talent.

    • Anonymous

Yes, they would. Every DreamChaser "artist" is nothing more than Meek's lackeys/weed carriers. And they're not famous at all.

    • Anonymous

None of this is true at all. Banks didn't change shit and I'm not dickriding anyone, I didn't even mentioned 50 and Banks until you brought them up. If anyone needs to stop dickriding, it's you riding Meek's nuts.

    • Anonymous

When Meek Mill came on the seen, lloyd banks changed his ways and now sounds like meek mill. Ironically, he can't get an album out, just like his boss, 50. Quit dickriding their nuts groupie.

    • Anonymous

Again, it ain't happening. His shit is not going platinum at all. And how is Lloyd Banks a Meek Mill copycat when he was famous and around longer than Meek?

    • Anonymous

Of course we won't know since he died but they will find recordings and its gonna go multiplatinum. Also, no one cares about lloyd banks, that meek mill copycat.

    • Anonymous

That one kid has very little knowledge, he actually believes that every rapper has a functional label, LOL, yeah you should have told Drake that two albums ago before he got raped with no Vaseline. After Drake figured out the real rap game he formed OVO and released his last album under his own imprint with YMCMB/CMBGAO he could get more of the money he deserved and the creative control he deserved....anybody notice who was missing on that album? Anybody who thinks labels sign rappers as a "tax write off" is an idiot because the music business doesent work like that, that saying "tax write off" is repeated in ignorance by way to many people. The main object of your own label is your points of course but its also so you can put your team on and eventually be your own Boss with captive control over your music it also acts as a springboard LLC for other business ventures (Diddy/Badboy). You dont get no damn tax breaks because you sign Louie V Gutta to a recording contract or a publishing deal, have you ever paid taxes? What you want to do is invest in your artists and get a return through the royalties and publishing based on the agreed percentages in the contract. Meek has been mentored properly so you can witness his transition from street student to business man. Wiz Khalifah got a fuck deal were all his solo albums are on Atlantic/Rostrum instead of being on Atlantic/Rostrum/TaylorGang BUT because he got Juicy J signed to Taylor Gang he can still get exec credits off Juicy J albums and get his money, these young dudes are wowing up to the business side of the game.

"Lloyd Blanks is washed, he never established his own brand because he was under 50 Cent who has a crab mentality." 50 wanted his artists to establish themselves on their own. That's his main problem with his old crew. They relied on him for everything.

    • Anonymous

Having your own label is nothing impressive anymore, especially when EVERY rapper has one.

    • Anonymous

Actually, you got that backwards. It's harder to achieve success when your album says Atlantic/MMG/DreamChasers and your imprint is nothing more than a tax write-off full of bum rappers who'll never see their shit released and if it does get released, will go wood.

No one under Meek Mill has had any success except the kid who got murked and people only started to care once he got shot over a video game. Shit, almost every rapper has a label, doesn't mean anything. Meek isn't gonna have a long-lasting career since MMG is on its way down and his next album will tank harder than the last one.

    • Anonymous

Lloyd Blanks is washed, he never established his own brand because he was under 50 Cent who has a crab mentality. Meek has already established his own label so he should have a much longer carrer than Banks who was signed to a rapper that's signed to a rapper that's signed to a rapper. Dr Dre-------Eminem-----50Cent------LLOyd banks That's too far down the chain of command for a rapper to be successful for long. Plus Meek Mill has a strong team outside of Maybach that hold him down unlike Banks who was forced to play lapdog to 50 and suffer through 50s beefs not being able to collab with enemies of 50.

    • Anonymous

Why do Meek Mill and MMG fans think that everyone who doesn't like Meek' style music is some big 50 cent or Lloyd Banks fan? Meek is a big 50 fan. He said 'They Burn Me' was the realest song he ever heard.

    • Anonymous

How is that amazing? In 5 years some other guy will be putting out albums while Meek is washed up hating on the youngins. It's also gonna take Meek Mill like 25 albums to come close to what their albums sold.

Meek Mills debut album was a sales success moving 375k copies making it the #10 best selling HipHop album of 2012 which means Atlantic will crack open a respectable budget and let MMG & DC do the groundwork. Im not concerned with the promotional/marketing aspect of the project, I'm concerned with the direction of the project. In order for Meek to thrive in this current climate he will have to expand on his subject matter and take a few chances, in this fickle market you can't risk a sophmore slump project like Big Sean you need a constant sophmore project like J. Cole. Production wise I expect Jalil Beats, Beat Billionaire, Tone Beats, Key Wane, Shebib, Young Chop, & Charlie heat in addition to a few big name producers. Features I expect MMG fam, Omelly JayZ, Vado, T.I., J Cole and more. hopefully the Philly bul will be hungry and give that Flamerz ish.

Jadakiss and Styles respected 50 enough to call him a snitch and a homo in multiple records but 50 cut them a check and now they take pictures in the studio together, but 50 snitched on them and got them arrested.

How do you know who respects who? Clowns like you got mad when JayZ and Nas reconciled their differences and worked together after dissing each other. Petty dudes like you stay broke.

"This guy is an average rapper who yells. Nothing more nothing less." That would be eminem who shouts all the time since 2010. Meek Mill at least injects sincerity into his raps while eminem does this to make up for his shit lyrics.

No one can relate to rolling around the city in an expensive car with a rollie. And what you said about Eminem is wrong. Eminem puts sincerity into his lyrics while Meek Mill yells to make up for his shit lyrics. Eminem doesn't even yell in his records that much anymore.

He's just relating to his life experiences that others share.

Or he's white and you give them a pass.

Yes but Em makes comedy rap videos like "We Made You" and wears dresses like Madonna so he gets a pass.

Ross gave you a cosign, and I admit, while you were hot for a brief minute, Meek, you ethered your own career in so many ways. Every song contains the same delivery, so I'm pretty sure your next album will be just as predictable. You "battled" Cassidy, only to lose horribly, not to mention you started a label BEFORE your album was slated to release. I predict that in the next 5 years, your former weed carriers/artists will call you out for not reimbursing them while looking broke, raggedy, and hungry on some worldstar.com video. And to top it all off, you had a mixtape that got pushed back more than Ne-Yo's hairline.

lets pray the last 30% Ross picks the beats

Good to see Meek come from nothing to something, hes a true success story, I expect him to stick to his club bangers and story telling tracks but incorporate some introspective tracks as well. Meek is the only 25ish rapper reppin the streets in the mainstream so his input is important of we are going to keep street music alive in this new generation of light skinned metro sexuality.

I think Meek Mill is 100% done.
