After serving more than four years in the Louisiana State Penitentiary, Baton Rouge emcee Lil Boosie is now reportedly scheduled to be released on February 13, 2014.

According to a recent report posted by MissInfo, Lil Boosie’s release date, which was formerly reported as August of this year, has been pushed up to just before Valentine’s Day.

Last week, the official Twitter account associated with the Superbad rapper referenced his upcoming release.

Following reports that Lil Boosie would be released in August, his brother and manager Taquari Hatch spoke with NOLA.com in December about the rapper’s progression in prison and possibilities for an earlier release. NOLA’s article reports that Boosie’s early release is a function of his completion of a substance abuse class and two other classes. In March of last year, HipHopDX reported that Lil Boosie had completed his GED while behind bars.

“He has plans to go straight to the studio to begin working on an album as well as his tour,” Boosie’s brother told NOLA in December, before adding that he will begin touring in “late spring, early summer.” The same article also reports that Boosie can expect post-release supervision by the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections well into 2018.

Lil Boosie was arrested in 2009 for a third-offense marijuana possession charge and violation of probation. Two years later, while still incarcerated, the rapper was sentenced to an additional eight years of hard labor after pleading guilty to drug charges stemming from an attempt to smuggle codeine, ecstasy, and marijuana into the famed Angola prison. The drug charges brought against the Bad Azz Entertainment founder came while he awaited trial for first-degree murder charges after he allegedly ordered a hit on a 35 year-old Baton Rouge man in late 2009. Boosie was found not guilty by a Baton Rouge jury in May of 2012 according to the USA Today. If convicted on the first-degree murder charges, the rapper would have faced a possible life sentence.

In an exclusive interview with the rapper released a year ago yesterday, Lil Boosie described his plans to continue recording music to a Spin reporter. “I have about 500 songs at the moment,” he said. “I’m ready to get in the studio with the best producers. I feel that I’m making the best music I’ve ever made. The more I go through in life the better my music gets and it’s been crazy the last three years,” Boosie said. “I keep my music heartfelt and stick to making real music. I wouldn’t even say it’s Hip Hop music. My music is ‘reality Rap.’ Hip Hop music can make you dance and bob your head, but it can’t make you cry or touch your heart like reality Rap.”
