Macklemore Says He "Robbed" Kendrick Lamar At Grammys In Text Message

Macklemore says Kendrick Lamar deserved to win at this year's Grammy Awards and he reveals the text message he sent the TDE star.

Macklemore, who was the recipient of four Grammy Awards at this year's event, says Kendrick Lamar was robbed at the award show.

Mack released a screen shot of a text message he says he sent the TDE star after the award show.

"You got robbed," Macklemore says in the text message. "I wanted you to win. You should have. It's weird and sucks that I robbed you."

Mack says he hoped to address the matter during his speech, but says he was unable to when "the music started playing." He says he "froze."

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won four Grammy awards, including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song.

A complete list of Grammy winners for this year can be found here

The caption for the image can be found below following the screenshot of the text message Macklemore posted on Instagram.

My text to Kendrick after the show. He deserved best rap album... I'm honored and completely blown away to win anything much less 4 Grammys. But in that category, he should have won IMO. And that's taking nothing away from The Heist. Just giving GKMC it's proper respect.. With that being said, thank you to the fans. You're the reason we were on that stage tonight. And to play Same Love on that platform was a career highlight. The greatest honor of all. That's what this is about. Progress and art. Thank you. #grammys

Their text message exchange follows a previous post Macklemore made showcasing their mutual respect for one another.

While the world debates... This is what we're on.#grammys

Yeah...Kendrick should've won. But Macklemore put in work with "The Heist", so got nothing but respect for him. Accolades and awards aside, let's just recognize that these are two incredibly talented artists, albeit hip-hop or otherwise. Follow Endless Ambition Streetwear. "Kendrick is pure hip-hop, no pop. His singles do well. Robin Thicke is an R&B singer, so Kendrick didn't do a sogn with a pop singer" Lol You're a born spinster. His singles doing well has zero to do with chipmunk's decision to jump on a song with Robin Thicke, an R&B singer who now has a pop audience thanks to Blurred Lines. Imagine what KRS thinks about that, or anybody who actually made pure hip hop music minus the gimmicks. If Drake's guilty, your boy belongs on death row.

    • sickcunt

OP admits to listening to Meek Mill, Pitbull and Birdman but shits on Kendrick Lamar on every single article on this website. He also said Illmatic is terrible. No one should take this boy seriously he is just loney and desperate to interact with someone online.

    • Anonymous

KRS would probably be the first one to tell you how retarded you sound while giving Kendrick PROPS FOR HIS CLASSIC HIP-HOP ALBUM "an R&B singer who now has a pop audience thanks to Blurred Lines." he had a pop audience before blurred lines... where the fuck have you been... robin thicke been around for years dog.

    • the double standards in OP's comment is strong

KRS and other hip-hop artists would have no problem with this. If you're gonna bash Kendrick for doing a song with an R&B singer, then you might as well bash EVERY rapper then.

You really are an idiot for spewing all of these lies.

bruh you're a faggot. go listen to pitbull and birdman and just kill yourself

"It's not a sell-out at all. Plus, they recorded that song before Blurred Lines became a huge hit" Who cares when it was recorded? It got released after Blurred Lines, and while Kendrick's wave was riding high. Smart strategy, but still a sell out move.

"It made it to #25 on the Billboard Hot 100" Double bummer.

  • macklemore

Macklemore is dominating the hoods of America. Black poeple bobbing their heads to REAL hip hop. Macklemore making stacks. You at the welfare office.

  • macklemore

blacks are so homophobic and it takes a real man like macklemore to smash homophobia in hip hop;. Macklemore is taking the reigns...deal with it.

'The song didn't even go to #1' Bummer.

  • Anonymous

Half a man, your a double standard spewing bitch. It's the same sell out decision, even worse on Kendrick's part considering he knew Thicke was coming off the biggest song of last year.

    • Anonymous

everything this guy posts is 100% bitch made this dude admits to hating nas and said illmatic was trash and expects anyone to take his comments seriously!! why do you even click on macklemore and kendrick articles if you listen to pitbull, meek mill and birdman?

    • Anonymous

You shouldn't speak on double standards.

    • Anonymous

I didn't say anything that was double-standard at all. It's not a sell-out at all. Plus, they recorded that song before Blurred Lines became a huge hit.

  • LulzSpit

So basically .. Macklemore is a sexually confused, thrift shoppin' snitch that publicly posts private messages who literally can't just say "Thank You" and accept an award -- always some TMZ bullish to follow masked as a "cause"

  • Anonymous

"Yet he had to sell out and be on a Katy Perry song in order to get a #1" Just like Kendrick being on a Robin Thicke song.

    • Anonymous

You are an idiot. Kendrick is pure hip-hop, no pop. His singles do well. Robin Thicke is an R&B singer, so Kendrick didn't do a sogn with a pop singer. Katy Perry didn't sell out, Juicy J sold out for working with her since her single did not bomb and she didn't need help. If anything, Juicy J needed help since he can't get a hit by himself.

    • Anonymous

K dot had always been a pop rapper that struggled in single sales (albums sales were lower than drake's) so its only natural he does shit with pop singers. Katy Perry sold out however because her last single bombed and needed someone who could sell to revive her, like pitbull and kesha.

    • Anonymous

How is Kendrick doing a song with an R&B singer selling out like Juicy J doing a song with a pop singer?

    • Anonymous

      1. Kendrick didn't sell out doing that Robin Thicke song. 2. The song didn't even go to #1.

I read that TDE wasn't paying K Dot his royalities from GKMC. He is now considering suing Dawg and signing with either YMCMB (where Drake is) or Roc Nation.

    • Anonymous

You niggas and your fairy tales.

    • Anonymous

I also read that dawg had been sexually harrasing him.

    • Anonymous

TDE has no control over Kendrick's royalties, ASCAP pays him his royalties, now if he signed a bad publishing contract then he needs to rework his contract. He would be foolish to sign with CMB/YMCMB because his Hipster fanbase view him as the indie darling and not the commercial machine that YMCMB is. Roc Nation would be perfect, they are pretty autonomous and not as cliquish as other sub labels. With the recent success of these indie artists I would stay a free agent and just build my own brand.

The thing that made HipHop so potent at its peak was its aggression and masculinity. Powerful. You always had a few slightly moist dudes but the alpha males were always at the forefront. Now you see the most blatantly feminized rappers every with Eminem, Kanye, Maclklinmore, Wayne and Drake at the forefront with dudes kissing each other, wearing dresses and promoting homosexuality. Hopefully this is just a phase that will pass.

"Isn't it funny that Juicy J can't get a hit song by himself? He always has to be featured on someone else's shit or, in the case of Bands A Make Her Dance, has to get another artist on his shit." Juicy J has the same fanbase as wayne, 2 chainz, wale, treysongz, ymcmb and mmg. He can have a hit on his own if they released a solo single.

    • Will $teel

yea but fuck da mainstream anyways. Stay Trippy was full of bangers. Plus his mixtape BLUE DREAM & LEAN is a fuckin classic. He put SpaceGhostPurrp(b4 A$AP even did) on twice n both songs r anthems. It just shows he cares bout the underground way more than these pop rappers

    • Anonymous

"If he releases a solo single, he will have a hit." Nope. If he does release a solo single (keyword IF), it'll flop. @Will $teel I'm only talking about Juicy J as a solo artist. As a solo artist, he's basically a one-hit wonder.

    • Will $teel

^ bahahhahaha juicy j only has 1 hit song??? u must b a 14 yr old LMAO dude is a livin legend apart of 3 6 mafia. Hard out here for a pimp won an OSCAR(2nd ever rap song 2 win 1 behind Lose Yourself). U just single handily lost all credibility when speakin on HIP HOP

Juicy J is a solo newcomer. If he releases a solo single, he will have a hit.

    • Anonymous

What fanbase, the urban fanbase? Besides, those other artists you named have more hits than Juicy J. Dude only has one hit song.

  • Anonymous

"One Top 20 single and all of a sudden, she's falling off and needs help? That's stupid. She's doing fine. She doesn't need the help. The song is gonna do well thanks to HER, not HIM. The radio stations will play anything from Katy Perry, they don't care about Juicy J. His verse is unimportant and not necessary; some radio stations actually edit out his verse. Dude only has one hit. And, no. She's not selling out, Juicy J is selling out for doing this pop song. Katy Perry can't sell out, she's a pop star." So then tell me why is unconditionally disappointing with the radio? Why didn't it do as well as her past hits? Katy Perry sold out to release a hiphop song just to gain back relevance. It did well DESPITE katy perry, not because of her. Juicy J did fine with his own singles on the hiphop charts.

    • Anonymous

I didn't even say anything about Macklemore, you moron. Katy's still one of the biggest pop stars of the world, she's not washed up and will never be dropped with the hits she makes. Also, Juicy J will never be considered a top rapper.

Right now, you're too busy slurping on macklemore's dick but by the time your fag ass comes back to reality, katy perry will have been washed up, on the verge of getting dropped, while juicy j will be considered a top rapper. Hell he's already won an oscar for hustle and flow.

    • Anonymous

It ain't a disappointment if it made the Top 20. I'm not dickriding anyone, I'm just stating the truth. Katy Perry has not fallen off, Dark Horse is a terrible pop song with no redeeming values, Juicy J is not the reason why people listen to the song, Katy's not washed up, and her next single (if she puts one out) will sell just like the other singles, she doesn't need rappers to make hits, rappers come to her for hits.

    • Anonymous

Unconditionally was a disappointment if it didn't make the top 3 or even top 10 like Perry usually does. Now answer the question on why it disappointed Accept the fact that she's fallen off dickrider. It's a hippop song with the only redeeming feature being Juicy J's verse. He's the reason why people are listening to the song. Katy Perry's washed up and when her next single comes out, she'll either bomb or have to have an appearance by drake or fagklemore in order to be relevant.

    • Anonymous

Dark Horse is the farthest thing from a hip-hop song.

    • Anonymous

Unconditionally did well everywhere, it wasn't a disappointment. Katy Perry didn't sell out and did not make a hip-hop song. She made a pop song like all of her songs and Juicy J is just a featured artist, he's not the reason why this song is doing well, Katy Perry is. Again, he's a one-hit wonder.

  • Anonymous

My girlfriend suddenly lost interest in katy perry a few months ago but came back only because of juicy j's verse.

Like Chris Bitch said, its a disappointment when her past songs usually go no.1. Perry's falling off and needed juicy j to help her. So what if Juicy J gets only one verse, his verse is the only way radio stations are going to play that otherwise crappy song. He didn't sell out, SHE DID!!

    • Anonymous

How does it feel everytime you or your circlejerk buddies steals my name?

    • Anonymous

How is making the Top 20 a disappointment? She ain't struggling at all and she doesn't need help. Dark Horse would still sell a lot without Juicy J. And it's actually a pity that his first #1 hit will be from a pop song where he's not the lead artist. At least other rappers' first #1 singles aren't shitty pop songs where they're not even the lead artist. Dude sold out big time.

    • Anonymous

"This is all a lie that even you don't believe. Katy doesn't need help making hits. She can fart out a #1 single. Dark Horse would be successful without Juicy J. Also, that saying is a pile of shit made up by ADHD-having kids and is not true at all." I love how you don't even mention that unconditionally disappointed. She obviously needs help if she continues to struggle. Dark Horse would barely go gold without Juicy J. Quit hating on him just because he's having his 1st no. 1 hit.

    • Chris Etrata

I know its not really a hiphop question but Unconditionally did disappoint by katy perry standards where she usually goes no. 1, almost always goes top 3, yet it peaked out at no. 14. Any reason why it disappointed?

    • Anonymous

Chris wouldn't say any of this bullshit. Stop stealing people's names, dentalboy. Your entire comment is all a lie.

    • Chris Etrata

That's dentalbitch above me. He's known to hide behind names.

    • Chris Etrata

Bounce it went gold so it was also a hit. A slow burner but a hit. And Juicy J was more of an album seller than a single seller. That acclaim obviously helped him when dark horse came out. Katy Perry begged him to help her out since her last single tanked by her standards. It's like when Kesha suddenly bombed with cmon and crazy kids. She sold out and appeared on a dope pitbull song.

    • Anonymous

"Which is why its hiliarious that unconditionally disappointed. Because Katy had plenty of hits before. But there's a saying that you're only as successful as your last hit and that single struggled. There's a reason why they went with dark horse as the next single and not one of her solo singles. Dark Horse, without juicy j, may have been around no.40 without juicy j." This is all a lie that even you don't believe. Katy doesn't need help making hits. She can fart out a #1 single. Dark Horse would be successful without Juicy J. Also, that saying is a pile of shit made up by ADHD-having kids and is not true at all.

Juicy J is basically a one-hit wonder. Not counting songs where he's a featured artist, his only Top 40 hit is Bands A Make Her Dance, his other singles didn't do well.

    • Anonymous

Nope, it's the other way around. Katy already had a #1 hit with Roar and if this was just a Juicy J song, it would tank. Dark Horse is Katy Perry's song, it'd be successful without Juicy J.

    • Anonymous

If anyone is selling out, its katy perry. Her last single disappointed when it peaked at only no. 14. Therfore, they knew juicy j was hot so they released that collaboration and its about to be no. 1, thanks to juicy j.

    • Anonymous

Yet he had to sell out and be on a Katy Perry song in order to get a #1.

  • ESGN WAS A HOOD CLASSIC

    1. The Heist was a pure underground album, completely independent, made in a basement and not pushed by any major label. Complete opposite of Jimmy Ivine, Dr. Dre pushing GKMC. From a pure independent, underground, hustle level TH > GKMC 2. TH had a song that became an anthem for equal rights and has social relevance for decades to come. This one song whether you agree with it or not is more profound than any single track of GKMC. This becomes evident every single time K-Dot performs versus Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. There was way more social commentary and importance to TH over GKMC. It is not without merit The Heist one, it perhaps was the biggest under-dog album when it was first released and no one would have imagined it would have been nominated for any awards let alone be a successful album, or be on the radio. That being said, I personally would rather listen to GKMC over TH but I understand why TH ran the table on the rewards.

Gay animals are considered defective, I suggest we take the same outlook. The purpose of sex besides the fact it feels good is reproduction. That alone proves that homosexualality is unnatural.

you can agree or disagree. but Macklemore is not hip hop in my eyes. he's more rap pop. He can rap no doubt, but he's more like Katy Perry singing over a Juicy j beat. for the pure Hip hop heads.. K-Dot should of won it hands down. but hey it was the grammys ..

If you bought GKMC, maybe saw a show with Kendrick in it, bought some Kendrick merch and told your friends about Kendrick and they bought some shit then you did your part as a fan. You supported an artist you liked and even helped fund their career. Why the fuck do you care if that artist wins a Grammy? Are you them? If they make music you enjoy that should be enough. Let them worry about a political award that never goes to deserving candidates.

I'm upset because he deserved the exposure and there was absolutely no competition. It just proves the Grammy's are a popularity contest, just like when Take Care beat Undun. Granted, Kendrick still killed the performance and got some new fans off that.

  • Your swags off Fag sauce

Yo you gotta respect it. I can't think of one rapper who wasn't this successful without some kind of gimmick behind him. These dudes are independent doing it this big. I respect it. I don't respect the whole what if I was gay approach but that shit worked out like crazy for them. To bad it didn't work for Lil B.(Album was called "I'm Gay") They got a little message thru out their songs, most urban cats like myself can't relate to but the music they make sounds decent, and Macklemore flow is solid enough to hear a whole song with him. Macklemore isn't fucking wack. Lets get that straight. Dude might be softer then Baby shit, but he is aight. I heard a lot worst. His commercial songs is what got them here and I like they commercial songs more then a lot of bullshit I hear on the radio. Well I ain't feeling that Same Love shit. I can't relate to that type of shit. I never felt like I would like another man and can't relate to someone who says what if I was gay(blah blah blah) Sheep don't see it but it was a gimmick and Gay seems to be cool in todays society. It worked can't knock it. With that said, Kendrick should have won hands down. I wasn't surpised that Nas(LIG) didn't win over drake.(tho I thought Nas would win for sure) But Kendrick for a major label debut, his album is as impressive as anybody who made a classic. The buzz was so crazy. For a Hip Hop Album Macklemore know himself Kendrick should win. Cause he knows Kendrick shit was a modern day classic.(fuck that, shit would be a classic in the 90s or any era) If you can't see that real hip hop was robbed the last two years for sure, you're just not a fan of the music.

    • Fag Sauce

Point is Kendrick should have won(Macklemore said it himself) if this is a hip hop award. Macklemore ain't wack but that same love is a gimmick. Got it Yo-Gotti or should I say Yo-Dumbass.

People from Lady Gaga to others was promoting him also. But you say that like if Dre or Kendrick did something wrong. That's how the game goes.

Melo, I completely agree and have been sayin' it for a while now. Kendra Lamar (yes, I said Kendra) is being hyped up and force fed to the masses. It's kinda funny because this clown really just came outta nowhere and now all these wannabe bandwagon hip-hop fans are screaming "GOAT", fuck outta here with that bullshit. Dude wack as fuck if you really think about it. There's nothing great about him. He looks like a fag, his flow is wack and annoying, the beats he rhymes over are wack as fuck and did I mention he looks like a fag? We can't have fags running around in the game and destroying hip-hop culture, period!

    • Anonymous

"Dr. Dre is forcing the world to like him, Kendrick can rap and all, but he is no star," No ones forcing anyone to like him. He also had a huge following before the Dre co-sign. If you saw his performance last night you wouldn't be saying he's not a star. He had the whole building moving. Pretty dope for a good kid from compton.

All this misplaced hate. Yal do realize Macklemore himself in no way shape or form was the deciding factor on winning the Grammy? Sure he made popular music which accounted for the votes but he's not the committee that voted. I'm floored by the misconception that he's the one who decided he should win a Grammy. Misplaced hate from an ignorant country where everyone thinks they're a critic and pop culture outweighs any other news.

You can say all you want about go out and do this and do that. Its a reason why Artist with a positive message don't get record deals. Its a reason why they sign the same tired act over and over and the only great music from Hip Hop comes from the underground.(with the exception of a few) Its because they wan't black artist(like Lil Wayne) who gives nothing to the coulture to look dumb. And now they make it seem like Macklemore has some brand new message or something like that. Its sort of like when Jason Collins came out the closet. But Macklemore aint gay tho. "The most popular rappers are Eminem and Macklemore and the most popular R&B singers are Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber. Aint that some shit?" Drake is the biggest rapper in the game. Not Em, or Mack. The R&B shit is pretty spot on but u can't forget bout beyonce. Do you suppose if I'm white i should put a wall up and say ok I'm never going to touch this music. No, sorry. It wouldn't be cool if country artists or folk artist said "this is our music, you can't touch it". You see, it works both ways. Regardless of race, if you hear something that catches your ear, your going to fuck with it. Maybe by listening, maybe by trying to recreate, maybe by trying to progress. But you motherfuckers who say white people should stay out and not push agendas, are LITERALLY like white people in the mid 1900's wit corperate power saying "no these blacks can't progress this country (music) for themselves, because we created corperate america (hip-hop music) and now were not going to let you run in whatever direction you want with it (diversity-macklemore in music). I hope someone learned something

    • Not Impressed

umm Since you posted this again... Drake is not the biggest rapper. Eminem's last two albums did more then Drake's last two albums and Macklemore is platinum on an indie, so he probably made much more off album sales then Drake did. A black rapper could never sell that much on an indie and Drake will never have the kind of success Eminem had. btw the Only reason he has the success that he has now is because he's half white. He could do the same music and be a couple of shades darker and not sell half as much. You bringing up country and folk as an example of white music proves my point EXACTLY. Most genres of music have been bastardized to the point where we don't even know they were created by black people. Most history in general has been revised and painted white. This is why it's a problem when white people are only supporting white artists. It has nothing to do with the mean old black people trying to kick you out of hiphop. It's about white people trying to kick US OUT. It's about not feeding into white supremacy and letting them continue to do this bullshit to us. I'm not impressed

He's somebody that I love his music and in my opinion has the best rap album of the year and knowing how the Grammys usually go, I knew there was a great chance we would win that award and in essence rob Kendrick. That's what happened [last] night. It kinda sucks. I think we made a great album, I think that Kendrick made a better rap album and that's what it is. ... What makes it awkward for me is that you never want to be the person that is robbing somebody else and I think if you look at what the Grammys are, I think that people don't understand is that what the Grammys are, are a bunch of people that are on the Grammy committee on in the industry, they get a ballot and I got a ballot this year. YES Smith won two Grammy Awards in the Best Rap Solo Performance category for the songs "Men in Black", in 1997, and "Gettin' Jiggy wit It", in 1998, making him the only artist in history to receive two Grammys from this category for two songs from the same album. Nas was also a co-writer on this album with Smith. He is credited under his real name, Nasir Jones, and worked on five songs on the album, including the hit singles "Miami" and "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It"

Not really a fan of any of the artists nominated, but truth be told, all of them had better albums then Macklemore. Macklemore is a basic level rapper with an average flow, and a horrible producer. I can't name one song on their album I enjoyed. And I'm not blind "hater". Go listen to all of those albums and tell me their album was the best with a straight face. It wasn't even the most commercially successful album in the group....So how the fuck did it win? Gentrification is occurring in hiphop and R&B right now, as well as most forms of American entertainment. 2013 was the first year in the history where there where no black people in the Billboard Top 100. R&B and hiphop were represented, of course, just not by black people. Now this terrible artist gets a Grammy at the start of 2014. Then in 2015, we all know who's going to win...Eminem. It's like white people supported blacks for a while, but were only doing it to learn our culture and take it for themselves. Now that they have some white people in position, these are the guys they're going to support now. The most popular rappers are Eminem and Macklemore and the most popular R&B singers are Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber. Aint that some shit? I never thought I would see the day when something like this happened. I wouldn't be surprised if most artists in our genres are white in 20 years. I'm not impressed

Hard Knock Life * A Tribe Called Quest The Love Movement * Big Punisher Capital Punishment * Jermaine Dupri Life in 1472 * Mase Harlem World Hell, even Harlem World, Life in 1472, No Way Out, The Carnival and I Wish are commercial as hell but more enjoyable than those 2 albums.

    • Big Bang

Not saying its better then GKMC. But Double up was a deep ass album. Mase left the game and didn't even promote the Album. People kinda shitted on the Album but overall that shit was a great album.

    • Big bang

Wow No Way out was a fucking classic I don't give a fuck if Diddy did that album. One of the best albums. GKMC would be great in any era. Especially the 90s cause that the feel the album brings. But I can't let you nerds insult No Way out. That shit was a classic no matter how you put. Harlem World was mad commercial but still great. I wouldn't say that it was better then GKMC. Double up was actually better. For my stuck in the 90s niggas. lol I guess im one of them cause I listen to 90s rap more then todays music.

    • Anonymous

You're another one of those dudes who is just stuck in the 90's. First off, fuck Puffy, and anything he's ever done. GKMC beats that, so fuck you on that one. Why are you trying to give us a history lesson. Macklemore DID NOT deserve to win. Who gives a fuck who was nominated back in the 90's? Anybody who truly likes hip hop already knows that the 90's are the golden age of Hip Hop bruh. Skip forward to 2014 tho. Let's talk about how Macklemore shouldn't have even been nominated, let alone win, and then beating out GKMC (which is the best hip hop album made in the last 10 years, at least) just adds insult to injury, and it also shows that Grammy awards are more irrelevant than we had originally thought they were.

    • Drake Til Infinity

Harlem World, Life in 1472 etc.? GTFO! GKMC is way better than that 90's Shiny Suit Rap! I agree with Beat Rhymes and Life and few others being better albums, definitely none of that 90's sellout bullshit though. You're hating.

Reading is fundamental. "Marriages will reportedly be between differnet groups of people, including people who are gay, straight, young, old and of different ethnicities and nationalities. Among those to be married is Ryan Lewis' sister, Laura who is currently engaged to her boyfriend, Alex."

    • Anonymous

I have quite the distain for Lord Jamar, but doing a performance with 30+ queers geeting married is pretty fucking gay, actually it's the gayest thing I can even recall.

    • anon

Bet you like watching that scene a lot.

  • Tung

"since when do janitors sift through trash bags?" They were right on top of the other garbage.

"well i guess thats what people wanna hear cause Kendrick sold more of his 1 album in 8 months than Ross could sold of any of his albums, including the ones that are like 8 years old LOL" His first album went platinum. On the mastermind cover art video, it said that Port of Miami went platinum. Given the time, it probably sold more than GKMC.

  • Anonymous

How ironic is it that Kendrick got robbed by an album called 'The Heist'?

  • Anonymous

Funny because usually it's the other way around and black people are the ones robbing white people HAHA

    • GTFO

Black people aren't the only race that rob others. There are a lot of white people that have robbed black people. Matter fact white people robed black people of their freedom and rights. You need to STFU and do something else with your life instead of being racist. It's people like you who ruin this society.

  • Anoymous

He should say THE ACADEMY robbed you, not Maclemore himself.

  • Anonymous

With all that hating on rick ross just because he wasn't a gangster, I'm surprised no one complains that Daft Punk aren't really robots but are 2 human idiots.

    • Harry

Hey dental, sure do miss you pal, why don't you use your name anymore? What are you up to right now, you alone?

    • Anonymous

      You're lying, dentalbitch.

    • Anonymous

No i still work at ymcmb as an accountant. And when I guest accounted for rick ross, I can verify that port of miami did go platinum.

    • Anonymous

hes trolling, its dentaldamboy. he got fired from his job as YMCMB's accountant

    • Anonymous

You're really attacking Daft Punk for being robots? Wow, you really are reaching.

how has noone realised that Bangalter was being sarcastic?

    • Anonymous

you are the most retarded person on this website, by far

    • Anonymous

Freeway is a criminal. He desrves whatever came to him. Rick Ross is fine. My point is that if you're going to give daft punk a pass, you need to give ross a pass too racist fuck.

    • anonymous

And who was stupid enough to believe it? NOBODY PlusDaft Punk is not gonna get sued by real robots for stealing their names. At the most one day we might see their faces.

    • Anonymous

Thomas Bangalter once stated, "We did not choose to become robots. There was an accident in our studio. We were working on our sampler, and at exactly 9:09 am on September 9, 1999, it exploded. When we regained consciousness, we discovered that we had become robots." So yes, they did lie.

    • Anonymous

did daft punk deny that they are humans and say someone photoshopped them? did they try to cover it up until they got exposed then made up a fake ass story LOL

  • Anonymous

Kanye should of won to be truthful. If theres anybody who always takes hip hop to the next level its him. Love him or hate him.

  • fatha

Congrats to Macklemore. He has proven that white people, no matter how shitty they are, can beat out great black rappers because they are white. Same reason why rick ross wasn't nominated once.

    • Anonymous

lolz rick ross sucks why would he win anything?

    • Anonymous

"kendrick lamar sounds like a chipmunk and GKMC was boring as hell" Said by an idiotic hater with shitty music taste. Go listen to Chief Keef.

    • Anonymous

well i guess thats what people wanna hear cause Kendrick sold more of his 1 album in 8 months than Ross could sold of any of his albums, including the ones that are like 8 years old LOL

GFID was nominated for best rap album last year but lost to Drake

    • Anonymous

kendrick lamar sounds like a chipmunk and GKMC was boring as hell

    • Anonymous

no one is talkin about ross lying. the fact is he didnt put out anything grammy worthy this time.

    • Anonymous

Big deal. Rick Ross has not been nominated in the category once. Besides, why complain that rick ross lied when you don't have similar complaints that daft punk aren't 2 robots but 2 human idiots yet keep living that robot life.

    • Anonymous

Rick Ross was nominated for his song from Django Unchained but besides that he wasn't nominated because he hasn't put out an album since GFID which was nominated last year.... think before you comment

  • Rich

The Grammys is filled with gays, and macklemore supports the gay agenda, strongly, so there you go. It was odd that good kid maad city was even nominated anyway, because it came out 2012.

    WHITE GUILT STRIKES AGAIN

  • Anonymous

It's bigger than that. Nobody else notices that we got the old ass Rolling Stones, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith up there looking like a crack-head with a broken zipper, and the last 2 Beatles left running around with money and comfort, fame, respect, glory, fucking royal titles from the queen and shit.... But where the fuck are all the BLACK ARTISTS they stole, copied, and took their whole style and flow from? There's your answer why a half-hip mark like Macklemore will win if he puts forth half the effort. Everyone keeps talking about Macklemore's "independent grind" and how he started from the bottom. Oh yeah? Research Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA), the mufti-million dollar company/major-label-owned-entity that backs him, which is backed by WARNER BROTHERS. There's nothing "indie" or grassroots about contracting with a subsidiary of Warner Music in order to promote an artist by paying radio DJ's to mention that artist's name over and over to see if the branding catches on in a POP environment, so stop with that bullshit, it's by design. (Turns up Mos Def's "Rock N Roll") How man of you heard these songs on Urban Radio? A Hip-Hop/Rap record without any real URBAN RADIO impact? GTFOH!

  • Yung

Man fuck macklemore. Nobody even listens to that lame shit. Not even white people. Kendrick GKMC will be talked about 20 years from now. The heist will be used as toilet paper all over America. Fuck the Grammys

    • Anonymous

since when do janitors sift through trash bags?

    • Anonymous

I was a janitor for target, cleaning garbage cans. Who said they immediately threw them away. They listened to heist, tried to return albums cause they lost reciepts (who keeps receipts?), they couldn't, so they threw them away.

    • Anonymous

people bought it and immediately through it out? fuck is you doing going through trash cans outside of target for anyway? looking for lunch you bum ass nigga?

    • Yung

I found Heist albums in a garbage can outside of target.

    • Anonymous

nobody listens to them but his singles went 7x platinum and 4x platinum and the album sold over 1.2 million in the USA LOLOLOL

    • streeets

dont know this mackelmore dude,,,weired shit,,grammies suck as fuck...thats why NAS and them never win this shitty award,,sucks,.wrong people in charge or they dont just understand rap or they should just remove the category

  • Anonymous

The Heist is my favourite rapper of all time!! He deserved to win, I love Thrift Store!!!!

  • JRich

Why's he gotta screenshot it and show it to everyone tho? That kind makes it seem like he's scrambling to keep up an image with people that actually fuck with hip-hop, and not just gays and casual radio listeners.

  • Anonymous

I bet Lord Jamar's hair turned a little grayer last night Was he going off on twitter or what?

  • Anonymous

Its so funny seeing how mad all these niggas are This makes it so worth it Im gonna go buy 3 Macklemore albums and pass them out to the first colored people i see

    • Anon

To all you mf's comparing hip hop to modern day inventions that is a bad ass comparison. how can you compare an invention created by an individual to a cultural phenomenon .

"a BLACK thang and if it wasn't for us, you people wouldn't have a damn thang to fill your empty ass voids with!" If it wasnt for us you'd still be in africa dying of aids and picking cotton, true story

LOL you're a guest on the internet nigga, it will always be a white thing.

    • THE REAL DEAL

To all of you KKKracker ass honkies talking shit remember this, hip hop is and will always be a black thang . Just because Macklefag and Gay Lewis won doesn't mean shit. It's the streets that decides the real hip hop from the wack commercial ass crap that is being played on the radio these days. If you think that hip hop belongs to you KKKrackers, I dare you to go into any hood especially the birth place of hip hop, talk that shit and see exactly what can and will happen to you. Just remember universal as it is hip hop is first and foremost a BLACK thang and if it wasn't for us, you people wouldn't have a damn thang to fill your empty ass voids with!

HIP HOP GENTRIFICATION AT IT'S FINEST

  • KaveshanN

haha macklemore is a dope emcee...he been puttin out heat consistently, the dude changed he's style up to go commercial...ended up sellin a mill..how can u hate on someone wanting success?? when 2chainz, the most shittiest of rappers was nominated, no one complained..Macklemore is more hip hop than him..anyway Kendrick did have the best rap album, but the Grammy's is mainstream, you gotta be a daft to take those awards seriously

  • KaveshanN

Anyway you know the best rap album of last year was RA the Rugged Man-Legends Never Die..

  • Anonymous

"I don't agree 100% but definitely see where you're coming from. For an indie artist to blow up like that is pretty crazy. Props to him for his hustle." Macklemore is not an indie artist. He signed to a division of Warner music. Maybe to a smaller label but he ain't indie. Warner also promoted his singles to radio. Also, white people automatically win in hiphop.

  • Champagne Papi Life

While I think it's bullshit that Drake was not nominated for album of the year and did not win for rap album of the year, Macklemore deserves to be respected. I'm no Macklemore fan, but the dude has been doing the independent hustle for years, is as classy as hell and respects hip-hop culture. I can't hate on that.

    • Anonymous

yes it did it was 1 of 5 nominated but wasnt even discussed like it had a chance of winning. it was between gkmc and the heist. jay-z, kanye and drake put out turds

    • Kaveshan
