Alchemist has explained the meaning behind Lord Steppington, the name of his forthcoming joint album with Evidence they are set to release January 21 as Step Brothers.
“The album is very British-inspired so it’s a lot of tea drinking, scones, and Benny Hill episodes,” Alchemist says during an interview with examiner.com. “We just really dug into our British bag. Lord Steppington is just a caviar eating, lord of the underground of rap that looks down on the rest of the underground. We’re just full of caviar, basically.
“I picture him like the Planter’s Peanut logo guy but he has the first Organized Konfusion album,” Alchemist continues. “He’s the sultan of the underground. He frowns upon others. He’s the Lord of the Steppington’s. He has totally condescending taste and he’s the man.”
