It has been roughly one week since 20-year-old Imani Porter, the uncle of rapper Wiz Khalifa, was shot and killed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and according to Wiz, his family is coping following their loss. While speaking on the status of his family following Porter’s death, Wiz revealed that Pittsburgh is a city that has its ups and downs and has currently found itself in a slump.

“We’re doing well, actually,” he said. “He was a lot younger than us. You know what I’m saying? So, it’s really unfortunate. And being from where I’m from, Pittsburgh, it’s like an up and down kind of place. And right now it’s not really a good time. And unfortunately it hit home. So, we’re all sad.”

When asked what he remembers most about his uncle during his brief interview with MTV News, Wiz immediately recalled Porter’s smile and commented on the 20-year-old being “a handsome, young man.”

“His smile. I remember his smile,” Wiz said. “He had the biggest, biggest smile. And it was like he was just a handsome, young man. He’s always gonna be with us.”

Porter was reportedly shot and killed while sitting in a car parked in a Steak ‘n Shake parking lot on January 9. The man responsible for the shooting, 17-year-old Jaron Young, turned himself in to authorities on January 10. Young, who was persuaded to turn himself in due to his mother, will be charged as an adult with criminal homicide.

After receiving news of his uncle’s death, Wiz shared the news of Porter’s passing via Twitter and spoke on the levelheadedness of his cousin.
