Rapper E-9 was shot and killed after a dispute at a New Jersey barbershop Sunday (December 29), according to nj.com. He was 28.
The artist, whose given name was Eric Andrews Jr., was involved in an argument at Nu Trendz, a New Brunswick barbershop, per nj.com.
E-9 was involved in a disagreement with two brothers, one of whom took out a gun, gave it to his brother and shot and killed the rapper, according to allhiphop.com.
Several people, including fellow rapper and E-9 collaborator 6FO, posted on social media about E-9’s death. “Tears won’t let me finish.. But you in a second beloved RIP E9,” 6FO posted on his Instagram account.

E-9, whose moniker was a nod to Exit 9 off the New Jersey Turnpike, released with 6FO the song “Hometown” in 2011. In 2012, E-9 and 6FO collaborated with Waka Flocka Flame on the song “M.O.N.E.Y.,” which was produced by Jahlil Beats.

E-9 and 6FO were scheduled to perform at New York City nightclub SOB’s yesterday (December 31).
Authorities are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 908-231-7100.
