Nitty Scott, MC Crowns Macklemore 2013's Most Important Rapper

Exclusive: Nitty Scott, MC says Macklemore's year "was very inspiring to watch."

Nitty Scott, MC recently spoke with HipHopDX about who she feels is the most important emcee of the year. According to Nitty, that title belongs to Macklemore, the rapper who teamed up with Ryan Lewis to release The Heist in 2012.

"I would have to say Macklemore," Nitty said in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX. "It's not because I personally listen to a lot of his stuff. I wouldn't go as far as considering myself a fan, but I do enjoy his music. I just think he broke a lot of barriers this year as an independent act and certain odds that are against him being a White rapper, for example."

Nitty Scott, MC also said that she sees parallels between White emcees and women who rap.

"I kind of feel like female rappers and White rappers kind of share the same plight where it's very hard for us to find our own identity within this," she said. "We're always sort of categorized according to gender and race, which is ridiculous in 2013. It's very hard to shine for what you want to stand for message-wise and musically when you're always kind of thrown into this pool. I feel like [Macklemore] really made himself stand out. He really beat all those odds that were against him and he was very strategic as well. He had a great year, a great record and it was very inspiring to watch."

While Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' The Heist was released in 2012, Mack & Lewis have been featured in the Billboard Top 200 album sales chart all year. At least in part because of that, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were nominated for several categories in various award shows this year, including the American Music Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards and the YouTube Music Awards

and her opinion means...ZIP. she's hot but not too many people are checking for her. sick of seeing articles about this rapper says this other rapper is this and that. we dont care if talib kweli says drake is important or if drake says kendricks album is greatest concept album of the year or if MC shitt balls says he loves rapper joe blows tight shirt. these articles are not newsworthy mainly becuase they are opinions. only followers who worship false idols(rappers) care about rappers opinions on other artists. do some real stories or some more interviews. opinions are like assholes. subjective.

    • eBRO

Man, shut the fuck up, poppa smurf. Her opinions might not mean zip to you, but do you see anybody giving a fuck about you? No. There's always got to be some nitpicking ass nigga that's gotta whine like a litte bitch about everything. Ok, so the article is about an opinion? So fucking what? Every website based on any type of entertainment is based on someone's opinion. Who says you had to blindly follow it? You can either agree or disagree to it, that's it, but I think you're making more out of these articles than what they really are.

  • m.black

Odds against him being a white rapper???? fuck that. The birth of Hip Hop/Rap came from dealing with the odds of just being black/brown in America period. As far as the black/brown women issue, i dig that...

Second that...... MACKLEMORE has been a GIANT KILLER in doing this year that even Billion Dollar conglomerates haven't done! That's an indie artist, investing in themselves, having a #1 HIT on his first 2 singles EVER released! That has NEVER Happened! Not Jay-Z, Eminem, Beyonce, Michael Jackson....NOBODY! Plus he's packing areans, headlining Festivals & stadiums, going multi-multi-platinum WITH NO RECORD DEAL! He owns his own sh*t & grossed over $40,000,00.00 this year alone! Without 'selling out' or being 'owned' by ANYONE! White or black or asian or 'purple', he made a CLASSIC album loved & inspired by millions of people all over the world! HATERPROOF! No one is listening to comments from jealous losers with NOTHING going on............

"first off he is signed and partnered with a company that pushes their singles to get on the radio like a major label does. " I heard they paid a million for the major label push but now thats its all paid back everything is gravy, the label aint getting a cut of their sales or show money

K you can take Macklemore's dick out of your mouth, first off he is signed and partnered with a company that pushes their singles to get on the radio like a major label does. Second he basically followed EM's blueprint with My Name Is as a lead single and White Walls both catchy songs with some offensive lyrics not comparing the two I would say My Name Is was a proper introduction to Slim Shady. Second his album sounds like what it would be if a Major Label was behind it. Third it was a good album no where near a classic album and pushing a gay rights song helped with that, got the gays to jump on board now he is backing GLAAD. If he dropped an independent album that sounded like Immortal Technique and did that I would be surprised but The Heist is mostly a POP sounding album. Not going to be that hard no days with the digital era and internet and social media sites, Mac Miller's do good as well he just didn't have a pop hit that broke through. Have to see what he does with his follow up album, but he is no where near the caliber of MC as an EM, Jay, Nas etc. #Facts Only!!

Females rappers go hollywood as soon as they get on good enough Latifah, Hill(in reverse), Nikki, Kim, Eve etc. That's what kills it for female rappers. I bet Nitty Scott marries or procreates with a pro baller, or makes a movie as soon as she gets her name out there more. Watch
