According to Queens rapper N.O.R.E., he’s an artist who both understands Lord Jamar’s recent comments on white rappers and also accepts white artists in Hip Hop. N.O.R.E. shared his stance on the Brand Nubian rapper’s much-discussed comments during a video interview published this week with Vlad TV.
N.O.R.E. referred to Lord Jamar as being “correct,” but also took note of the fact that things have changed in Hip Hop since its inception decades ago.
“I believe what he’s saying is correct, but times have changed…I think that you can’t ever really argue with a bunch of fools and be looked at as being smart,” said N.O.R.E. “A wise man told me a long time ago, ‘Don’t ever argue with a fool cause from afar people can’t tell which one is the fool and which one is the wise man.’ Now, I think that Lord Jamar is absolutely right in how the foundation of Hip Hop started. To a certain extent it should remain that way, to a certain extent.”

While speaking on Jamar and his remarks, N.O.R.E. referenced his father and both of his grandfathers. He revealed that due to their age, his grandfathers and his father were set in their ways when it concerned how they felt about people of a different race and/or sexual orientation.
“I welcome white Hip Hop. I welcome that,” said the rapper. “You know what I’m saying? But I see where he’s coming from. As a person who’s—I’m 36. I think Lord Jamar he’s 46 or in his 40s. I’m a couple of years younger, but I see where he’s talking about. So, I know the era he’s speaking about and those people who was doing it at the time. Those four fathers would probably frown on this. You know what I’m saying? But look at it like this. I look at it like this, my father was anti-gay. He was anti anything that resembled gay. Like he had family members in his family he never spoke to because they were gay…What I’m saying is those people can’t be talked out of how they feel. They feel the fuckin way they feel. And that’s it.”
N.O.R.E. also spoke briefly on Yelawolf’s comments geared towards Lord Jamar and stated that it “wasn’t a good thing.” The Alabama emcee told Jamar to “shut the fuck up” during an interview with Vlad TV after the New York lyricist referred to white rappers as “guests in the house of Hip Hop” while speaking with Vlad in September.

“Okay, white rappers, you’re coming to this almost as a guest,” said Lord Jamar. “Okay, matter of fact you are guests in the house of Hip Hop. Just because you have a hit record doesn’t give you the right as I feel to voice your opinion…This is our shit. We’ve allowed you, those of you who’ve proved your skill and all that, we’ve allowed you to come in and kick your shit, make yourself known. You know what I mean? And if you have enough respect for the culture we fuck with you. But don’t push it too far.”
