After topping the list last week with his appearance on Sway In The Morning, this week’s #1 is again a product of the same Kanye West interview but with a twist via a remix from producer and deejay Halo (DJ H2). On the sixth anniversary of his passing, an unreleased Pimp C verse gets added to Jay Z’s summer anthem, “Tom Ford,” as both a celebration of the late rapper’s life and Jay’s own 44th birthday. The #3 spot gets taken by the third collaboration between Georgia emcee and actor Childish Gambino and Chicago native Chance The Rapper. “The Worst Guys” is set to appear on Gambino’s upcoming because the internetalbum, which is slated for release next Tuesday (December 10).

Justin Timberlake’s “TKO” single gets a Black Friday remix with verses from J. Cole, A$AP Rocky, and Pusha T at #4. Cole’s verse in particular stands out as a particularly late response to Kendrick Lamar’s now ubiquitous “Control” verse with the Fayetteville emcee rapping about the post-verse commentary that accompanied the original. The Top 5 is rounded out with Kendrick Lamar’s own appearance in an advertisement for the Beats by Dre product line and what appears to be a novel and unreleased Lamar verse. The rest of the list includes another Kendrick appearance courtesy of Kanin at #6, Krayzie Bone’s “Rap God” remix at #7, and the Method Man featuring “Trillmatic” from the A$AP Mob at #10.

Kanye West’s “You Ain’t Got The Answers” Comment Gets Remixed

With the original audio and video from the interview having quickly spread across the Internet, Kanye West’s comments on Sway In The Morning regarding his own inability to break into the fashion industry get a remix this week from producer/deejay Halo (DJ H2). Halo, who has worked with emcees like Wordsworth and Charles Hamilton in the past, looped up portions of the conversation from the show atop an original beat. In particular, the track finds West’s “You ain’t got the answers” criticism looped repetitively along with corresponding comments like “I been doing this more than you” and “You ain’t been doing the education!” littered throughout. Last week, footage of the interview topped DX’s Top 10 at #1 and this week’s Halo remix follows suit.

An Unreleased Pimp C Verse Released On Jay Z’s Birthday

With this past Wednesday (December 4) doubling as Jay Z’s 44th birthday and the sixth anniversary of Pimp C’s death, an unreleased verse from the deceased rapper gets added to Jay’s “Tom Ford” hit for a posthumous remix. The two artists first collaborated famously on Jay’s late ‘90s, Timbaland-produced hit “Big Pimpin’” song and video, a track that allowed a new level of commercial success for Pimp C and Bun B as the Underground Kingz. This recent remix, also produced by Timbaland, leaves Hov’s lyrics in their original state with the added Pimp C portion arriving shortly after the 3-minute mark. In his short verse, Pimp C makes explicit reference to his former partner in rhyme and the success they achieved as UGK. “This ain’t no motherfucking ‘91 / We out here rappin’ for money, you niggas rappin’ for fun,” he says, “I don’t fuck with nobody in this shit but Bun / Finna give me a million you gotta give that nigga one.” Pimp C passed away in a Los Angeles hotel room in late 2007 as a result of an overdose from promethazine and codeine.

Childish Gambino Enlists Chance The Rapper For “The Worst Guys”

With because the internet slated for release next Tuesday (December 10), California-by-way-of-Georgia artist Childish Gambino lets loose his Chance The Rapper featuring “The Worst Guys” as a single. The two emcees have collaborated previously, first on Gambino’s 2012 mixtape Royalty on a song called “They Don’t Like Me” and again on Chance’s now-popular mixtape Acid Rap earlier in the year, in that case for “Favorite Song.” On this recent collective outing, which also carries an accompanying set of visuals to match, the Chicago emcee delivers the repetitive hook while Gambino holds down the song’s two verses. “At a Clippers’ game on the court-side,” he raps, “Watch a nigga shoot like 4, 5 / They mad at me too I got more fire.” The video for “The Worst Guys” can be streamed below.
