Lil Duval Says Lord Jamar's White Rapper Comments Are Contradictory

Lil Duval not bothered by artists of other races in Hip Hop, says Lord Jamar has an old school mentality.

Nearly a month and a half after Brand Nubian rapper Lord Jamar criticized fellow emcee Macklemore and other white Hip Hop artists, comedian Lil Duval has stepped forward to give his thoughts on Jamar’s controversial remarks.

While speaking to Vlad TV this week, Duval referred to Jamar as “old school” and questioned how someone can be bothered by an artist of another race or sexuality if what they’re doing isn’t affecting their money.

“I think Lord Jamar is old school and most old school people, we tend to go with all that, ‘It ain’t like it used to be. This, that, and blasé blasé,’” the actor/comedian said during his VladTV interview. “Which it ain’t supposed to be like it is. Things change. When I was a kid, my mama used to say, ‘Turn that biggity bop music off.’ Hip hop. Now we’re grown and we that person. So, I mean as far as white people rapping, who gives a fuck? Is it fuckin’ up yo money? No. I don’t care if a gay person raps. It’s not fuckin’ up my money. Even if it was, it don’t bother—I’m not insecure enough—what he does, what he do don’t make me shit. That’s how I look at anything. So, with that comment and how he feels like that, it sounds like it’s a little more and maybe he’s looking at it from his standpoint and I just don’t see it, but I just see how is this affecting you though?”

Lil Duval later stated that those like Lord Jamar are contradicting themselves with their comments about Hip Hop making its way into areas outside of the black community.

“Maybe he’s talking for the culture or something, but the culture is about growing,” said Duval. “And if the majority of the population is more than just blacks in the inner-city. So, if you downing a white person doing it that means you’re killing the culture yourself because you’re unhappy that it’s reached millions and millions of people. So, really you’re contradicting yourself. So, it’s bullshit. That’s a good statement. You can use that one.”

During a September interview with Vlad TV, Lord Jamar referred to white rappers as “guests in the house of Hip Hop” and stated that the genre is “a black man’s thing.”

“Okay, white rappers, you’re coming to this almost as a guest,” said Jamar, during his interview several weeks ago. “Okay, matter of fact you are guests in the house of Hip Hop. Just because you have a hit record doesn’t give you the right as I feel to voice your opinion. White rappers, those of y’all who really studied the culture, that truly love Hip Hop and all that, keep it real with yourself, you know this is a black man’s thing. We started this. This is our shit.”

It's amazing that as a ethnic group which has been subjected to wild disrespect, maltreatment, murder, and a whole host of other wrong doing's within the borders of this country, he [Lord Jamar] can regurgitate the same injustices, alienating mind-set and prejudice towards any other ethnic group or sexual orientation. Lord Jamar is bitter, at what? I couldn't tell you for sure. but one thing that is very evident is that his religious choices proves his state of mind and point of view. for anyone who see's this comment and say's 5%'ers/NGE isn't a religion, I'll ask you a simple question... Where did the 5-percenters originate from? At the end of the day, it is individuals such as Lord Jamar and his flock of followers on twitter and youtube who help propel a continuing negative tone to society, especially within Hip Hop. You claim that Caucasian's are "guests" but yet on Brand Nubians first album "one for All" Brand Nubian(being one of the accredited names as producers) sampled a Billy Joel record ("Just The Way You Are") for their cut "Feels So Good"(1). "Michael Sarsfield" mastered Lord Jamar's solo LP "The 5% Album" and he is a Caucasian (2 & 3). and 1 final contradictory act, one his solo album in question, he has a track produced by Rza titled "Deep Space", Rza samples a female Ukrainian named "Sofia Rotaru"(4). So if Caucasian's are guest's, then is Lord Jamar saying that he is willing to utilize them in his means of music but they do not deserve the credit or respect of being labeled residents? or should we over look the Caucasian's who aided and assisted in his musical compositions? Lord Jamar is a contradiction, and more individuals, especially those within the industry need to speak out and against his arrogant and ignorant views. ==== (1) = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_for_All_%28Brand_Nubian_album%29 (2 & 3) = http://www.discogs.com/artist/Michael+Sarsfield#q=lord+jamar&t=&p=1 & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_5%25_Album (4) = http://www.whosampled.com/Lord-Jamar/

all you gotta do is read the guests' replies, see they ain't gonna change. they're still using the lying bullet-points their parents were using years ago, lol look at how they treat this site, you still think they have good intentions and respect? they don't even know the difference between a culture and an art-form, what realistic & insightful convo can you have with them?

    • make1

Although the initial commenter is an idiot for grouping an entire ethnic group under the banner of a few anonymous posters, You (the individual who say's he is a "genetic recessive") is just as much an idiot as he is. You throw that combo word around "Genetic Recessive" but yet lack the proper understanding of what it even means. first and foremost, Skin pigmentation has nothing to do with genetic recessive qualities, it actually pertains to the ethnic group origin. African's having a high deposit of Melanin (the item which causes the dark pigmentation) due to their higher exposure to UV light which can cause irreversible cell damage if not filtered. Melanin is natures natural sun-block. Caucasians would require less Melanin as their ethnic background and origin were from regions of Europe which had lower levels of UV exposure, thus requiring more Hair to trap and harbor warmth and less Melanin which caused lighter skin. If you want to be disrespect to anyone, atleast be intelligent when doing so.

Jesus... EVERYBODY is taking Lord Jamar's OUT OF CONTEXT. Lord Jamar didn't say that white people aren't allowed in the Hip Hop culture, he said that Hip Hop is an art form that American Blacks created!!

    • Make1

No one is taking his words out of context, people are attempting to defend his arrogant and ignorant view points because of how insensitive and wrong they come off as. who died and made Lord Jamar the vanguard of anything? who is he to determine who are "Guests" and who are "residence"?

  • P. C.

Lil Duval is right in that Lord Jamar is contradicting himself. 1st off, Rick Rubin and the Beastie Boys are just as important to Hip Hop as many pioneers of Hip Hop. If anyone knew much about history, you would know that New York can't be the birthplace of Hip Hop cause Jazz/Blues music was spoken word (rap) back when black folks was slaves! So, everyone is a guest in something. Hip Hop used to set trends, now they wearing gay ass clothes like 1970's Rock Stars!

I am an African American All my Asian B-Boys recognize HipHop as an African-American artform and that they are guests within the culture and they feel honored to be guests and they have added some special ingredients to the culture and given it nothing but respect. I recognize Karate as an Asian artform and I am at present a brown belt within the art, I am proud to be a guest within an Asian artform and honored to be considered a guest by the origintors of the art.

F*ck off Jamar! It's just as ridiculous as me saying "Okay, black basketball players, youre coming to this almost as a guest,Okay, matter of fact you are guests in the court of Basketball. Just because you can dunk doesnt give you the right as I feel to voice your opinion. Black ballers, those of yall who really studied the culture, that truly love Basketball and all that, keep it real with yourself, you know this is a white mans thing. We started this. This is our shit.F*cking Dickhead Jamar!

    • Anonymous

Sick faggitt, only a disgusting inbred Neaderthal would compare a fucking sport to a culture. Whites own Basketball as owners, GMs and coaches, just like they own HipHop as record executives, label owners, LiL Duvall is an ignorant little bitch who didn't even understand what Lord Jamar said and why the fuck is Duvall commenting on HipHop culture as if he's somehow on the level of Lord Jamar who is an actual member of the HipHop community and a respected elder?

  • poppa large

i understand jamar but thats just one way of looking at it. universally music is music and people ultimately need to think outside of there narrow reality tunnels. also keeping it about race only encourages more division and is backwards. i feel people who hold jamars view feel that way because they really love the culture but also cause they are victims or race baiting and also cause they have a more egotistical identification with hip hop, using it to make themselves feel super legit and authentic and important. like i said universally music is for everyone. why build mental prisons and be like only black people can do rap as non guests?

    • Anonymous

i like how you just keep regurgitating the same shit over and over, FOR YEARS!

Yeah I seen a white boy that's the biggest selling artist in the history of HipHop dress up in full drag in two seeperate rap videos with wigs on, heels and pantyhose. I seen the same white boy moon us at his concert and expose his buttocks on a red carpet and in the movie "8 Mile". Same kid let a naked Borat tea-bag him at an awards show in front of millions. Dyed blonde hair and lyrics about sex with his step-dad......yeah we see you

blacks been femminizing and emasculating hip-hop way more than whitey ever did son. when you ever seen a white rapper wearing a skirt or a dress?

Grafiti has existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire fuck nigga

    • Anonymous

Black people in the inner city couldn't afford instruments so we created scratching and beat-boxing, we couldn't afford art supplies so we created Graffitti, we took the African griot patois and started rapping to the drum beats, the drum being a norm of African culture and we created breakdancing the dance also being an integral part of our African culture. We included all those elements and created HipHop culture. Our Latino family were there with us from the beginning especially in B-boying and Graffitti, they have always respected the culture. Some outsiders have no respect for the culture, they will bring gayness into the culture and try to effeminize and emasculate the masculine energy that HipHop was built on.

Blacks and Hispanics may have created rap music but us whites made homosexual songs popular in rap music and we just sold a million copies of a gay rap song while their Dead Prez rap group has never sold a million. Sorry Blacks and Hispanics but we won and EM is a Rap God.

Devilish and evil whites did everything within their power to destroy the Black family and fatherhood within African American culture. For 400 years whites would rape black men, women and children here in America, no man, woman or child was safe on the plantations and sex farms were whites subjected Africans to torture, mutilation, rape, castration, and forced breeding. The African man was helpless to protect his women and children from the cruel whites and often the whites would sell the children to other white men and then sell the father to a different white man and then sell the mother to a different white man. The traditional fabric of family was destroyed and broken for 400 years in America and remnants of that still remain just like the Ku Klux Klan still remains. Whites love to mock how the African American family is still fragmented to a degree because by mocking us it reminds them of the savage cruelty and barbaric practices that they inflicted on us to put us in our present condition.

they always reciting that outdated klan pamphlet! lol your parents & teachers been lying to you, it's your genetic code, you ain't built for that all those centuries of whites raping countries and you'll lose majority in such a swift time! and many of you are so ignorant, you want no abortion, which will speed the process! throw in your women, gays, & sperm banks and what did you expect? some of your dads don't even know your not their sons, lol lmao

because you africans cant stop having multiple kids with multiple partners so you outnumber everyone! thats why the average american will be black in 40 years! its too bad the average american wont know who his daddy is either

    • HUH

How'd you like that "What the average American will look like by 2050 according to Nat. Geographic" cover. Sorry whites. We Won..LOL But everyone's African anyways.

Awesome! LiL Duval is friggin right me and my dad went to an Indian reservation and we learned how to do their dances and their songs and now we go all around the world representing their culture doing their song and dance and we don't fuckin feel like we are guests of the indigenous culture they created because its actually ours because we learned how to mimic it. The Blacks and Latinos may have created HipHop culture out of poverty and oppressin but we took it and gave them Em's cross-dressing and Mackelmores same-sex platinum songs so hahahahaha we won!

  • scott123

i hate lil duval but hes right...we cant be reverse racist towards white people telling them theyre guest in hip hop in 2013? its over for that kind of mentality....and jamar making statements like that bout macklemore...macklemore is actually a really talented artist..a lot of his songs have great messages behind them..im a black guy but hip hop is hip hop it comes n all colors..and im pretty sure eminem isnt considered a guest in rap..hes a fukking legend..not because hes white but because lyricly hes probably the best alive...

Fimenem is a guest and he always will be, he made racist rap songs, dressed up as Brittney Spears and let Borat tea-bag him on national TV so he's a homosexual legend and a disgrace to the culture. ....however I do give him credit for bringing homosexuality, pedophilia, beastiality, incest and matricide into the culture. No other rapper has dyed their hair blonde shaved off all their facial hair and wore a bra and panty hose to imitate their mother in a rap video so he's a hero to his people.

  • True2HipHop

Lord Jamar is correct & R.A. the Rugged Man even agrees, such as I. White rappers are guest in a culture that arose out of oppression for the urban community. Yes white's have always played a role in hip hop they however didn't always rap. They just owned a label or were the $$ person to go to. If a whit rapper is going to Rap & try to succeed they need to remember where it's roots came from and what it's about. Don't be corny & don't just do it for money/fame. Have passion otherwise you're just helping to water it down like YMCMB, Drake, or any wack trapper rapper.
