Coalmine Records has released “Land Of The Crooks,” a track by Billy Danze, Sean Price and Maffew Ragazino. The song is a Brooklyn, New York anthem, meant to be released to coincide with the start of the Brooklyn Nets’ season.
“This is the most incredible track I’ve heard in a while,” Billy Danze says in an exclusive statement to HipHopDX. “M-Phazes put the track together well. You could feel the passion in the production. It’s almost as if he’s from Brooklyn himself. Slapping drums, thick bass line and sick hook.”
As soon as Danze heard the track, he says he knew he needed to record his vocals on it.

“They sent me the track and asked if I’d jump on it,” Danze says. “I said, ‘Hell yeah.’ And my Brownsville homies are on it too. It couldn’t be anything less then sick. It’s an honor to represent my city through good music. This is definitely a Kings County anthem.”
“Land of the Crooks” also features scratches from DJ Babu of Dilated Peoples. On the selection, Babu cuts up Jeru The Damaja’s lyrics regarding Brooklyn. “Live in the land of the crooks,” Damaja says. “Yes, Brooklyn’s the borough.” The line comes from “D. Original” off Jeru’s 1994 The Sun Rises In The East album.
“Land of the Crooks” is also set to be included on Unearthed, a Coalmine Records compilation slated for a January 2014 release.
