B.o.B. says his upcoming album, Underground Luxury, slated to be released December 2013, is set to a better musical album than any of the other projects released this year.

“For me, it’s great because I would have the best musical album out this year, like hands down,” B.o.B. in an interview with MTV. “That’s no knock to anybody, any of the greats like Jay [Z] and Kanye [West] because I enjoyed their albums, but musically, what I put into this album is gonna be the best album this year.”

This year, Jay Z released Magna Carta…Holy Grail and Kanye West released Yeezus. Other notable releases came by way of other rappers, including Drake (Nothing Was The Same), Big Sean (Hall of Fame) and J. Cole (Born Sinner), among others.

“This year was a crazy year, everybody put out an album, but I feel like just the energy that’s back in hip-hop, it’s like back what you saw in the ’90s when it was real superstar energy,” he said. “I feel like that’s very present among us.”

Last month, B.o.B. discussed the album and explained its title.

“I want to say that this project is a project that is kind of like a contrasting title, you know, Underground Luxury,” B.o.B. said in an interview with Montreality. “I would say, to paraphrase it, this is connecting the dots, from who I was as an artist before the major success to where I’m at now. And it’s a lot more unfiltered and unedited than anything I’ve ever done. So I think it’s going to be a great project, great, monumental, career shifting project. I’m actually done with it, but we’re really just having fun with it, man. We’re making a movie, you know, me and my team. We’re just kind of sitting back and watching everything, watching how people respond to music.”
