2 Chainz has made headlines this year, but not always for the best of reasons. In addition to a robbery at gunpoint this past Summer, the rapper was recently arrested during a tour bus drug bust.

In an interview on DJ Skee’s “Skee Live,” the Def Jam artist explained how he keeps the negative media scrunity from getting to him.

“You just keep it moving. I come from an urban, challenged background,” he explained. “I come from an apartment…and a bunch of guys raised by single mothers. I made it in a lot of people’s eyes. Once people, or the law, whoever figures that we’re roughly on the same team, because I’m out here, basically just tryin’ to feed my family. You know, paying taxes…and none of us are perfect. Let me be the first to say that.”

The Artist Formerly Known as Tity Boi explained that he was hoping to live life that would hopefully serve as motivation for others. “But, just for me, I’m just trying to be some kind of example, some type of inspiration for someone that’s behind someone that’s coming up to know, ‘You kinda got rights. You storta have rights.'”

“I’m successful, but I try to give back, I try to entertain, I try to be a people’s person, I try not to be a jerk, I try to treat everybody the same,” he added.
