Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control (HOF)” has been the subject of endless discussion, analysis, and response from emcees.

On the track Kendrick calls out a slew of rappers, and also called himself the King of New York.

Among the emcees to respond to the track, whether on wax or otherwise, included King Los, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and Drake.

One artist who was called out on the track, but didn’t feel a need to respond, was A$AP Rocky. In an interview with Revolt TV, the New York ecmee explained his thought process in not responding.

“I feel like everything’s going to be blown out of proportion these days,” said Rocky of the whirlwind of responses and controversy that have followed the verse. “Of course it is. It’s Hip Hop. He did what he did and I think people who had a problem with it said something. People who didn’t have a problem with it didn’t.”

A$AP Rocky was on-site for the Made in America Festival in Philadelphia, which also features Public Enemy, 2 Chainz, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, as well as countless other acts.
