Kanye West spoke about his relationship with Kim Kardashian during an appearance on Kris Jenner’s talk show “Kris,” which aired today (August 23).
“I’m trying to remember if the first time we met was her being in the studio when she was Brandy’s assistant,” Kanye West said. “I think she brought us in something to drink that you can’t drink on daytime TV, but we were in the studio so it was okay. Or it might have been when I was doing Brandy’s video. I remember asking my manager, ‘Who is that girl?'”
The show’s host, Kris Jenner, who is Kim Kardashian’s mother, asked West if he felt “love at first sight” upon meeting Kardashian.

“Definitely,” West said.
Beyond acknowledging love at first sight, Kanye also addressed the difficulty he had with relationships after his mother passed in 2008.
“Since my mom passed, it was very difficult and hard to find love,” West said. “It’s hard for anyone to find love, especially if you’re in a position of being famous or, as they call me now, polarizing…There’s times when I wasn’t with her, I wanted to be with her so bad that I thought about taking up sports.”

West also addressed other struggles he’s had since the passing of his mother.
“After I lost my mother there were times I felt like I would put my life at risk,” West said. “I felt like sometimes I didn’t have something to live for. Now I have two really special people to live for, a whole family to live for. I want people, when they remember me and my family, their thought association to be someone who helped, someone who brought joy.”
Kanye also defended his relationship with Kardashian, despite criticism he’s gotten as a result of being with her.

“I could have people saying, ‘This is going to damage your credibility as an artist or a designer,'” West said. “And I say, ‘I don’t care. I love this woman.’ Or someone could say, ‘When the paparazzi surround you, everyone knows you don’t like the paparazzi. Why would you be with this person?’ And I’m saying, ‘I’m being with this person because I love this person and she’s worth it to me.”
