Wale, one of the rappers mentioned in Kendrick Lamar’s much-discussed appearance on Big Sean’s “Control,” recently spoke about his reaction to the verse. 

“I would’ve been offended if my name wasn’t in that shit,” Wale said in an interview with TMZ. “So shout out to TDE and shout out to Kendrick.”

Wale also said how he feels about his status among Hip Hop’s greats. 

“I still feel like I’m the best rapper on the planet,” Wale said. “I feel like that and you should too, TMZ.”

Lamar’s verse mentions Wale, among other rappers. 

“I’m usually homeboys with the same niggas I’m rhymin’ with,” Lamar said on the song. “But this is Hip Hop and them niggas should know what time it is. That goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron[ica], Tyler[, the Creator], Mac Miller. I got love for you all but I’m tryin’ to murder you niggas. Trying to make sure your core fans never heard of you niggas [and that] they don’t want to hear not one more noun or verb from you niggas. What is competition? I’m trying to raise the bar high.” 

Yesterday (August 14), several rappers spoke about Kendrick Lamar’s verse. Iggy Azalea said the verse was “amazing” and that it was “over-sensationalized.” Cassidy, who released one of many diss song responses to the verse, praised Lamar’s “heart” and said he’s “excited” about the track.
