Kendrick Lamar Says He's "Trying To Murder" Drake, J. Cole, Wale On Big Sean's "Control"

Kendrick Lamar also says he is "trying to murder" Big K.R.I.T., Pusha, T, A$AP Rocky, Jay Electronica, Tyler, the Creator and Mac Miller on Big Sean's "Control." Lamar also crowns himself "the king of New York" and "king of the Coast" on the track.

Kendrick Lamar says he is "trying to murder" rappers on Big Sean's "Control," a song that leaked Monday (August 12), which also features Jay Electronica

"I'm usually homeboys with the same niggas I'm rhymin' with," Kendrick Lamar says on the song. "But this is Hip Hop and them niggas should know what time it is. That goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron[ica], Tyler[, the Creator], Mac Miller. I got love for you all but I'm tryin' to murder you niggas. Trying to make sure your core fans never heard of you niggas [and that] they don't want to hear not one more noun or verb from you niggas. What is competition? I'm trying to raise the bar high."

The line above follows Lamar's claims that "new" rappers are currently left out of many "debates" he's heard about.

"I heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time," Lamar says on the track. "About who's the best emcee? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas, Eminem, Andre 3000. The rest of y'all new niggas [are] just new niggas. Don't get involved."

Another Lamar statement on the song addresses his status in New York and the West Coast, following a remark likely inspired by Tupac Shakur.

"I'm Makaveli's offspring," Lamar raps, likely referring to Tupac's 1996 release as Makaveli, The Don Killuminati (The 7 Day Theory). "I'm the king of New York, king of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both."

Lamar's "king of New York" line was likely inspired by a 2010 selection, "Get Bizy," which featured Kendrick Lamar, Terrace Martin, Bad Lucc and Kurupt. "I'm important like the pope," Kurupt says on "Get Bizy." "I'm the king of New York. I'm live from South Central. I'm a Muslim on pork." Lamar's verse on "Control," which also references his "big homie Kurupt" by name, features the lines from "Get Bizy." "I'm important like the pope," Lamar rhymes on the song. "I'm a Muslim on pork."

"Control," which will reportedly not appear on Big Sean's Hall of Fame album, can be heard on HipHopDX and it can be streamed below.

Rappers, including Pusha T who was named in the song, began responding to Lamar's verse on Twitter soon after the song was leaked.

Okay first off I love how media puts things. There was an interview with big Sean or Kendrick that explains his song and how it's just a joke. He clearly states "I got love for you all" before but I'm trying to murdur you niggas...

Best move an emcee has made in a long while, he not only increased his own following 5-fold, but got people paying attention to the other artists he mentions and the ones that responded to him. Dude lit a fire under the whole genre's ass in 3 minutes, give him his fuckin props. Verse of the year, like it or not. Just wish it wasn't on that annoying ass beat, can barely listen to it

Kendrick's verse is dope as shit. Gotta say though Pusha been waiting for someone to say his name, pushing half the industry for awhile even. Few people understand Pusha outside that "coke" shit, dude an incredible emcee. If he makes a track, shit could get real. I look forward to it, shit's good for hip-hop.

I really do think that people are blowing this whole thing out of proportion. I don't think this is an attack on anyone. Kendrick clearly states that he's "homeboys" with the same artists he rhymes with: Big Sean and Jay Electronica. Kendrick does use the word "usually", but I think that refers to the music industry being something like the saying "crabs in a bucket": Everyone for themselves. If anything, he's just pushing the artists to be more creative and lyrical with their music. I don't think the artists need to lose their anger over this. There are bigger issues in this world than being "king", "best of all time," etc. These artists need to grow up and be more mature than the audience they're catering to.

  • j dirty

Sounds like Kendrick is takin a page outta The Game's book...How many names he drop in that one verse?ol sorry lookin for attention ass fool.Hope PushaT Bodies his ass.

i think Kendrick is what the Hiphop industry neeeded, errbody's fforming cliques and playing it safe nowadays but what inspired hiphop stardom was the fact that there were no teams hookin up with other teams when it started and i think K-Dot sat down saw this and decided todo it for the love of hiphop, the roots of it and screw everybody, this ish gone resonate through out history as the turning point in modern day hiphop, no wait, modern day Rap!!!

  • Gucci

Gucci Mane is the realest rapper and heres why. - all other rappers rap about being gangster shooting and killing but they havent done it. - Eminem raps about killing he hasnt. - Jay z raps in open letter about sending shots he hasnt. - T.I. snitch to the feds - Young Jeezy was never bmf - 50 Cent snitch and was never in jail but a youthcamp - Game was never a banger but lived the life of his brother in his lyrics - Nas Escobar never sold drugs - Ice Cube never was a gangbanger - Dr Dre never was a gangbanger - Snoop was never a crip - 2pac was a ballerina and never sold drugs after he become famous he was doing some stupid stuff like beating and shooting at people because he though he could get away with it. Without Suge Knight 2pac was just a skinny motherf*cker. - Mobb deep are the biggiest cowards in rap they are short as midgets and keep talking this g sh*t but never did g sh*t. - Most of the rappers rap about stuff they havent done yet you all support them and say its real rap. - When rick ross does it you all claim he is fake and say its fake rap. This shows that hiphop fans are hypocritical and all these real hiphop fan wanna be's are just some unjustified haters whose opinions are just as irrelevent as the swag fag rapper fans. BIG GUWOP KILLED A MAN HE WAS A DRUG DEALER BEFORE RAPPER HE HAS STREET CREDENTIALS HE IS THE ONLY RAPPER THAT RAPS ABOUT FACTS THERE FORE BIG GUWOP IS THE REALEST RAPPER IN THE RAP GAME AND THATS A FACT!

  • da1

I liked his energy and the verse itself. It definitely got me hyped. He's the only one beside Drake out that bunch that can go platinum and consistently make hit songs. So It's not like what he said was far fetched. But I still think that J. Cole is a better lyricist then Kendrick. Still some hot stuff though.

  • dwes79

He's trying to make nigga's stand on there on two and bring the lyricism back to the game...Kendrick is playing Jedi-mind games with hip-hop...The sad reality that Kendrick does not understand or can't fathom is that nigga's is already lost...Some in their own lanes, while, others are mundane...If you notice, certain niggas didn't get mad because they understand what he's doing...It's like this one guy in Ohio that got pissed about everybody marching for Trayvon M., but stating stating nobody care about the niggas getting killed everyday by they own kind. So, how do niggas respond to this guy, they attack with no understanding of what he is actually trying to accomplish...Which, is to tell the fans; either listen to someone with substance or stop listening to these lames all together.

Hmm I like Kendrick but he needs to know his place. Section 80 Great, GKMC near classic, but come on now.......He needs to slow his roll. He is not up there yet with Jay, Nas, and Eminem, and Kanye. The others are below him so yea hes putting excitement back in a semi boring rap game.

I just think Kendrick is saying: Step your games up because im here to out do all the comp. Its not just about sells its about being skilled with your art... but the verse has some meaningless filler but he sold it with the passion in the delivery.

  • Matt

Freddie Foxxx was right. The fact that a dope verse is getting so much HYPE is one of the reasons hip hop is in a bad state. When a young and popular MC has a great verse it's like the world is ending. I guess that's what happens when the young and popular mc's for the past couple years have been guys like Drake and Lil Wayne.

Honestly, they all got off on this track! Hip Hop is lyrical again!!!

Okay Wtf is with everybody hating on what he did i really do not understand why every body hated this move from Kendrick he's right he has love and respect for talented artist but at the end he wants to be the best, and most selling fuck your sells we cool and all but I'm trying to eat ahhaha plus he should've left A$AP Rocky off of that short list. Don't get me wrong i like Rocky but when he first started to get popular i was like okay he got bars, but after i really started to listen to him I'm like okay he has his moments but 90% of his raps he doesn't really say anything

    • Str82dapoint

Man you need to learn to use punctuation better. This shit was hard to read but you got a good point. Kendrick is just trying to get other MCs to step their game up. He's saying let's make each other better by challenging each other.

    • Anonymous

I dont know what they want him to say, yo am raps si the same as them other nigga, F that! nigga i am better

this was a good way to have one rap point out to the other raps that he named that they should start push rap and hiphop to new directions. hes doesnt mean murder literally he means in rapping of course. stir it up a little bit and you get ppl trying to put out better shit and bring up the game completely. and then he calls out ny bascially saying if i didnt say your name then you should be doing better raps, and he did it for the west coast too.... call it what you want but ppl are going to start hearing some crazy good ass rap songs coming up. Personally ive been waiting for pusha t to rep VA again. Kendrick... nicely done

  • Anonymous

It's funny, because just about all of the rappers Kendrick called out in his verse are whack anyway. Pretty funny how he is so proud about being better than Meek, Mac Miller, Drake, etc. Like someone else in the comments said: let's see you drop a better verse than dudes who can ACTUALLY RAP, and then we'll talk.

    • Anonymous

"Drake is more successful, popular, richer, and his impact is everywhere." And what does this has to do with skills? NOTHING!!

    • Anonymous

      Drake is a pop artist.

    • ^^^

Wrong, bitch. Success and fame only means you're popular, not good. Kendrick's hype is not dying.

    • Anonymous

Drake is more successful, popular, richer, and his impact is everywhere. Kendrick barely limped over platinum with his hype dying every week, and your acting like he's the GOAT.

    • Anonymous

His verses on Section.80 and GKMC are better than most rappers verses. He might not have as much wordplay or internal rhymes, but keep in mind it's harder to be lyrical when you actually have a topic. The rappers you listen to probably drop endless verses with no meaning and random subject matter.

  • psyber

Average verse. Take out all the name droppin and this becomes a wack verse. Not sure what all the hype is about...oh wait, the names...

    • psyber

How bout the fact that there was barely 2 punchlines. Bars with words that didn't even rhyme. Mispronouncing words just to fit the rhyme, i.e. New "Yolk". I'm sorry but if you gon diss every rapper and claim the throne, you gotta go harder than that. At least come correct on the basic elementary skills of rap.

    • Anonymous

1st- nice publicity stunt, never seen kendrick trending or #1 trending before 2nd. Kendrick had one of the best albums of 2012 and Section 80 before that was very good as well, Big Krit had a really nice album as well and content wise rich dad, poor dad could go up against any song on GKMC, Nas also had one of the best albums last year. This year has been very slow. 3rd. the responses today " wow kendrick is raising the bar", "thanks Kendrick", "that's my nigga" The responses 10 years ago "your a house nigga guy, andre 3 stacks, good kid aight but aint no aquemini, thats why you dont sound good live because all your tracks are synthesized" but maybe someone will make this interesting.

    • sam snead

I also did not mention Lil Wayne at all, I just read that never mind your a clown by just bringing him up

    • sam snead

you really misread the comments especially the last point I was making about the responses, I never said kendrick was not dope, it was my take on the situation

    • j

Rich Dad poor Dad cant compare to sing about me and the art of peer pressure. Im from Houston and I've been listening to Kendrick when he was known as the rapper. That's years ago. And honestly andre 3000 flo is better than his 90s flo that's why his considered one of the best. And if you don't think his trying to raise the bar then your stuck in the 90s honestly. His bringing hip hop back to where it use to be telling everybody they need to step there game up I guess you like lil wayne huh..?

What an overhyped, overrated, arrogant little punk. I hope Kendrick gets what he wants and someboby takes his head off.

    • Anonymous

@smokealone, it was in the name of competition, it wasn't meant to be a diss verse, all the guys he name dropped he's worked alongside in the past and is on good terms with, Big Sean & Jay Electronica were literally on the same song & didn't take offense

    • wh577141

My boy's not being arrogant, all he's saying is that these guys are his competition. If anything, its a compliment to all those guys, since he left out a bunch of "talked about" rappers

So many niggas on here catching feelings saying that this verse wasn't all that. thats only cause KENDRICK LAMAR BODIED YOUR FAV MC. He gave respect to the legends, and went at the weakest members in the rap food chain. HAHAHA your fav rapper prolly responded to the verse in some way, go check the twitter feed

  • Jack town Vet

If you can't tell Em wrote Lamar's verse, you need remedial rap classes.

That's like saying I want to "murder" the Miami Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Washington Wizards, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Detroit Shock (which may or may not even be in Detroit any more). His verse was pretty nice though...all of them were.

  • Anonymous

A west coast rapper calling himself the King of New York???... That's a BOLD move. Be that as it may, Drake won't respond. He's not that type of rapper. He'd rather just make his pop rap party music about girls.

  • Jay Kid 2 Fly

I'm a Cali kid, but a love hip hop music. I can't explain how proud I am of Kendrick Lamar and how ill he is. Bar none....y'all don't know what to do. I called it before GKMC and before Section 8.0. #kingofNY #kingofCA #yalldon'twantit #hediditonyall

  • dirty dirty

Jay Electronica king of the South and East Coast!!!!!!!!

  • Steel Toe

Kendrick Lamar never impressed me much. He's like the Kurt Kobain of rap. A little depressing if you ask me.. But at the same time the passion he puts into his lyrics one has to respect. Let's hope he really sticks to this "fuck money" thing and slowly transforms rap back to its roots. Before rap was about bragging about what you had and was about sharing stories and awareness with a little subliminal competition in your lyrics. Could Kendrick be the 2nd coming of real hip hop?

  • Brasshole81

I love the potential bars that will come out of this...but i hope Kendrick ready for whats coming.....he called out some heat spitters....and I just seen Fab getting in the studio too....I don't think he want that lyrical problem...honestly i dont think he want it with Pusha....just my opinion and not knocking Kendrick one bit

    • trill281

He went hard, no doubt about that he holdin shit down, but I dont think he can fuck with pusha and cole, he killed big sean on his own shit, that is

    • ha

    • kainp

Maaaan! He didn't call out any REAL spitters. Just a bunch of overrated clowns. He bigged up the dudes that really spit that shit i.e. 3000, Nas and Hov. Kendrick ain't stupid nor is he that great of a spitter.

    • kitty litter

I agree. But I think what he did was smart. He just created a whole bunch of work for himself because like you said, he's going to have a wholllle bunch of talented rappers firing back at him within the next few weeks. That means he gets to fire back at all those rappers individually when they do. Like a real estate agent that just found out he's got a whole bunch of houses to sell, it's work, but it's good.

  • GAV

What about Joel Ortiz or Corey Gunz. I love Kendrick lamar hes raw. But there are so much talent out there that it all depends on the listener. Now a days the listener strives for loud deliveries and choppy flows and can have shit for lyrics. Though K dot is nasty with wordplay, no doubt. But Idk Pusha T and Wale? Those two are pretty good. But Like I said you got Joel ortiz or how about COB from Crooked I's coast. BTW I'm a fan of Kendrick Lamar. He definitely inspired me to start flowing again. The shit he does on the radio station with the free styling truly off the top I can do, I'll flow till 2-3-4 am in the morning...I Love wordplay as well. Kendrick is raw but Idk about going after the game like this. But I do understand that this is an competitive sport. -GAV

  • Nasstill@it

    "you ask that from Hova"

  • look at me

Jay Electronica had alot of confidence on the mic and through his lyricism showed kendrick that you don't have to be all bark and not bite.

  • Nasstill@it

"and God is my witness you can ask that from", love Kendrick but Jay Elect>>>>>>

  • 490717

Kendrick on that kanye album don't put you in a category with men that survived 20 years in war

  • Money First

Kendrick killed this shit no doubt but honestly I like the way Jay Electronica hit that shit the best...It was smooth, direct, truthful and the lyrics were on point without sounding like he had a chip on his shoulder!!

  • UhOh Kendrick!

KL called out a lot of niggas lool i luv it, all dem dudes he called out better step dey game up lol if u a competitor. If dem niggas aint bout competition then they might aswell fade into obscurity.

  • shawdow boxin

    Good job Kenny

  • crate digga

This is why I search for good hip hop, because it gets over looked everyday. Thanks for the dope verse jay electronica. Kendrick should not be so ignorant in the game, and give props to underground hip hop.

  • Anonymous can call any rapper nw he can shit on any nigga out there #thatssituation

  • benben

Lets be real no matter what this is a wake up call! Artist in hip hop are suppose to be compitive thats the nature of it.I don't care what people say K.Dot and Jay Electronica were both hot. He was not trying to come up with a deep verse he was trying to get hip hop back alive thats his goal and obviously a lot of rappers agree. I'm just saying plus for all of Dick riding Drake fans. I am a fan of drake as well but Drake ain't got shit on K.Dot because K.Dot himself has made a debut classic and Drake hasn't made one classic yet! So it's obvious he's better. I'm not dick riding because I'm just gonna be real about artist, and this is some real sht.

  • CulturesClothing

Kendrick is extremely dope...that much is a fact. And his verse was also very dope. But of course you're going to be murdering MC's if your competition is Drake, A$AP Rocky, Meek Mill, etc. You want to start putting yourself in a conversation of the "Best of the Best"? Put yourself on a track with Qwel, Pharoahe Monch, Chino XL, Blu, Elzhi, etc. and eat those guys alive. Then I'll REALLY be impressed. I kind of expect Kendrick to bodybag J. Cole and guys like that. Talented MC, but not mind-blowing. Murder Hex One & Tek-nition of Epidemic and guys like that on tracks and I'll be more impressed. No hate...I like Kendrick a lot. Just truth.

    • drizzy!

BLU?! I love Blu, but Kendrick is clearly better than Blu. Both of them are on Pic Div's song Cross-Trainers.

Thank you Kendrick!! All this we all getting money thing took the Lyrics out the game. You have artist scared of competition pushing albums back and letting artist get a certain date to release theri album... who does that. Hiphop is build on skill not this we all eating ish. You nice you will eat, X Jay Nas Big Pac was dropping Albums at the same time. Raise the Bar Lamar. Stop all this Harmony get money ish and drop lyrical bombs and show who really is the best with you young dudes.

    • Jay

Was on no one nuts,I am stating facts. Hiphop has turned into a we are the world game. You don't push albums back because your friend album is coming out. Kendrick spoke volumes to MC's ( want to be MC's). You got Drake buying J Cole cds in best buy. That is cool that you are friends but when in the studio I am their to kill you. So Kendrick just put competition back into hiphop. You got dude going a Jay instead of going at their direct comp.

Look at these comments. Kendrick wins. Debates, arguments, and most importantly discussion. Some of you are highly disappointing to even remotely think this is "beef". This is equivalent to hooping with your friends and saying "YOU'RE GOING DOWN BITCH." Do you cry when that happens? This will set the bar higher so that people set their bars higher. Good for music. Point blank.

  • dentaldamboy

As an accountant for young money, i can confirm that we do not want beef with kendrick. Our whole crew is bitchmade, we can't rap or sell records anymore. the only thing we're good for is to be laughed at like a bunch of bitchmade clowns. We have no money and are going to be gay pornstars soon.

Let's be clear and end it here. Kendrick's verses were not a dis to anyone, PERIOD! This 20 something year old kid LOVES HIP-HOP, the old and new. Verses were meant to cause a debate and light up twit birds/social media sites. If you love hip-hop you gotta love how he delivered the verses. We need the debate, but keep civilize fellaz. Ain't nobody talking about no real gangster shi* over the net. It's music! If you love hip hop you are bumpin to this joint in your ride/ipod.

HAHAHAHHA!! The King Of New York? Why are these commercialize, Industry dudes trying to CLAIM that they are the Kings of Hip Hop Music? The list of people he is trying to murder isn't the most talented crop of dudes. Drake? Who the hell is Big K.R.I.T.? As for Meek Mill and Mack Miller, Kendrick needs to sit down. I don;t like none of those dudes but Meek and Mack would rip him. You want to be KONY? Take out Jay Z. I don't consider Jay the King but he does has skills.

  • JordanLebronMagicLarryWilt

I'm a fan of Kendrick Lamar but he's 0-2 on the mic when matched up with legends in my opinion. Jay-Z's bars were better on 'Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe (Remix)' and 50 Cent's bars were better on 'We Up'. K Dot should of saved this for an Eminem track instead of wasting it on Big Sean and the B-Version of Nas.

  • jraw

    • Dat Dude

I agree with Mr.HipHop... Kendrick just raised the bar on rappers who is luke warm in the game or worth to mention. What really funny is it took someone from the west coast to spark up the rap game. Kendrick respect the game and the folks he mention. Basically he just let all hip hop fans know he about hip hop sticking to straight basic dropping bars on other rappers. Respect his gangsta but young dude just Son NY rappers since it the birth place of hip hop and took it nationally and internationally (Drake).

I mean all the rappers he dissed were wack anyways. J. cole is boring, wale is trash, drake is a soft poser, big Sean is an idiot, ASAP rocky will be irrelevant, Mac miller sucks, big KRIT is overrated, pusha t fell off, meek mill is a nobody now, jay electronics barely makes any verses and Tyler the creator will murk Kendrick Lamar like he did to b.o.b. Besides, Macklemore sold more than this moron so he's not even the king of his own coast lol. But of course Justin Bieber, Chief Keef, Future, Hopsin, and Gucci Christ will murk this lame K Dot into obscurity and bring rel hip-hop back! It's Gucci Time!

What everything comes down to is the reaction you get frome hearing a verse. Everyone who heard this verse was like GOD DAMN after he was done. You can critique the lyrics all you want and the validity of the claims he made but he is utterly believable on this track. You can feel the fire he is spitting, and hes only gonna get better.

You'll suckas spit the same blah blah, (I can name ten rappers who are better than....). GTFOH with that! If that's the case, why didn't they drop these bars and where are they now? Point is, Kendrick took the initiative to say what he said. I'm sure there are tons of rappers who could spit better than him, some popular and some underground. Doesn't matter, at the end of the day, Kendrick spit what he spit and now it's up to everyone else to step their game up and respond if they choose to

  • Anonymous

so you know whats next right? a remix with everyone he just called out. dope shit kendrick!! time to separate the real from the fake and see who actually is the best of the newer class and can really spit some bars.this will be like the games one blood remix back in the day.

Let's not take anything away from Big Sean though. He did his thing as well, and it takes a lot of heart to include Kendrick's verse after hearing it. That nigga just shook shit up. I love it.

  • Rey

Kendrick's verse is a debate sparker. Hip hop is a love/hate thing in my opinion. Times like these I love. This new era of rappers has a nigga like me, who only listened to old school legends actually back in tune with some recent music.Lets give big Sean some credit though. Cause he killed it too FYI. This track invites hators, critics, fans all in one. All in all I hope more interesting music comes out like this. Cause I'm a fan of this hip hop shit. And kendrick just pulled an "Ali, I'm the greatest" move

  • Response

This dude is ALREADY responding to "Control"

  • Not Impressed

I've said it before and i'll say it again, Kendrick Lamar is an average rapper. Is he the best new rapper out right now? Probably, but that doesn't mean he's dope. It just means hiphop right now sucks. Almost every rapper he name dropped is garbage, he has no competition. This is why he couldn't blow up in the 2000s, there were too many rappers out who were better then him. Go and watch that video with him rapping with Charles Hamilton. Charles was fucking RAPING HIM, rhyming off the top of his head. These days people like that aren't around, so Kendrick was able to enter the game and be the best in an ERA OF SHITTY RAPPERS. Just listen to the song, his lyrics are average. People like it because of the length, his delivery, and the name dropping, but if you read the lyrics on paper, it's not all that. To me, Jay Electronica's verse was far superior. But because people think he's "old" and he has no gimmicks, people don't want to give him any credit. Like Masta Killa said, 'The dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum' and that's real shit. I'm not impressed

    • eat it

That's why jay electronica killed him on this song. And he doesn't even have an official album. His verse on here will not be easy to understand to the average kendrick stan.

    • You'e an idiot

You honestly sound like the quintessential hater, spewing unfounded hate from your hate-filled pulpit. I have never seen said "cypher", but I'll take your word for it. I don't think there's a rapper who is undefeated in battles. Just because someone can win in cyphers doesn't make them a dope emcee...see Juice, the emcee not the movie. Slaughterhouse albums/mixtapes have been just alright, but we know all those dudes can spit at least as well as Kendrick, yet Kendrick's albums and mixtapes sound way better.

    • you're an idiot (reply)

The "mainstream comment" was meant for the guy above you. I have to disagree with you and say that kendrick's verse was mediocre and that jay electronicas verse was way better. Really break down what kendrick is saying and its not any new that I haven't heard in a freestyle or battle.

    • Not Impressed

I don't give a fuck who likes him, you people are drones and follow everything you read on the internet. I never said only 90's rappers can be dope. As i mentioned, Charles Hamilton was rapping in a cypher with Kendrick a couple of years ago and he murdered him. Willie The Kid is better then Kendrick, Jay Electronica is better then Kendrick, there are a lot of new, none 80s/90s rappers I respect, who are way better then this dude. I'm just not impressed by these rappers the internet tries to shove down our throats.

    • You're an idiot

      Sorry, forgot the "r"

    • You'e an idiot

You're assuming that I only listen to mainstream rap. Idiot. Some of my fav. records this year include Czarface and Uptown X.O.'s joint. I listen to hiphop, there's good hip-hop to be found in the mainstream and the underground. There's no way on earth that verse is mediocre. As for albums, like the guy below me said, including mixtapes Kendrick has 4 projects which are all solid. It's Ok to laud Biggie and Big Pun, but not Kendrick? Kendrick has a least as much material as both of them.

    • This nigga above me is on kennys nuts

Yeah, but jay-z's got the albums and battles behind him and really doesn't have to prove himself anymore. Kendrick spit a mediocre verse and were supposed to get excited!? If you want to hear dope verses and whole albums worth stop listening to pop corporate rap.

    • You're an idiot

Tonnes of vets who can spit acknowledged how good Kendrick's verse was. These same vets like Royce repeatedly acknowledge how good Kendrick is. You're probably one of those delusional heads who think only the people from the late 80's and 90's can spit. Guess what? Kendrick could probably spit with Biggie, Big L, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, Kool G Rap etc. Get over yourself, moron. There are a lot of legends from Golden Era who you probably dick ride who couldn't rap with Kendrick like Q-Tip or Pos from De La Soul. Just because they dropped classic don't mean they are dope emcees.

    • This nigga above me is a hater

This verse is greater than anything on Jay-Z's new album, so what does that make jigga, mediocre? Shut the hell up.

  • hiphop

  • Gucci Mane Special Forces

- JA-RULE IS THE BIGGEST CLOWN IN HIPHOP WITH TOTALLY NO STREETCREDIBILITY! Be in jail for smoking weed, carrying a gun or tax evasion is for pussies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Yo Kendrick its time to come out of the closet faggot. You like dicks!

Jay electronica definitely the King of the East Coast and New Orleans. Illest verse.

  • Jon

Kendrick's "King of New York" line is actually from Kurupt. I'm important like the Pope, I'm the king of New York I'm live from South Central, I'm a Muslim on pork - Kurupt on Get Bizy

  • Lucky Nine

Anyone else think Jay Electronica had the best verse?

    • Not Impressed

Definitely, I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. Long verses, shouting and gimmicks don't make the verse, Jay has more technical skill then Kendrick. His rhymes are deeper and more poetic. Jay Electronica is a true lyricist and he's easily better then all the rappers out right now.

    • Humz

I liked it quite a lot. I think it's overlooked mostly cuz it's after kendrick's (people will probably keep rewinding once that verse ends) and it's the shortest verse.

  • Hahaha

Kendrick just dissed Nas and Jay-Z but you ain't even know it... hahahah aftermath stay winning...Eminem, Dr Dre bitches....waaaaa

  • drop knowledge

Dam, that Jay Electronica verse was FIRE!!!! I think it was better than kendrick's. Kendricks verse was really elementary and easy to follow about him being the the best and wanting everyone to compete with him. Jay said so much more with fewer words and it was deep, and will go over a lot of peoples heads.

And he's using waynes tactics by naming himself the best.

  • Drizzy!

People act like Kendrick is new. He has two dope mixtapes and section 8.0 and GKMC. All 4 of his releases thus far have been stellar. Quality is more important than quantity. People have enough material from him to start forming opinions about where he ranks. If Biggie or Big Pun's names can come up on an all-time greats list so can Kendrick. It ain't like their sample sizes are any larger.

He really didn't acheive anything, everyone he mentioned are his boys. They going to praise him for his comments but at the end of the day all he did was spit a descent verse. If you want to hear more stop listening to pop rap.

  • The problem

Fools like blacks niggas don't listen all thy want to her is that simple lengthy verse with out facts or proof. Jay E. got that song but you know niggas don't have the patient to listen all they no is gun shot and baseless noise.

  • Blacks are lame

Just a verse and you Youngins and fucked up Fools are calling him goat. The game was about to do thesame thing but had no sense of approach, now with some tactics for lame niggas you fools are going all wild.. A greater rapper once said in Kens verse that( I wait) and that's what you fools need to do. Wait for more albums from him before saying shit.

  • DaMilkman

Honestly... it wasn't much of a diss, more so friendly fire cos a diss wouldn't have "I got love 4 u.." 2 start it off. secondly r ppl really tryina overlook the poetry that Jay Elec dropped after??... Kendrick MURDERED it don't get me wrong but lyrically it was his last 8 bars that was off the chain on some Eminem type sh!t but 4 me "Jay Electricity" BODIED it in 16 bars. just listen please 4 the sake poetry lol. Also it osund like Sean took a few shots @ K.Dot 4 sure..he must re-wrote his verse haha

  • Generic Comment

    Great job kenny!

  • Game Change

Got damnit this nigga just did it. He pulled his dick out a laid it on the table. lol.

  • T-wiLLz

All I gotta say is that hopefully this triggers something raw to happen in the game, where all the new era rappers will actually TRY and write something dope, whether mentioning or dissing k dot, with what's hopefully its a hot verse. This week can be either one of the dopest weeks of hiphop or just another ordinary weak ass week

    • yawn

People will forget when next weeks releases come out and gucci or drake is back on top. Their is alot of dope hip hop always being released that takes some looking to find. Its silly that one verse would get someone all excited about hip hop when you can find a ton of dope albums that artist make from the heart and not from just wanting a big corporate pay check.

  • T-wiLLz

Fuckin right, rap is getting to the point where the only way you can get a "good song" is by having other people on it, its going away from competition and becoming "team work", and the thing about team work is that everyone becomes lazy and half asses everything they write down/spit cus they know its gonna be a hit if they have people like wiz khalifa and k dot on the song too. That's the only reason why groups like hustle gang and MMG are still here, reason why people even try to mention french Montana as "good"... Reason why DJ Khalid's fat ass gets "his" music to sell, too many people are wanting to listen to songs only because of the line ups. There's nothing wrong with getting a couple artists together on a track and try n see who spits the hardest, its a problem when all of the artists on the track only spit a couple words cus they know people will buy/listen to it. Last song with a group of artists on it that I liked was 1 train, that was sorta decent, but last song to impress me was forever cus all of them on that track actually tried to kill it while sticking to their own style.

  • Trap Lord

he moved up the ladder...he might even be Top 5 Dead or Alive right about now bruh

  • Pat

With this verse Kendrick Just took the Fucking Hip-Hop Throne

    • black angel

True, how can you be the best when most of the rappers he mentioned are c+ at best. He should going at underground rappers like r.a. the rugged man, black thought, ill bill and celph titled.

    • the throne

was the throne empty before this or did he take it from someone else?

  • NYCDaFuture

HipHop really needs this.. also every1 follow me on n listen to

  • NYCDaFuture

1st im from NY Jamaica Queenz.. Kendrick Killed it.. and Hiphop needed this.. to much friendly bs.. new era soft... 2nd.. I wish Hov n the big rappers from NY would respond like Jada, Fab, Cam, etc but i know they wont.. Well let me stop Jada n cam would cuz they got heart n not to hollywood for lyrical war.. Idk bout fab anymore but i know for a fact nuggas like Hov think he above hiphop to respond n this comin from a big Hov fan.. 3rd I cant wait to see Joe budden respond n kill it, hopefully Cassidy n other lyricists go in like Papoose etc.. 4th This is not beef but competition on the mic.. Every1 who is scared n dont have the skillz on the mic to compete will just complain on twitter n brush it off in interviews.. 5th this week we will see who are real MC's or not.. PPL like Drake, Jcole,Pusha T.. We will see if yall have heart to respond or not.. DO it for Hiphop Brehs

  • sgswgr

that verse was too cold but damn it's gunna be a curse too. This nigga one of the most popular artists out right now and once all these kids hear this shit stanning of KDot is gunna be taken to a whole other level. Niggas on youtube already claiming KDot the GOAT cuz of the verse

    • sdffes

WAY too early to put him near the top 10 but he's on his way, we'll see if he's still dope 5 albums into his career. Niggas going crazy over this verse cuz its rare to hear a popular artist spit something so ill, but that just shows how fucked up the game is right now. Don't be forgetting about Black Thought's verse on Bird's Eye View...

    • goat
