DJ Khaled has proposed to Nicki Minaj in a new video. The producer took a moment to explain his love for Minaj before showing off a ring he says he bought for her, a ring said to cost $500,000.
“I want to be honest with you," DJ Khaled says in the MTV News video. "I love you. I like you. I want you to be mine. The only reason I'm not telling you this face to face is because I know that you're busy."
Khaled continues by saying that he wants her to know how serious he is.
"You need a man like me in your life that's gonna take care of you and respect you. You gotta take your time and think about it, I understand," he says. "But I know I have to be here today to let you know how serious I am and about how serious this is to me. I want to let your fans know, my fans know, my family, your family, that I wanna marry you."
Khaled then shows the ring he purchased. According to MTV News, this was a 10 karat diamond ring valued at approximately $500,000. Reports claim he purchased the ring from Rafaello & Co. in Manhattan, New York. The video can be seen below.
DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj are label mates at YMCMB. They've collaborated on wax, most notably on "Take it to the Head." There have been no rumors linking Minaj and Khaled in any romantic manner in the past. There has been no official word on why this clip was made and released other than what Khaled says in the video.
"When I was coming up, I didn’t know that when you win, you gotta deal with a lot of this unnecessary bullshit a lot. So my album sound is going to… You’re going to hear different types of anthems: the suffering side, and the success side.”
Nicki Minaj has not responded to the proposal as of yet.
