With over a dozen projects as a member of Atmosphere and numerous other projects, Rhymesayers emcee Slug is always cooking something up.

In an interview with HipHopSite.com, Slug spoke about two collaborations in particular—one real, and one imagined.

“I just recorded a song with Diamond D,” revealed Slug. “I met him at SoundSet. I don’t know if it’s gonna make his project or not. We’ll see if he likes it enough. He sent me a beat, and I got to rap on it. That was kinda exciting to me. It’s got nothing to do with Rhymesayers, but that’s something I’ll talk about.”

“And then maybe, if I talk about in interviews enough, it’ll actually pressure him enough to use the song,” he added.

The Minneapolis, Minnesota emcee continued to speak on working with the Diggin’ in the Crates Crew producer/emcee. “The beat to me was like… the drums were crisp and sharp, but they were still break-orientated. The synth stuff he did was great. I don’t know if it was a xylophone sound, but there was a sound he always used to use… and it was in the song, and immediately I was like, ‘Cool,’ because it reminds me of 1988 or 1989 Diamond D. That was tight.”

Another collaboration that was brought up in the interview was a hypothetical project with producer Alchemist.

“Alchemist is too fuckin’ hot right now. He wouldn’t fuck with us. He’s like on top of the world,” joked Slug. “You hear me, Alc? I know that you’re too hot for us. That’s cool. We’ll wait until people don’t like you again, and then we’ll make a record with you. For cheap.”

Later in the interview, Slug retracted his joke. “I didn’t mean to say there was a time when people didn’t like you, Alc. I apologize. That came out wrong. What I meant to say is, when I’m rich, we’re gonna make a project. And we’re gonna call it Lake Minnetonka. …Just me and Alc, it’s gonna be called The Purified Waters of Lake Minnetonka, it’s gonna be on purple vinyl, and purple MP3s. Run with that shit. Put that shit on Wiki. Tweet Alc, and tell him that we’re making a record.
