Since the release of the Harmony Korine-directed film, Spring Breakers, Houston rapper RiFF RaFF has remained vocal in his belief that he was the inspiration behind the movie’s main character, Alien, and he will soon take his issue with the film’s creators to court.

According to TMZ, the “Mr. Popular” rapper is suing those behind the movie for a sum of $8 to $10 million. He also stated that his issue wasn’t with Spring Breakers star James Franco, but with the fact that he has yet to be compensated.

“I haven’t been compensated for the Spring Breakers…We’re seeking eight to 10 million right now…There’s a lump sum that’s made per movie. You know, James Franco’s cool. He drop four, five movies a year. He has the money. It’s not about him. You know what I mean? I just need my money,” said RiFF RaFF.

RiFF RaFF also offered up a sort of analogy as he compared not being compensated for the film to someone using his property for financial gain and not sharing any of the profits.

“It’s like if I have a front yard. And you’re planting soil and you’re planting trees and building peaches and houses and selling parking lots on my property then I deserve to be compensated for some portion of that money,” he explained.

Last year, RiFF RaFF revealed that director Harmony Korine approached him about being in the film and when he couldn’t fit the role into his schedule, Korine reportedly turned to actor James Franco.

“The role I would have played would be like a drug dealer, or the friend of a drug dealer, Gucci Mane, James Franco was in the movie, but I was supposed to be in there also,” the rapper revealed to Fuse last year. “Now James Franco is playing me.”

Despite the alleged lawsuit, RiFF RaFF went on to refer to Spring Breakers as a “great movie” and expressed his excitement for a sequel.
