J. Cole recently acknowledged a slight case of obsessive compulsive disorder. The emcee spoke with The Rickey Smiley Show about this and he also took a moment to confirm the much-discussed, highly anticipated collaborative disc with Kendrick Lamar.
“Whenever we get a chance to get in a studio together, we’re gonna knock that out,” he said of his album with K. Dot. “When we get together, I feel like he’s my cousin. You have that cousin that you love when he come to the house because all you do is play video games and play ball? Y’all got the same interests? That’s how it is when we link up.”
Regarding the slight OCD, J. Cole said it’s hard to explain.
“I’m OCD, a little bit,” he acknowledged. “When I’m riding down a road, you’ll see my head moving because in my mind, I’m going around the poles. I have to go around every pole. I can’t describe it to y’all. It’s crazy.”
The interview can be seen below.
J. Cole’s Born Sinner is released tomorrow (June 18). The album features a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar. Recently, Cole said it was a difficult album to get through because of “negative thoughts” that he had while making it. Much of the recent talk surrounding the project has dealt with the album’s release date coinciding with Kanye West’s Yeezus.
