With the shared June 18 release date impending, this week’s top singles chart is dominated by music we’ll get to hear more of on Tuesday. Nonetheless, still without a firm release date in place, ScHoolboy Q’s latest Oxymoron cut “Collard Greens” topped off our top ten followed closely by J. Cole holding down both the second and third spots with Born Sinner tracks “Let Nas Down” and the 50 Cent featuring bonus cut “New York Times.” The rest of the list is rounded out by more Cole, glimpses at Kanye’s Yeezus and tracks by Wale, Joey Bada$$ and more.

Kendrick Lamar Assists ScHoolboy Q With A Second Single From Oxymoron

Earlier this year, ScHoolboy’s first Oxymoron single dropped in the form of “Yay Yay,” several months and plenty of chatter later, the TDE artist has enlisted labelmate and Black Hippy member Kendrick Lamar for the second single to his major label debut. “Collard Greens” finds the California emcees spitting in-your-face verses about their new-found luxury and favorite vices.

Kendrick’s middle verse features a vulgar Spanish rapped section obviously aimed at the opposite sex while Q stays in the tough-talk, party Rap lane for the third verse: “Bummy nigga famous, straight from the bottom / Broke niggas hate it, still never robbed’em / Guns in the basement, out they have a problem / Kush be my fragrance, we love marijuana / Function on fire, burn the roof off this motherfucker / Psych ward is ballin’.”

J. Cole Scores With “Let Nas Down” & “New York Times”

After holding down the top spot last week with the TLC-featuring “Crooked Smile,” Cole fans got an even bigger glimpse at Born Sinner with two more album drops this week. Cole explained at his album listening session that “Let Nas Down” is a product of his idol’s disappointment in the rapper’s Cole World single “Work Out.” With “Let Nas Down” and other Born Sinner tracks, Cole is obviously walking a careful line of producing a mainstream appropriate single without sacrificing his own sound, a criticism rightfully leveraged after the release of “Work Out,” which was released exactly two years ago today (June 15).

Fans also got a chance to hear a Born Sinner bonus cut this week in the form of “New York Times” which features Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ rapper 50 Cent and Cole’s own artist Bas. Cole raps about finding success in his own city of dreams but injects a good deal of political criticism at the same time: “Wall Street got Black slave blood stains / Which means we built this city / And never got scraps while the devil got fat / In fact, reparation for niggas in desperation / Fuck money, get my kid a real education / Blood money spills, had a real revelation / Southside make you realize there’s still segregation / Don’t wanna preach I’m just thinking out loud.”

With his third album slated to be released a week after Born Sinner, Yeezus and Watching Movies With The Sound Off, this week Wale released a smoke-heavy single with “Rotation.” Featuring 2 Chainz, who had a tough few days in California himself this week, and Wiz Khalifa, “Rotation” checks off another successful single for Wale’s Gifted.
