The 1998 Grammy Awards will always be fondly remembered by Hip Hop fans as the night The Wu-Tang Clan’s Ol’ Dirty Bastard took the stage, protesting the Wu’s loss to Puff Daddy for the “Best Rap Album” Award.

It turns out that taking to the stage and giving his famous “Wu-Tang is for the children” speech may not have even been Dirt McGirt’s idea.

In an interview with Forbez DVD, Sticky Fingaz of Onyx said he discussed the idea of “taking over” the Grammy stage with Dirt Dog immediately before the Grammy Awards.

“I’m like, ‘Yo, I’m going to go shut this shit down,'” said Sticky in his conversation with Ason Unique. “I ain’t even have tickets to the Grammys! …We just walked through security, talking to each other like we supposed to be here… I said, ‘Yo, I’m about to go shut this shit down, basically go onstage and promote the motherfuckin’ album!'”

“I told the nigga my plan, he’s like, alright!” continued Sticky. “Along the way, I stopped to talk about a mothafuckin’ bitch. …I walk into the auditorium, open the door, and who the fuck do I see onstage? ODB. I’m like, ‘This mothafucka stole my shit and did it without me?'”

Sticky Fingaz added that there were no hard feelings towards Osirus.
