Shyne is getting into the fashion game. He’s launching the Gangland clothing line, a partnership with U.A.O.P Ruprai, an emerging clothing designer who has also created custom pieces for Grammy Award-winning musician Pharrell Williams.
“The Gangland brand is something we want to build, from music to clothing,” Shyne says in a press release. “I’m from Brooklyn, and the streets have influenced a lot of trends in the fashion industry, and I want to mix street wear with high fashion.”
The Gangland clothing line features sweaters, shirts, hats and accessories and is available in select boutiques, and online at Shyne’s website. The clothing line has the same name as Shyne’s recent mixtape, a project that features Pusha T and World Kin Folk. It also has production by RZA, Young Lord, Odds and Ends, Omega, David DA Beats, Danja, Pheonix, Hebrew Hustle, The Olympicks, Kojak, J Kits, Arthur McArthur and Rich Skills.
The Brooklyn lyricist was expected to release a proper album under the Def Jam imprint and his Facebook page says that two records are slated to drop, Messiah and Gangland, but those projects both initially had 2010 release dates.
The former Bad Boy artist spent nearly a decade in prison after being convicted for his role in a 1999 nightclub shooting in New York.
