Nearly two years after turning himself in to authorities to begin his prison sentence, it seems that Queens rapper Ja Rule is now a free man. News of Ja Rule’s reported release came with a Tweet, which fellow emcee N.O.R.E. sent a little after 6 A.M. today (May 7).

In his Tweet, N.O.R.E. revealed that he had spoken to Ja Rule and asked his followers to offer up a “welcome home” to the newly freed rapper.

Aside from N.O.R.E.’s early morning Twitter update, Ja Rule’s release from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center has yet to be confirmed.

Over the past few months, Ja Rule has been hit with a number of release dates since beginning his prison sentence in June 2011. In fact, it was just weeks ago when it was reported that the rapper wouldn’t be released until July 28 of this year.

The noted Queens emcee was sentenced to two years in prison in early 2011 due to a 2007 incident that resulted in a weapons possession charge.
