Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 4/21/2013

Kid Cudi grabs a Top 3 with "Indicud," Ghostface does nearly 100 spots better than his last LP, and Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y, Andy Mineo, Styles P & Scram Jones and N.O.R.E. all shake up the sales charts.

This was seemingly the busiest week for Hip Hop fans on the charts in 2013. Six new releases cracked the Top 200, including a #2.

Kid Cudi's Indicud sold an impressive 136,000 units for the Cleveland, Ohio native. This marks his first album since recently departing G.O.O.D. Music. Also putting numbers on the boards is Syracuse, New York emcee Andy Mineo. The Reach Records artist very nearly cracked the Top 10 with his studio debut, Heroes For Sale. Not far behind was Ghostface Killah's tenth album, Twelve Reasons To Die, produced entirely and co-billed with Adrian Younge. The effort marks a return to a RZA/Ghostface label combo, as this is Tony's first release with Soul Temple Records, a call-back to his year's with RZA's then-imprint Razor Sharp.

Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y sold 13,000 digital units of their first retail collaboration, Live In Concert. The EP was released on Saturday (4/20), and achieved that commercial success in less than 48 hours before the week's units tallied.

Lastly, two '90s New York veterans hit the Top 200. N.O.R.E. (now recording as P.A.P.I.) released Student Of The Game, his first LP with eOne Entertainment. The Queens O.G.'s album sold over 4,000 copies, hitting the charts. This is N.O.'s first charting solo LP on an indie label since his Penalty Records days, in the late 1990s. Following was Styles P, who partnered with veteran producer Scram Jones to release Float. The collaboration LP was Styles' first with Brooklyn, New York-based Nature Sounds Records. That effort sold just under 4,000 copies in its first week at retail.

Kid Cudi Holds His Own With Indicud

Kid Cudi's third solo album, Indicud, served as a benchmark for the five-year star. The album featured no involvement from early mentor Kanye West, and derailed from the Man On The Moon series, though it did tap into certain songs and themes from the emcee/singers first and second solo LPs. Selling 136,000 units, Indicud was just under 20,000 units behind Fall Out Boy's Save Rock & Roll for the #1 spot. While it was behind Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager sales, this effort first week sales surpassed those of Cudi's 2009 debut, as well as his WZRD album with Dot Da Genius.

Indicud boasts Cudi's full production, as well as the Ohio native serving as his own executive producers. Guests range from veterans such as Too Short and RZA, to digital age contemporaries A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar.

Ghostface Killah & Adrian Younge Give You Twelve Reasons To Buy

After a lengthy tenure at Def Jam Records, Staten Island, New York super-emcee Ghostface Killah linked back up with RZA, via The Abbott's Soul Temple Records. There, G.F.K. partnered with Los Angeles, California-based Black Dynamite soundtrack producer Adrian Younge to make an album birthed in '70s cinematic sounds and themes. Twelve Reasons To Die resulted, with RZA watching over, and paying homage to drive-in's and grind-houses and spaghetti westerns, with Tony Starks' tenth LP.

The album, backed by Sony Red, sold 13,000 units in its first week. At #27, this is a considerably higher chart debut than Ghost's Def Jam finale, Apollo Kids, which surfaced at #120. The guests on the LP were strictly Wu affiliates, ranging from Masta Killa, U-God and Inspectah Deck, to Killarmy's Killa Sin and longtime Ghost assister, Cappadonna.

"hes doing better than most of the rappers who have major deals and hes making more money than them too without having to share with the suits at the label" Last time I checked he wasn't shopping for a $75 million dollar deal like T.I., or worth $20 million like Ross is. The major label structure has already been proven to work for many others. Face it. Vanilla Ice Jr. is scared he might not be able to hack it in the big leagues. That's where the MEN play.

    • @Quote-man

There's millions of artists who sign major label deals and they never sell records like Wayne or Eminem and make money like Jay-Z or Kanye; hell, many of them never see their single or album released ever and they get shelved. The major label structure DOES NOT work for many others, just a few minority, I don't know where you get that bullshit from. There is no Vanilla Ice Jr., dumbass. Macklemore is not scared of anything because he's very successful; #1 platinum hits, gold album, and making a lot of money while independent, so why would he go to a major label where he would not see a penny from them? That's stupid; THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK, LITTLE MAN. Also, he's already in the big leagues.

    • Anonymous

I SAID MOST, T.I. and Ross are not most rappers, they are exceptions and just because T.I. is shopping a 75 million dollar deal dont mean hes ever gonna get one. No way in hell any label would ever recoup that.

  • PIZZ

    Damn Tyga, you went Plywood!

  • LIGER

YO! Since Tyga went WOOD, can we now call him "Tyga Woods??"

  • Anonymous

"They got other businesses. It doesn't always work for everyone" They wouldn't have had those other endeavors if they hadn't of sold millions first. Face it... Macklemore is scared to sign to a major cause he knows he would flop.

    • bizzalls

Why in the hell would Macklemore sign to a major?? EVERYBODY already knows who the fuck he is! It's 8 months later after his release and he's still selling 30 thousand copies a week! He's independent yet, he somehow was able to perform at the MTV Movie Awards. HOW?? How does he have TWO platinum singles off the album? NOBODY else that's independent does that. So all the money he's making now, it would dumb as hell to sign to a major! If he keeps up what he's doing, he's gonna make history. Shit, he already is making history...

    • Anonymous

why would he sign to a major if he doesnt need one hes doing better than most of the rappers who have major deals and hes making more money than them too without having to share with the suits at the label

"Quoteman is reminiscing about Elvis" Hardly half a man. I was merely crushing you with my latest winning point. Fight back kid. Nobody likes a blowout.

"Although whites listen to Florida and Pitbull, they won't cop the album" Because they know the albums probably suck. This notion that white people like white hip hop artists just because they're white is hilariously wrong. Is it possible they just like the music, and the fact Mac Miller or Mackelmore are white makes no difference. Alot of people hate what hip hop became long ago. Finally, they're hearing artists who are different. I'm not a fan of Macklemore or Miller, but they're relating to people because they aren't doing the same things 99-100 other rappers are doing.

  • Anonymous

"no one acting like macklemore is Elvis" I didn't mean literally, retard. After Em dropped, people treated him like Elvis in the sense here was this perceived outsider shaking up the establishment, I.E. The hip hop world. Macklemore clearly isn't on Em's level, but he still has a 5x platinum single, and an album outselling most everybody. That's Elvis like.

Macklemore IS making millions without having to sell millions because he is independent! Sounds smart to me!

most of these cats just rapping about how rich they are and how poor we are. fuck giving them my 10 bucks. they clearly dont need it.

You mother fuckers don't know shit about the music business... Beat it. If the artist doesn't sell the label doesn't get a return on their investment and the artists gets dropped or shelved... So your bum ass stealing albums that only cost $10 is killing Hip Hop. This is the only genre of music were the fans are bum ass blood sucking leaches! SMFH!

    • Anonymous

buddens sold his soul and only managed to sell 60k total, 30k first week. best believe ghostface will be selling more than that

    ghost made 15k?! not bad!

    • STREEZY

But definitely not good either!! I thought Ghostface sells at least 50k each time he drops an album. 15k is NOT good for him. How does Joe Budden sell twice as much as him?? Ghost is WAY more established and has a much higher status than Sew Buttons.

Kanye: "I told Wayne tohis face, he's the dopest MC out" Eminem: "Wayne, to me, is defiinitely one of the greatest in the game" Jay-Z: "Wayne is one of the most talented rappers out there" 2Pac: " Wayne is dope" So should I listen to Kanye, Eminem, Jay-Z and 2Pac or should I listen to some broke losers on the Internet? I like how all of the people who hate Lil wayne come to and search for his videos to talk shit about them. Lil Wayne may not act like it but he is capable of making good music LONG LIVE WEEZY!

    • Nigga is u crazy?

Nigga Pac died before Wayne was even heard of. Knock that bullshit off. Em, Kanye, and Jay-Z were just being humble when they all know that Wayne is the definition of wack.

    • POIU

Apparently, you're the same person who keeps leaving comments about YMCA. Dentalfagboy, YESSIR, and everyone else who keeps leaving comments about them is the same person. You ain't foolin anyone. When did 2pac say that? The FUCK?

    • Anonymous

"may not act like it but he is capable of making good music" i like how you just admitted hes been putting out trash

    • -_-

Everything you say, fuckboy, is bullshit.

  • dentaldamboy

You YMCMB haters are fucking idiots. Because I'm an accountant for Cash Money Records, I spend a lot of time with Birdman. He told me that in 96, Biggie was looking to get out of his contract with Bad Boy so he could sign with Cash Money. If Cash Money is right for Biggie, then it's clearly the top record label. Unfortunately, Jay-Z and Diddy found out about Biggie's upcoming departure and had him shot. Also, Birdman as always a role model for 2Pac. Most of you don't know this, but the song Hit Em Up was originally supposed to be Split Em Up, a song where Pac brags about fucking Faith, leading to her breakup with BIG. But Birdman explained to Pac that real gangsta's talking about killing people, so that's how Hit Em Up took on such a violent tone. YMCMB for life. We got the game by the clit..

    • Edmonton Sun!!

LOL, that's the best joke i've heard in a long time.. Keep writing stories like that and you may just get yourself some money off that.... A whole nickel for your useless thoughts.. HAHA

    • dentaldamboy

I would like to make one thing clear. I am not Lil Wayne or Birdman's personal accountant. I am a corporate accountant for Cash Money Records. Cash Money Records is always current on its obligations to the IRS and all state and local tax collection agencies. However, I do know that both Wayne and Birdman are very liquid. Any tax delinquencies on their parts are due to the IRS not accepting certain write-offs that they claim. it is not due to a lack of money to pay their taxes. All of these discrepancies have been quickly resolved. In some instances, it is beneficial for an individual to forfeit properties whose market values are below appraised values to extinguish tax liens.

    • bizzalls

Why doesn't YMCMB just rename themselves to YMCA? Because all of yall are just a bunch of faggots. Lil Wayne wears women's leopard skin tight pants and looks like a woman, and him and Birdman kiss each other in public. Who knows what they do behind closed doors? You ain't a fuckin accountant you silly little faggot! And what's up with Nicki MInaj's fake ass? There are CLEARLY pics of her before and after of her ass. Her ass used to be flat! Just Google it! Everyone Google it! Fake ass bitch...

    • HAHA

You are a fucking MORON. Then why the fuck is your name Dentalboy or whatever the fuck it is, if you're an accountant?? Stupid fuck. Spreading lies about Jay Z and Diddy getting Biggie Killed. I wish we could all track your bitch ass down and beat the shit outta you! You fuckin clown ass bitch!

    • GHETTO

      Everythign you say is bullshit.

  • YESSIR

YES, I REALLY HAVE GONE TO LIL WAYNE'S HOUSE! WHEN I GOT THERE HE WAS IN BED WITH WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A GIRL. IT WAS ACTUALLY A DUDE WHO HAD DREADS LIKE WAYNE. I YELLED AT WAYNE LIKE, "WTF ARE YOU DOING, WAYNE?" HE SAID, "NAH, WE WERE JUST TAKIN A NAP, WE PASSED OUT AFTER WE DRANK A SHITLOAD OF SYRUP." THEN HE GOES "DONALD, YOU ARE MY JANITOR, THE JANITOR FOR YMCMB, WHY AND HOW DID YOU GET TO MY HOUSE??" THEN I GOT ALL NERVOUS, RAN OUT OF THE HOUSE, GOT ON MY BIKE, AND HAULED ASS BACK TO MY MOM'S HOUSE. SHIT WAS CRAZY! BUT WAYNE'S THE BEST!

  • YESSIR

IM OUT FOR THE NIGHT BITCHES!! MY MOM WILL KICK YOUR ASS IN THE MORNING!!!

    • STREEZY

Hahaha, this dude Yessir is the biggest moron I've ever seen on this site. Talk about a Lil Wayne dickrider! And I never call people dickriders, I hate that fuckin term, but this dude is just delusional. Saying all this shit about Eminem and how he's fallen off, how the fuck has he fallen off you idiot?? Eminem is the fuckin shit! You wanna know why? He stays out of the public eye, doesn't pull publicity stunts, doesn't engage in bullshit like that and STILL sells a fuckload of records everytime he drops an album. You won't hear a peep from him for years then all of a sudden he drops an album and everyone buys it. Isn't Recovery like 4 times Platinum? So what the fuck is this retard Yessir talkin about? Dumb muthafucka!

I work at Interscope and I'm not supposed to do this, but I have some exclusive news for y'all. Dr. Dre was in the studio with Eminem, 50 Cent, and Kendrick Lamar. They just recorded a new song together. I heard it and it was dope. It could be the biggest hip-hop song of all time if it was released. That's all.

  • YESSIR

Where the fuck are all the clowns that be screaming "Wu-Tang forever"? SMH! One of Ghostface Killahs best albums and it only did 15k... SMFH! Hip Hop is DEAD! You bum ass fans never ran a business in your life and don't know shit about the music business. White people always win because they support each other. Minorities have that crab in the bucket mentality!

    • Bizzalls

Remember, this album wasn't on Def Jam. It got like NO promotion or publicity. So, for an independent album, 15k is not bad. Unless we compare it to Macklemore, which I have no idea who these 30 thousand people are that continue to buy his album every week. Where do these people come from???

  • HUH

Who in the FUCK IS ANDY MINEO?!?!

  • wow

Congrats to Kid Cudi, Kendrick, and Macklemore for their success. These talented dudes deserve it. Ghostface did decent #s for someone of his status. Everyone else flopped.

  • Anonymous

Wow! The bum ass fans have finally managed to kill Hip Hop... Niggas will by sneakers made in china and designer cloths from racist designers but will not support their own. If you don't buy music get your bum ass the fuck out of here trying to comment on album sales... Don't say there's no music worth buying if your listening to music everyday. It doesn't even make sense making music for the streets any more. You're better off making Hip-Pop for the white people if you want to be successful... If you make music for minorities they're just going to steal your shit all day and spend they're energy hating on the music they don't steal! SMFH!

  • NICK'S RANT OF THE DAY

I just wanted to formally declare my hatred for hoes on twitter. I cant stand how twitter gives dumb females (and men) a voice. Let me list all of my grievances with Twitter hoes (forgive the language): 1. Thirst/Thirst Traps: Im tired of these chicks on the TL being so thirsty toward celebritiesjust STOP. You arent gonna go out with Chris Brown or Kobe or Justin Timberlake (even worse when they think they are clever by targeting a C-list star). Those men are all taken and nobody wants your lame asses. Seriously, stop posting playful/sexual/naked pictures as if anyone wants you. This goes double and triple for INSTAGRAM. MEN, stop endorsing this shit! 2. Fake Knowledge: Hoes on Twitter all think they know stuff about hip-hop, philosophy, sports, etc. Im tired of this shit. Nobody asked for your dumb ass opinion on how (insert local rapper here) is killing the game or how Dwight should win NBA DPOY. It wouldnt be so bad if their opinions made any kind of sense. Furthermore, you shouldnt be giving advice on Twitter if you cant navigate how to spell regular words correctly. 3. Casual Racism: Im fucking sick and tired of the casual racism on twitter. Twitter hoes take this to the next level. Since when was it the movement for White/Asian/Spanish girls to use the niggas be like/bitches be like meme from Black twitter to degrade AA females? Furthermore, wtf are #TeamLightskin and #TeamDarkSkin? And must every picture be a crack at Black women? I mean shit 75% of these funny pics are of Black woman doing shit other races of women do but basically being criticized for being unattractive. 4. Lack of creativity: If your twitter name has some kind of bad bitch or baby or barbie/Minaj or queen in it just kill yourself. I hate you and you deserve to be hated. And I swear to God hoes on Twitter killed memes. They destroyed my enjoyment of casual memes by overusing them to nauseating levels. Is it possible for these females to have personalities that arent all cut from the same ratchet clothe. The hoe culture is so congealed you cant distinguish one from the other. Also, stop trying to emulate stars with lifestyles, fame, and money you will never reach (see: Rihanna). In conclusion, I apologize for this rant but I couldnt post it on social media for fear of being chastised. *TLDR*

THAT WAS 13 YEARS AGO. THAT WAS BEFORE ILLEGAL DOWNLOADING ON THE INTERNET WAS RAMPANT. HIS LAST ALBUM I THINK IS ALMOST 4 TIMES PLATINUM, SO I DO NOT KNOW WHY I COULD POSSIBLY SAY HE FELL OFF. Because white people will always buy white people albums. Although whites listen to Florida and Pitbull, they won't cop the album but they are quick to support the Em's, Mac Miller's, and Macklemore's of the world. Whites that make hard hip hop won't get that support tho so they might as well be black.

IM REAL!!! IM STRAIGHT AND GOT LAID BY WOMEN!! ALL YOU FAKE CLOWNS GET OUT

    • YESSIR

SORRY, SLIGHT WORD CHANGE!! I MEANT WOMAN!! JUST BECAUSE IM STRAIGHT DOESNT MEAN IM NOT A LIL WAYNE FAN!!

    • YESSIR

I GOT LAID, BUT I FORGOT TO SAY IT WAS BY A MAN. DON'T JUDGE ME THOUGH, LOOK AT FRANK OCEAN, HE'S GAY BUT HE'S STILL SUCCESSFUL. JUST BECAUSE IM GAY DON'T MEAN SHIT.

    • ^

      Stay making up stories.

    • YESSIR

I DID GET LAID!!! BTW, THESE GIRLS ARE HUGE WAYNE FANS!!! I KNOW ITS NOT FOR EVERYONE BUT STOP HATING ON ME FOR STATING MY OPINION!!

    • YESSIR

WAYNE HAS HELPED ME!!! HIS WORDS INSPIRED ME TO GET LAID AND GET PUSSY!!! FRIENDSHIP IS ANOTHER GREAT LESSON!!

    • ^

Then you're a sad individual who needs to get a better taste in music and a life. Wayne don't do shit for you; just for your money.

    • YESSIR

I DONT CARE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK!! IANAHB2 WAS THE BEST ALBUM WAYNE DID FOR ME!! I DONT CARE IF OBAMA NOTICED A LOT OF RAPPERS, WAYNE GOT NOTICED!! I DONT CARE IF WAYNE WORKED WITH OTHER ARTISTS, HE STILl KILLS THEM FOR ME!!

    • Anonymous

Wayne has fallen off. His only good albums are C2 and C3. Everything after C3 is pop garbage. Eminem has worked with a lot of artists and a lot of artists worked with wayne; it's no big deal. Obama has noticed a lot of rappers. INAHB2 is one of Wayne's worst albums; a lot of people agreed on that.

    • YESSIR

WAYNE HAS SOARED TO GREAT HEIGHTS!!! EMINEM WORKED WITH WAYNE AND OBAMAS ALSO NOTICING HIM!!! WAYNES NEVER FALLEN OFF!! IANHB2 WAS WAYNES BEST WORK!!! DONT HATE ME FOR MY OPINION!!

    • Anonymous

You're wrong. Wayne fell off since 2008 and Eminem never fell off.

    • YESSIR

ANOTHER FAKE ASS FUCKER USING MY NAME!!!! EMINEM HAS CLEARLY FALLEN OFF SINCE 2000 WHILE WAYNE SOARED SINCE THEN!!!

  • YESSIR

YOU DONT KNOW THAT EMINEM WILL RELEASE HIS ALBUM THIS YEAR!! BESIDES, YOURE ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR LAST MUSIC RELEASE AND WAYNES LATEST SINGLE WAS IN TOP 10 WHILE SKYLAR GRAY WITH EMINEM CHARTED NOWHERE NEAR TOP 100!! THE MY LIFE SINGLE WITH 50 CENT AND EMINEM ALSO FLOPPED!!! EMINEMS ALBUMS WILL SELL 200K OPENING WEEKEND AT MOST!! YMCMB

    • NOSIR

WRONG, YESSIR. WAYNE IS GETTING WORSE WITH EVERY ALBUM. HE INSPIRED YOU TO BE A LAZY PIECE OF SHIT THAT WON'T GET ANY ASS. EMINEM IS AND WILL FOREVER BE ONE OF THE BEST RAPPERS OF ALL TIME.

    • YESSIR

WAYNES IMPROVING WITH EACH ALBUM IN MY MIND!! HE INSPIRED ME TO SEDUCE LADIES!!! MEANWHILE, THESE FAKE ASS NIGGAS IMPERSONATE ME!! EMINEM IS WACK WACK WACK WACK WACK WACK WACK WACK WACK WACK

    • YESSIR

ACTUALLY "MY LIFE" WAS KIND OF AN ILL TRACK THOUGH. SHIT WAS HARD. LIL WAYNE IS SO AWESOME THOUGH. HIS LYRICS INSPIRE ME TO WANT TO BECOME PRESIDENT ONE DAY, OR A SKATEBOARDER, OR A CRACKHEAD LIKE HIM. HIS LYRICS ARE AMAZING, HIS PUNCHLINES, HOW HE CONSTANTLY TALKS ABOUT SEX....ACTUALLY WAIT, MAYBE YALL ARE RIGHT HE REALLY ISN'T THAT GOOD. LIKE, AT ALL! AND I NEVER UNDERSTOOD THE FEMALE LEOPARD SKIN TIGHT PANTS HE WEARS.

    • 50 Cent

50 Cent will never be over.

    • YESSIR

HOP OFF FIDDYS DICK!! HES OVER

    • Anonymous

My Life charted at #28 on the Hot 100, so it didn't flop.

    • YESSIR

SORRY, I MEANT MY LIFE THE SONG WITH 50 CENT (FAKE ASS NIGGA STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE)

    • YESSIR

WHEN I MEANT "MY LIFE WAS A FLOP" I WAS TALKING ABOUT MY ACTUAL LIFE. I KNOW EMINEM ALWAYS SELLS A SHITLOAD AND ME SAYING DRAKE WILL SELL MORE THAN EMINEM IS JUST STUPID BECAUSE DRAKE'S CAREER IS BARELY STARTING AND EMINEM'S BEEN AROUND SINCE THE 90'S. LET'S SEE IF DRAKE IS STILL GOING PLATINUM 15 YEARS FROM NOW.

    • ^

Dude, stop trolling and making up bullshit lies. Neither Drake or Wayne will outsell Eminem. Em will go multi-platinum again.

    • YESSIR

DRAKES NEW ALBUM WILL BEAT OUT EMINEMS!! HES NEVER FALLEN OFF!! WAYNE WILL ALSO OUTSELL EMINEM!!! EMINEMS NEW ALBUM MAY NOT EVEN GO WOOD!!

    • Anonymous

YOU FUCKING IDIOT. THIS IS EMINEM WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HERE. THIS GUY SOLD MORE ALBUMS THAN ANY RAPPER IN HISTORY, EVERY ALBUM HE PUT OUT EXCEPT INFINITE HAS GONE PLATINUM OR MORE, AND HIS LAST ALBUM IS THE BEST SELLING RAP ALBUM OF THE 10S DECADE SO FAR. HIS NEXT ALBUM WILL DO 500K AT THE LEAST.

    • ^

Everything you say is lies. My Life still charted. Eminem will sell over 800k. Eminem never fell off; Wayne is the one who's falling off.

    • YESSIR

MY LIFE IS A FLOP!!! EMINEM WILL DO 200K AT BEST!!! THE MUSIC INDUSTRY HAS CHANGED SINCE THEN!! EMINEMS BEEN FALLING OFF WHILE WAYNE IS SOARING!!

    • ^

You're a fucking idiot. Everything you say is bullshit. Those aren't even Eminem's singles. That don't mean shit(Also, the My Life single actually peaked at #28, so you're wrong). When Eminem drops his first single and it reaches the Top 10 and his album comes out and do JT numbers its 1st week, you'll be eating your words. This is fucking Eminem we're talking about, whose last album sold 750k 1st week.

  • YESSIR

I READ FROM YAHOO MUSIC CHART WATCH UNDER THE LATEST ALBUMS POST AND I READ SNOOP DOGG WILL SELL LESS THAN 20K FOR HIS REINCARNATED ALBUM!!! WAYNE RULES!!

    • YESSIR

I READ FROM PEREZ HILTON, THAT HE IS ACTUALLY CALLING "ME" A FAG! THAT MEANS I'M REALLY GAY! HOW COULD HE SAY THAT ABOUT ME?! HE ALSO SAID MY LOVE FOR LIL WAYNE IS WHAT IS BLINDING ME FROM THE TRUTH. LOVE IS BLIND, HE SAID. THAT IS WHY I CAN'T SEE THAT LIL WAYNE IS ACTUALLY PRETTY WACK. MAYBE HE'S RIGHT? SORRY FOR BEING SUCH A FOOL, EVERYONE. PEREZ HILTON ALSO COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT I SAID EMINEM WAS A BAD RAPPER. IT IS WIDELY KNOWN THAT EMINEM IS ONE OF THE MOST, OR THE MOST, TALENTED LYRICISTS OF ALL TIME. PEREZ INSINUATED THAT I AM PROBABLY A BLACK PERSON WHO IS MAD THAT A WHITE GUY IS THE BEST RAPPER EVER. BUT WHATEVER! I STILL GOT LOVE FOR YMCA, UH, I MEAN YMCMB!

"Albums sold doesn't mean cash" ahah on a indie it does" Macklemore isn't getting 100% of that. Even Tech Nine has to split half of his indie empire. It's still good money, but they also have to fund everything they do.

  • Anonymous

"You just mad cause he's outselling everyone else except Kendrick. Dont judge him by Thrift SHop, that boy can rap" His album isn't even going to go platinum. Yeah, he has that 1 monster single and another one at #2 on Itunes, but I would be more impressed if Macklemore was doing this on a major.

  • indie vs major

remember an independant makes around 8$ an album sold. a major makes around 1-2$. So you have multiply an indies numbers by about 6-8 times if you want to compare how much their making off this. do the math kids

    • Hip Hop Fan

This is wrong. The whole $8 vs $2 theory is bs because you still have to account for distribution and marketing. Independent doesn't always mean you do everything on your own unless you setup a factory and do everything in house like Tech Nine did, which I doubt Macklemore did. I doubt he is getting $8 per cd but it's probably a lot higher than the typical rapper. Also, artists themselves say no money comes from the actual sale of albums but from shows. The more popular you are the more you can charge. Since Macklemore is very popular I would not be surprised if he is one of the highest payed rappers right now.

    • Anonymous

not about money? easy for you to say

    • Hey Thurnis Hey Hey

This wasn't my point. I mean the amount of sales match the real fan base, this is just a statistic it's not about the money at all at the end

  • cock suckas

kids dont know the diff between indie and major numbers smh

    • indie vs major

remember an independant makes around 8$ an album sold. a major makes around 1-2$. So you have multiply an indies numbers by about 6-8 times if you want to compare how much their making off this.

    • STRAIGHT BALLING

MAN ALL THESE WACK ASS EMCEES DOING SO-CALLED "INDIE NUMBERS"... THESE INDIE RAPPERS WOULD BE LUCKY TO RECOUP THE COSTS OF PRESSING THE RECORD B... AIN'T NOBODY SHIFTING SERIOUS UNITS NO MORE, EITHER INDIE OR MAJOR, BUT SOME OF THESE RAPPERS SELLING RECORDS LIKE A TEENAGE GARAGE BAND... THEY BETTER OFF SELLING RECORDS OUT THE BACK OF THEY TRUNKS AT KFC

    • ^

You're a fucking idiot. Those aren't even his singles. BTW, Cudi didn't flopped; he did better than Tyga's wack ass.

    • REAL TRUTH

LOL wait till EMINEM drops his album. He's gonna do at least triple what Wayne did in h8is first week. Mark my words

    • Hey Thurnis Hey Hey

And also, he will surely surpass Waynes sales when he drops his 8th album this year

    • Hey Thurnis Hey Hey

Eminem holds the fastest selling RAP album record EVER. In fact, he has 2 releases in the top 10 chart of the fastest selling albums of ALL GENRES.

    • YESSIR

I MEAN BIGGEST OPENING WEEK OF 2013 OF COURSE!!! BY THE WAY, BEFOR YOU SAY WIZRD SOLD LESS THAN THIS, THATS NOT A HIPHOP ALBUM!!
