So here is the deal, yesterday on WGCI 107.5 FM they reported that Common has signed a deal with Roc-A-Fella/Interscope. Now for those of you who know your major label relationships, you would know that the Roc is under Def Jam’s umbrella, not Interscope’s.
So here is where things get more interesting. Like every successful artist these days, Kanye West has been given his own imprint (Very Good Music), and it is said to be a joint deal with Roc-A-Fella and Interscope. It looks like those Chicago boys are sticking together.
But wait, it gets better. Earlier yesterday Matt Conaway at hiphopsite addressed the rumor of Common signing to Kanye’s imprint…but not just Common, Pharoahe Monch as well. Talk amongst yourselves…
