Cassidy Says He Used To Help Meek Mill Write Raps

Cassidy reflects on his recent issues with fellow Philadelphian Meek Mill.

Cassidy and Meek Mill ended 2012 with diss tracks after the former dropped "Me, Myself & iPhone" and latter responded with "Repo."

Now, Cassidy says that his on-wax beef with the Maybach Music Group rapper is nothing personal but that their relationship runs deep. Speaking with MTV News, he said that he used to help Mill with his lyrics but that he started acting different when he signed to Maybach Music Group.

"He used to call my phone all the time, always asking me to hear his music. I actually used to help him write his raps and give him information back in the day, but ever since he got his deal, things changed," he said. "He stopped calling me, stopped communicating, stopped doing records together — it's like he was a whole different type of person. I reached out a couple times, I don't know if he was just busy or if he just changed, but it wasn't exactly the same as before he [got a deal].

"I know how it is, because I've been on for over 10 years, so I know how it can be sometimes, especially when you're having your first run and a lot of attention is on you, so I didn't feel no type of way about it," he continued. "That's not the reason this battle thing came about, but at the end of the day, I do feel as though it's not how it used to be before he got on."

Cassidy said that he thought battling would be "good for Hip Hop" by bringing back focus to lyrics and being competitive, but that it doesn't extend beyond wax. "It's not personal beef. I don't wanna see anything happen to him or anybody around him," he said. "I'm just competitive and I take my music seriously. At first I was gonna leave it alone. I thought he wanted to battle me, like he was calling me out, but when I found out he wasn't, I left it alone — until he started tweeting certain things about me and being disrespectful."

he jumped wrong on twitter like pussy and changed up meaning dis weak will mufucka has a puppet master

Meek is average at best. Cassidy is cold right now though...so I gotta hear his response to Meek diss record. All that other shit with the AR-AB nigga is irrelevant. Grown ass lazy ass man begging for money...how loyal is a hungry dog?

"meek is going to be broke because he wastes all him money on strippers and cars" And Twinkies for Ross.

  • rizzo

man meek has nasty bars but sometimes they don't make sense but same thing with cassidy except he's a lot more clever

stop talkin shit... u fell off years ago

  • MGRUPPE.COM

ONLY POSITIVE THING ABOUT THIS SHIT IS: ALL THESE PROFESSIONAL SHITSPITTERS ADMIT THAT ALL THE BLAH BLAH IS ABOUT BUSINESS AKA SELLING BULLSHIT TO FOOLS WHO CARE ABOUT BUYING FAKE BULLSHIT. IF THIS IS "BATTLE" I HOPE SOMEBODY FUCKING DIES.

  • Moe

I wish these niggas would just battle. Im tired of the back and forth shit.

meek mill got a girl booty why fuck his ass hole if it feels like a female's butt niggas might as well fuck the female ass. cass got a man ass though so if u want a female ass then go to meek but if u want a man ass go to cassidy

"everybody went gold back in the 2000's. even yayo" And that's relevant in 2013 how?

    • Anonymous

Everybody didn't go gold back then..Also Yayo went gold since he was attached to an elite artist at the time (50 Cent). Meek and Cassidy are very comparable as far as their debut are concerned. Only thing is Cassidy is a better MC IMO.

    • Anonymous

um.....that was his point. its not relevant now

    • anonymous

this is when cassidy debuted, hasn't done much since

  • Anonymous

"whats the difference? you think meek will have any longevity in the game?" Dude, you're fucking retarded and your points studder. I already said longevity don't mean a fucking thing. With the way hip hop is set up now, an artist can make his money and get out without having to worry about having a 20 year career. Ask Drake if he plans on being here 20 years from now.

"now these guys are not thinking big trying to charge PPV money" I was talking about the promoters and/or the rappers themselves. They're getting geeked up over the thought of 100,000 when Oscar De La Hoya used to lose fights but walk away with 40 million thanks to Pay Per View. Glad I could school your dumb ass once again.

"Some people actually enjoy the art and would watch Cassidy and Meek battle. Webster Hall is the venue, Smack or URL can organize, Ciroc or Hennessey can sponsor" Think bigger. Pay Per View. Slight problem. Not enough people would pay $50.00 bucks to see it.

    • Anonymous

Dude you're on the Ar-Ab article saying the people are freeloaders and will flock to free downloads but now these guys are not thinking big trying to charge PPV money to these same "freeloaders" and in the same sentence say: "Not enough people would pay $50.00 bucks to see it" No wonder you get so much flack in here daily.

"LOADED LUX" As a matter of fact I do know. Dude is garbage, and not a headliner in any sense of the word.

  • Anonymous

"cassidy got a gold album thats more than meek mill can say" Meek is making more money without a platinum or gold album than Cassidy did when he did go platinum lol

    • 617

but heres where your wrong meek was the one dissing cass to begin.

    • Anonymous

and 10 years from now meek is going to be in cassidy's position, dissing some new kid whos hot and fighting just to stay relevant anyway he can

    • Anonymous

the difference is cassidy wouldnt move 100k if he dropped an album today. everybody went gold back in the 2000's. even yayo

    • Anonymous

meek is hot right now, so what cassidy was hot back then whats the difference? you think meek will have any longevity in the game? people are tired of his yelling ass already

  • KenzoKing19134

Anybody from Philly already knew this. Cass don't even live here anymore and Meek does. Plain and Simple this is Meeks city for the time being til he washes up and another young gunner comes on. And Cassidy aint never write any Meek raps because Meek don't even write his own raps he freestyles everything which is why his songs usually sound the same. SMH. Cass just wants attention but he don't want beef.

  • Anonymous

"And what u mean not enough star power? you say that like nobody knows who they are!" Cass's last album did 5200 first week. He doesn't even have a record deal now. That's not headliner, top of the marque, star power stuff.

    • Anonymous

10 years. I give him two. He's done after his next album flops. On the real though. Those shots Meek through at Cass was on some real shit. Tried to tell you dudes Cass lost. Can't even show his face. Now he screaming peace.

    • @above me

Take Over "You most likely don't know who LOADED LUX is because he's not on the charts" why capitalize his name, and say as if the person reading it is not capable of knowing who he is. And really who gives a shit who he is. Jay Diddy Busta, all could have spent the day knitting, your going to tell me we all have to knit now, because they did it.

    • Anonymous

@ Take Over How old are YOU to not know quoting/unquoting a WORD means so-called? Second, acting like Lux is a savior? An example showing that industry rappers watch battle rappers means I'm anointing a savior? "plus the art of battleing is overated cuz its all talk no action, pretty much means you can live a certain lifestyle with your words but really have no truth about it" ^ Ross isn't a battle rapper, what's his excuse? He's an entertainer? Well, I showed you an EXAMPLE of rappers being ENTERTAINED by battle rap. Think it all the way through with knowledge and not emotions next time.

    • Anonymous

these guys are rappers, they not real gangsters, they write rhymes for a living, they dont get paid to talk tough or shoot guns if meek cant battle he should shut the fuck up,

    • Take Over

What The Fuck(had to spell it out) how old r u kid "owner of the NEts" Jay is one of my fav MC's but nigga does not even come close to "Owner Of The Nets" more like 1 or 2%. Maybe not even that... Your whole comment got washed with that statement. Plus who gives a fuck who jay, Diddy, and Busta like. And acting like Loaded Lux is the savior of hip hop is ridiculous, plus the art of battleing is overated cuz its all talk no action, pretty much means you can live a certain lifestyle with your words but really have no truth about it.

    • Anonymous

      real talk, anon3

    • Anonymous

A subtle admission that you are a status quo, "who's popular", "what's in", follower. You most likely don't know who LOADED LUX is because he's not on the charts, but he had Diddy and Busta Rhymes live watching him battle. Jay-Z, the epitome of your "star power" vicariousness, TWEETED that he saw Lux. Yes, the "owner" of The Nets, who can't call Robert De Niro back, can watch a rap battle between two rappers who are not: "headliner, top of the marque, star power stuff." Some people actually enjoy the art and would watch Cassidy and Meek battle. Webster Hall is the venue, Smack or URL can organize, Ciroc or Hennessey can sponsor, every rap website and You Tube would prosper. Nothing you said about Cassidy's contract or album sales fits into the equation.

cassidy got a gold album thats more than meek mill can say

  • John Stuart

I bet my life shtr8 up dat Cass would win b

  • Take over

Beef is wack if aint real... how you going to battle someone and be cool. Clowning eachother is like some highschool shit, who cares if u can rhyme and make tight metaphors, if your not going to act on what your saying. Cuz when people battle, they say shit about pulling out guns and blah blah, about how he will kill u, and then shake hands at the end. Thats some lame shit, even both diss tracks were wack, cuz there really is no beef, Meek didnt like condom style, who did, and why get offended. Meek said it would be good for cas and mook to battle, like i said why battle someone when its not even real, save ya metaphors for a song.

  • Anonymous

    lmao meek humiliated

  • Fuck Cassidy & His Family

Anyone with half a brain can see this nigga is on some bullshit. Why the fuck he didn't say this shit before??? Lying ass nigga.

  • cassidy is a coward

Lol.......now this midget wants to make it about rap.

  • Anonymous

still going for CASSIDY....how come Cassidy drops shit the day after he says and meek mill takes like a week to record a track...he has to think real hard about what to say...meek is wack!!!

    • True Story

That's because Cass is thirsty and doesn't have shows, an album to promote, or people seeking collabs from him. I can write a rhyme today too, but who has time to respond to my loser ass?

  • jay

time for cass to drop that round 2 jab really quick

  • Anonymous

Lol at Cass backpedaling. Now it's nothing personal. Guess nobody wants to put up the money for this battle. Not enough starpower I guess.

    • Anonymous

nah, he just taking a different approach, since ar-ab done took away his street cred.

    • logikz

smh but isnt that the easy thing to assume? I mean if you actually been paying attention meek got personal QUICK! And what u mean not enough star power? you say that like nobody knows who they are! like the old saying goes if you aint got nothing good to say then dont say nothing! you sound like just another spoke in the rumor mill...
