Mac Miller is set to star in a six-episode MTV2 reality series about his life.

THR describes the show, scheduled to air in the first quarter of 2013, as “not unlike a real-life version of HBO’s Entourage following the rapper and his three friends, known as the Most Dope Crew. The quartet will pack up from their hometown in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the first time and move to Los Angeles, California.

The Rostrum Records signee will also let the cameras capture the production of his upcoming sophomore album Watching Movies With the Sound Off.

“Yes, I have a show on MTV2,” says Mac of the show, which has an option to be picked up for more episodes if it succeeds. “It’s very cool. Being an independent artist, I think it’s important to find different ways to bring attention to what you are doing. With Watching Movies coming out, I just want to do whatever I can to make sure everybody hears that.

“The show is going to be cool, it’s a little look into my life … well, all the stuff you can show on TV,” he continued. “I have been living in my studio for months working on my album, so the show kind of forced me to get out of that room and go do something entertaining.”
