Drake's October's Very Own Reportedly Signs With Warner Bros. Records

Drake supposedly finds a home for his label.

Drake has reportedly signed his October's Very Own shingle to Warner Bros. Records, writes Billboard.

While a report on HDD appeared earlier today, Billboard confirmed the partnership with an anonymous source. Details are expected to be revealed on Wednesday (Dec. 5th).

Drizzy is currently signed to Universal through Young Money/Cash Money as a solo artist. While he has his own deal, he and his longtime producer Noah "40" Shebib have associated themselves with his October's Very Own shingle.

The first artists signed to OVO will be Lil Kleenex, Young Estrogen, The Bitchmade Niggas, Captain Save-A-Hoe, and R&B upcoming sensation NC-Ker.

Drake is on his way to becoming a major executive in the next 10 years.

"If Drake had his own work ethic, he would rise up and become respected amonst the rap community" He's practically on everybody's albums these days. I'd say that's being respected.

THIS FOOLS A BITCH RAPPER...SINGS AND RAPS FOR BITCHES...DONT LISTEN TO HIS WACK SHIT...DUDE CANT EVEN SING AND HE ACTS LIKE HE CAN...GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THIS SHIT!!!

    • Chris Etrata

A lot of hip hop fans critizicize him for associating himself with ymcmb. If he moved out of YMCMB and actually diss them, they would open up more and he would be more accepted into their hands.

Who is on this label? And what makes you think just because it's Drake's that it will be successful?

  • YouSerious?

October's Very Own sounds like a corny ass indie rock band.

    • YouSerious?

I read hiphopdx articles frequently. I comment randomly on articles I read on the site. The name struck me as funny, so I commented...lol. No need to hop on Drake's nuts and defend his fruity style.

    • stop hating

well, it has you talking and reading about his label, so it must be doing good already.

  • YESSIR

LOL YALL DONT EVEN KNOW HOW THE INDUSTRY WORKS CUS U AINT IN THE BIDNESS LIKE US. DONT YOU THINK AUBREY TRIED TO SIGN HIS CREW TO YMCMB? TRUTH IS IT WAS A MUTUAL DECISION FROM DRAKE BIRDMAN AND WAYNE. ALL OF THEM KNOWS DAMN WELL HIS OVO CREW AINT GOT NO POTENTIAL.THEREFORE, NO FINANCIAL PROFITS.. BUT DRAKE A REAL NIGGA HE SHOWIN LOVE FOR HIS CREW FROM THE START OF HIS CAREER. HE JUST TRYIN TO HELP THEM TO BE ON THEIR OWN..THEY AINT GONNA BE ON HIS DICK AND BEG FOR MONEY OR BEG FOR HIS LAMBO ALL THE TIME...SO DRAKE WORKED OUT HIS JEW CONNECTIONS AND SIGNED THEM TO WARNER..#REALSTORY

    • Anonymous

"DRAKES A REAL NIGGA" GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT DICK RIDIN SHIT!!. U MEAN THE ACTOR FROM CANADA...OH YEAH THATS REAL HOOD ALRIGHT...LMFAO!!!!

Pipe down cockroach. The closest you've been to the industry is when you attended a taping of The Voice.

    • Rabiah ibn Mudhar

Stephen Cooper and David Johnson aren't Jewish. Edgar Bronfman (The Jew) is no longer over at Warner. Basically, the label gave Drake $30 million to play with and earn double that for them.

    • Anonymous

And here comes YESSIR to spew out more bullshit. Go fuck yourself, faggot.

  • Anonymous

I can't believe Baby and Slim let him actually partner with another label.

    • Anonymous

YOUR A DUMBASS NO MATTER IF HE OPENS HIS OWN LABEL HE HAS A CONTRACT TO HONOR..HE HAS TO RELEASE 1 OR 2 MORE ALBUMS UNDER YMCMB...THEY WILL MAKE A PERCENTAGE OF ALL HIS SALES

drake has an awesome legal team and them williams brothers can't beat his paperwork.

These cats keep usin' Illuminati imagery to keep ppl talkin bout them. Or....

  • YESSIR

    NO??!! YMCMB NOOOOOOOO

    • Chris Etrata

@ Any. You have to be joking right. When Lil Wayne got his label, he perfectly could have choose not to sign with Baby. He did it because he's secretly in love with Baby. Drake did not have the same feelings towards Wayne, therfore, he was unbiased and was more open and Warner Bros had the best deal. I'm not sure how OVO acts will suceed but Rick Ross with his Maybach label found success at Warner Bros even though Ross himself is still signed to Def Jam.

    • ^

      That's a joke, right?

    • Anonymous

YMCMB is an amazing label, however, Cash Money was before that and Lil Wayne had to grow to create Young Money. This is just natural progression of an artist getting more money.

    • Chris Etrata

YMCMB SUCKS!!! Drake was at least smart enough not to subject his acts to YMCMB unlike Lil Wayne who is in a relationship with Baby.

  • Drake

Forgot to give you the second announcement. I am fully focused on OVO, none of this YMCMB crap that Wayne shits out. I am now moving myself to OVO.

  • Chris Etrata

Had Drake actually moved himself from ymcmb to ovo, he would be respected as a singer and his raps would be better. Drake is held down by Wayne'a antics since he is an executive producer along with Slim and Baby. At ovo, drake would be an executive producer on his own project and make better choices.

    • Chris Etrata

Wayne's work ethic is influencing Drake's. If Drake had his own work ethic, he would rise up and become respected amonst the rap community. It's true that Take Care is so much better than Wayne's but if Drake splits with YMCMB and focus more on the weeknd and 40, he would take more time with his songs and be acclaimed more and be put on the same level as Dre, Eminem, Kendrick.

    • Anonymous

i dont think you realize that the Executive Producers dont actually do anything but give the yes or no. Wayne even said it that he actually had very little input other than his verses on Take Care. And lets be real, no matter where he goes people are still going to insult him because he doesnt fit the typical mold of what a rapper should be. Also if you Listen to Carter 4 then listen to Take Care, Drakes album clearly shits on Waynes so right now hes doing pretty well

  • LOL

Drake gonna move from saying YOLO to OVO... Hahaha

  • Reality

Drake is just getting ready to sign to Roc Nation and letting J Cole produce half of his debut on The Roc. Everybody already knows that he belongs over there with Jay.

    • Chris Etrata

Roc Nation puts out only a few albums. The ones he put out, believe or not, actually sells more copies per title than YMCMB releases since BABY actually bought 100k-600k for YMCMB's top artists.

    • Anonymous

why would he go over there with Jay when so far his success at YMCMB completely outdoes anyone other than Jay at Roc Nation?

  • Anonymous

This guys is getting ready to go solo. He's a smart nigga. Wayne and Baby won't know what hit them.

  • rhondalance

The Weeknd is going to be quite successful.

  • Anonymous

And not one artist signed to that label will be successful.

    • Anonymous

yea that last paragraph is bogus. youre giving way too much false credit

    • ^

I don't believe that last paragraph.

    • Anonymous

It all depends on what your view of successful is. Some of you bloggers on consider successful to be the top elite artists that sell like crazy. If Drake signed artists like the ones he normally posts on to his OVO website, youre right they may not sell millions but theyll be great artists that are respected all throughout the industry. He has a great ear for talent. He discovered The Weeknd before anyone. His website posted music from people like Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, Lykke Li, Gotye, and plenty of other artists before a lot of people actually knew them.

I agree with these 3 comments

    • ^

It won't last long, though. Remember G-Unit?

    • Anonymous

You live in a fantasy world. Ignore your own opinion and accept reality. Drake is hugely successful, and if he makes sure to sign R&B singers and Soft pretty boy rappers cut from his own cloth, they will be quite successful. This generation loves simp music.
