Freddie Gibbs Runs Down Projects For 2013

Freddie Gibbs has a laundry list of projects in the works.

Freddie Gibbs recently chopped it up with Pitchfork for its Selector series, speaking on his upcoming projects as well as delivering a freestyle at the end of the clip.

During the interview, Gangsta Gibbs explained what it was like collaborating with Madlib on their EPs and upcoming album Cocaine Pinata, explaining that he used the project to push his limits as a lyricist.

"The record with Madlib, I don't think it's too many gangster rappers out there who could do a record with him like that," he said. "I think that's a challenge for me lyrically, just to step into his realm of beats and bring my type of shit to it. Things of that nature."

The Gary, Indiana native confirmed upcoming projects from Str8 Slammin' Click, as well as his Eastside Slim mixtape. "I'm working on that. I don't know how I'll put it out or when I'll put it out, but it's in the works. I'm about five or six songs in it already," he confirmed.

I really respect Freddie Gibbs & what he brings to the table for hip hop. He seems to be really genuine & down to earth. I'm really excited for the album with Madlib! I just hope Madlib comes with that heat! He's been kinda on the slump to me as of lately as far as his beats go. Madlib really let me down on that OJ Simpson joint with Guilty Simpson. But he did his thing on that Stoney Jackson joint with Strong Arm Steady. I guess we'll just have to wait & see what Cocaine Pinata is like once I buss it open in 2013, LOL!

The Madlib Collab LP will prolly be one of the most promising underground LPs of 2013. Of course we'll all see if the hype is real. But its no question he has one of the most prolific styles in rap today and the most in Gangster rap for sure. 2012 was a great year. Super ready for what next year holds in Hip-Hop no doubt.
