Joe Budden Says He Doesn't "Give A Fuck" If Fans Preferred "On The House" Over "welcome to: OUR HOUSE"

When asked about the reception both "On The House" and "welcome to: OUR HOUSE" have received from fans, Joe Budden offers up his thoughts.

During an interview with BallerAlert.com, Slaughterhouse rapper Joe Budden didn’t hold back when he was asked what his thoughts were on diehard fans being more impressed with the group’s On The House mixtape with DJ Drama rather than the more commercial welcome to: OUR HOUSE album.

The New Jersey rapper kicked off his answer with an interesting analogy before stating that he didn’t care which project fans preferred.

“Sometimes I like to take a shit in my downstairs bathroom and sometimes I like to take a shit in my master bedroom’s bathroom. And guess what? Since I have those two bathrooms there I have the option to choose between bathrooms,” said Joe Budden in a video posted on 2DopeBoyz.com. “What the fuck are you telling me about what these fans is talking about for? I can give two shits. Ya’ll have the mixtape, great. Glad you enjoyed it. Like some of the album? Want me to collage ‘em, wanna mix and match ‘em, make a perfect album? Aye, wipe your ass while you do it. We don’t give a fuck.”

Budden went on to back-up his remark, explaining that it’s “logic” and is a truthful answer for fans.

“That’s logic to me. That sounds better than, ‘Damn, that album is mad commercial and it’s not for me.’ I like that statement better. It’s honesty, truth for truth for the fans,” the rapper added.

1st of all Lyricism has nothing to do with beats and hooks you dumb fucks. 2nd y'all so called fans are super sensitive. As an artist their job is to make music. These men put out 2 projects in 2 weeks 1) so u so called fans can be happy and another to have a mainstream sound! Appreciate it or STFU!!!!! If y'all were really fans u would want these dudes to do something to appeal to everybody.

    • Anonymous

They gave you what you were looking for, for FREE the mixtape and you still complain?

    • ^^^^

      1. How can we appreciate it if the album sucked ass? 2. E-40 put out 60 songs in 1 day, but I don't see you riding his cock. 3. It's fine if they want to appeal to a broader audience. My thing is make a good album, and they didn't do it with this one.

I'm SUPER disappointed by this arrogant display from Budden. His mouth always was the thing that got him in trouble, but to lash out at the fans because YOU were involved in a sub-par project is weak. Can't lie, this dude owes his and Slaughterhouse fans a MAJOR apology and Em should get on him for that! You don't shit on the folks that feed you! Ever! If there's anything I can say about SH & Budden fans, it's that we are riders! Those of us that hardcore go all out for them and this is the thanx we get? Can't lie, I think Budden is gettin too big for his britches. I really hope this doesn't effect the rest of SH's success but Joe is in violation!

    • SCHWARZ

OL' BOY DOWN THERE HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD Y'ALL AIN'T ENTITLED TO SH!T BECAUSE U LISTEN 2 A COUPLE OF SONGS THAT BODEGA AIN'T GIVIN U NO FREE GROCERIES BECAUSE U COP STUFF THERE DAILY U BOUGHT A CD OR WENT 2 A SHOW SO WHAT & HALF OF U CLOWNS DON'T EVEN DO THAT WHAT U WANT AN APOLOGY 4? IF U A HARDCORE FAN U SHOULDN'T FEEL A CERTAIN WAY

  • Rhys

That's fucked up Budden. Your fans got you where you are. Don't fuck them over thinking you're going to hit mainstream success. Welcome to our house is proof that you're too lyrical to be mainstream and trying to make pop songs gets you alienated by your fans. I planned to buy it opening day, but after hearing some of the songs from the leak, i didn't. Our House is the worst project they've released. If we were pleased with your work before, why change it? Real fans will always support you. Stay true to what got you such a fanbase in the first place and stop trying to appeal to YMCMB and MMG fans. Budden needs to get a PR consultant. He makes himself look like an ass quite a lot. Try again Slaughterhouse. You can't do worse.

    • xeeeeeeeee

listen truth or truth by slaughterhouse u get ya answer..u bought the music not the nigga who made it

    • Anonymous

Make your own personal playlist? Like taking your favorite songs from the mixtape & the album, putting them together & making your own perfect album? Well, that would be great if there were any good songs on WT:OH. The only song on there that I thought was incredible was Goodbye. Coffin, Hammer Dance & Die were also my favorites but that's it. Everything else... garbage.

    • donnie mac

Budden did NOT f_ck up with his statement. SH gave people free music before they released the project. There is a thing called ITUNES, where you DO NOT have to buy the WHOLE ALBUM, you can pay for SINGLES. You can't put the songs you like into your personal playlist? NO. You have people like the resident clown, who has posted HUNDREDS of comments against SH for MONTHS. Probably has submitted HUNDREDS of comments in this thread and the weekly sales the last 48 hours. If the boy had NO INTENTION of buying SH music, WHY IS HE HERE? To offer his OPINION? Would YOU stay passive just to try to please that type of person? Are YOU allowed to go behind the cash register and the stockroom of the store or sample items for free just because you're a customer? NO. Same applies to music STOP CRYING "FANS".

Hip hop fans aren't hard to please. Royce and Em's CD went gold, and it had 9 tracks! I think people anticipated Slaughter's album, but when it took forever to come out, and several songs were plastered all over the net to lukewarm response, then it changed things. Bottom line, Budden shouldn't disrespect whatever fans he has. Just take the criticism, and come back more focused next time. If there is a next time.

    • ETK

dude yes hip-hop fans fucking are! Hell: the Sequel went gold in part because they had a top-charting single w/ Lighters. and it's fuckin' EMINEM.

  • Trent

On a side-bar I don't think this was disrespectful.. I just think people on this site are a bit unintelligent.. He is telling you; "We gave you the mixtape and the album for you to listen to BOTH, be happy. You don't like some of it? Just cut out the songs you don't like and make it one perfect CD. Or instead just say this album is too commercial for me and move on" You dudes going off are EXACTLY who he is talking about.. why are you so intent on discussing this album but you liked the mixtape?? BITCH GO LISTEN TO THAT INSTEAD THEN BECAUSE YOU GOT BOTH DIDNT YOU? Most likely the people bitching didn't even buy the album so why are you crying? Why is everyone on this site so intent on crying about everything..??

    • Huh?

Why would we even buy the album if we didn't like it to begin with? That makes no fuckin' sense.

    • itsthetruth

^^^^^^^ Joe Budden just posted in disguise. We don't believe you, Joe, you need more people.

    • Trent

I am too like most.. I would of prefered they went in like the artists they are.. that first LP & EP were dope, the mixtape had dope bars.. The album was actually pretty short on lyrics in my opinion.. and the overproduction got really damn annoying but damn it every song on there straight murdered 2 Chainz and Big Sean's albums so can I say it was bad? NAH.....

  • Trent

Racism, racism, racism, racism, racism. This site is garbage lol

  • quez

I may not agree with how Joe said it but I feel him wtf kinda fans are y'all I personally like the album way better, not lyrical? do y'all actually listen to music? both albums are lyrical of course the album is a more commercial album its suppose to be, I'd scream fuck the fans too cause y'all mofos aren't real fans real fans would understand in the music biz you have to appeal to as many ppl as possible and no matter what y'all think but album sales matter y'all mofos think making music is free y'all have no understanding of how much it cost to come out with a major album y'all keep screaming Hip-Hop is dead well if that's true the fucking fans killed it smh

    • ETL

Not that the album was bad, it just wasn't what was expected of them. The mixtape was more like what the people wanted from them. They could've changed the game for the better instead they chose to go with the norm. These days commercial singles aren't working for commercial artists either (ask Flo Rida) so why not take fully take advantage of the Shady cosign and bring that NY, NJ, Detroit, and LB in it's purest and at least gain critical acclaim?

    • Anonymous

plenty of people understand that, but it doesnt give them a pass for not making good music. you can come up with a million reasons to justify why the music wasnt good and convince yourself to like it because of those reasons, but to objective fans that just want good music we can make our conclusions based on whats coming through the speakers.

  • Anonymous

Wow. Fucking Hoe Budden has the audacity to shit on his fans? Unreal. The sales must really ether his soul.

  • Fossie

Im really pissed of all this racism in this fucked up forum!!Sales have nothin to do with your skin!!Eminem sold the most records of all time!!

  • So Icy Boi

Oh sry I forgot to say that I wanna suck his and birdmans dick every day!!!!!I love them so much !I didn`t ever hear one particular song by SH or any other rapper ,because I know they are all bullshit!!

  • Anonymous

none of you paid for the album stop the bullshit i would say fuck you to its one of the best albums released this year besides the roots album none of you are record executives so making a big deal about how many units it moved is stupid when none of you are getting money from the project the only thing you should be worried about is album REVIEWS.

  • So Icy Boi

lil wayne, since his inception has stayed true to the format, the guy is hip hop inside out, he knows the culture, has ties to legends (whom have vouched for him) he single-handedly created this mixtape shit, and did in 3 years what it took some of the greats to do in 10. FALL THE FUCK BACK, if you don't like duke why even bother? While you BLOG and keyboard slam your FUCKERY he's caked up, doing his thing, giving us consistent hip hop. wayne's the man and I've never been ashamed to say I've followed him and been an avid fan since 2001'. I mean, read his books, look beyond the music the guy is the realist of the real, he's ACTUALLY lived what he writes unlike 99.9% of these clowns. You guys need to pipe it down a tad, and take that evil out your veins, LISTEN to his music and embrace this man. PERIOD.

    • Anonymous

WAYNE DID NOT CREATE THE MIXTAPE GAME!! ur retarded and wayne has a billion ghost writers wake up., 50 cent single handedly created the format of how most mixtapes are nowadays. SO ICY BOII your fuckin retarded tie cement to ur leg and jump off a bridge u stupid fuck

    • quez

Wayne has been out since the late 90's and 50cent had a mixtape before Wayne ever thought about it

    • J

I'm not about to argue with your statement because it's your opinion. But fact - Lil Wayne did not "single-handedly create this mixtape shit". Mixtapes existed long before Lil Wayne started doing what he did. If you mean he made it popular... fact - 50 Cent kickstarted G-Unit by taking full advantage of the mixtape circuit which helped transform it to what it is today. Yeah Lil Wayne contributed, but he did not single-handedly create the shit.

  • come on son!

SH is getting too sensitive when criticised, i seen crooked and royce blow up at interviewers when they said they and the fans weren't feeling my life.. they know they done let down the heads with this album, but hell its still a good major label album, you just gotta take some criticisms of selling out on the chin.. lyrics are still dope even if their aint the punches like the first shit..

    • Anonymous

      All of you are idiots.

    • Deborah

But why should they sell out? They should be more ture to hip hop. Are mainstream fans that important?

    • Anonymous

LOL. Niggas comin in here with their capes on and shit. Signing to Shady and dropping a horrible, forced sellout trash-filled garbage CD is the absolute definition of selling out. Just to make sure, we're talking about the dudes whose whole gimmick was to bring real Hip Hop and lyrics back to the forefront, they were always claiming to be some super real underground lyricists, only to come out with a poppy, overproduced garbage CD where they do the opposite of what they did before and make beats the most important factor. Horrible ones at that. Crooked and Hoe Budden are some of the most pathetic existences that ever disgraced Hip Hop as a whole. Saying "Fuck the Radio" and shit, only to come out with an album that tries it's damnedest to get air play. Absolutely ridiculous and yall shameful niggas continue to fall for it. Worst track on the first one shits all over this.

    • yup

Sellout?? Ya'll need to recognize what selling out really is.

  • Deborah

I am annoyed that shit like Lil Wayne cna sell so well and get so many views on YT, when he is a mediocre rappers compared to all the greats like Big Daddy kane, Rakim, Nas, Eminem etc etc. But when genuine shit like Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf come along with intense rhymes, nobody buys the shit! Why? Everyone is far more impressed with mediocre bullshit, and this is why hip hop is a mess nowadays. But now, I no longer feel sorry for Budden, as the video below tells me that he is previewing a collaboration with Lil Wayne. Is this for sales and recognition? It may be understood, but seriously, this is just yet more bullshit- a desperate signal on a sinking ship.

real talk, honestly I can't listen to the mix tape to manny times and I'm really feeling the album but thats my OPINION y'all fake fans get over yallself

  • JAthot

The group is dope. They branched out on some mainstream shit and it didn't pan out as some of the fans expected. I still think they're lyrically better than the majority of the rappers out there. I wasn't feeling the Cee-lo track and I personally feel it was a bad decision as a single. That, the fact that they're older, the fact that lyrics aren't as important to sales as they used to be 10-15-20 years ago. Shit's changed and I don't think they can regain the majority of the youth's interest or care to.

DAMN SON. NIGGAS DID A SONG ABOUT COLLEGE. NIGGA STOPPED THE BEAT TO SAY "MOLLY'S." ALL INTENSELY LMAO! YO GET THIS SHIT OUTTA HERE. WHAT IS IT WIT THESE NIGGAS AND TERRIBLE SYNTHS? yeah, getting money. You'll probably be in your mama's basement once she realizes you don't keep your bedroom in check

  • Young King

Mixtape was dope and so was the album. I prefer the album cause i'm not a strictly back packer purist faggot that just likes only "bars" the whole album is good and has good "MUSIC" and I enjoy good "MUSIC" nuff said you hatin niggas can fall back now.

  • Mo

The album isn't a classic but it's still a solid album. I didn't like the album at all at first but after a few listens, it gets better and is definitely better than 75% of music that's selling. A good album can't be defined by how many units it moves; is Soulja Boy better because he sold more than Kool G Rap? Fuck numbers man, get your own opinion. Slaughterhouse made a mistake by delaying the album tho. Shoulda dropped after that BET cypher.

  • pocketrocketz

all these hataz on here..th mixtape was dope..the album was dope as fuck too!!i only skip 2 or 3 songs o the whole album compaired to only listeing to 2 or 3 o rick ross and MOST of the shit out now...best album ive heard since all 6;s n 7's..dope beats dope rymes..they got shit for the south..they got shit for the radio and tv..the metaphores were craazyy..good punchlines...thre creepin slowly into the rap game..the world aint ready for a straight all out hip hop album..they have to slowly change the game and wait till it evolves back to its roots than BOOM!!

Rick ross aint no gangsta he just another lost nigga

    • Deborah

And what must one do to classify onself as a so called gangsta? Laze around, commit crimes and pay women to like you, it seems. Time to get a new job, half of the rappers in the industry today. Rick Ross is not even good enough to be called a mediocre rapper. Shouting over terrible and repetitive production is not rapping. And his accursed Maybach Music Group can go and suck cock. It should tell you when a man has to use a car to advertise their music, that they are not about skills on the mic.

  • That Hobo

wouldn't know I can't get my hands on the album period only HMV seems to sell it and they keep selling out before I can get it. I do know that Truths or Truth off the mixtape is amazing pretty much the only 14 min song I've ever been able to listen to all the way through even though Crooked I verse is corny as fuck (which I can get over because it's usually him and Royce carrying the other 2) it has one of the only good Budden verses I've ever herd and Ortiz has always been hit or miss but he comes hard on that track. Might just wait 'till next month and get the SH, DMX, Tech N9ne & Vinnie Paz albums all at once.

  • Crass88

I NEVER post shit on this website but I have to get this off my chest. They came out and said they were gonna put lyricism back at the forefront. So why the f u c k did they make the album so corny and poppy? Budden is just mad cause it bombed. Slaughterhouse just lied to all its fans, f u c k you.

I can officially say that I "used" to be a fan of SH. I have their first album but I didn't even bother damaging my ears with "Pop House". The mixtape was trash too. These dudes just fell the fuck off including Eminem. RIP

    • Deborah

Em fell off? Perhaps. But lok at his song catalogue. Dope as fuck. Listen to that instead. It's a shame with SlaughterHouse. Maybe the production was pretty generic, but I think that as lyricists they are really good. Too bad retarded hip hop fasn can't understand that anymore.

  • Anonymous

DOGSHIT album, total FLOP, soulless plastic spazz rap even Eminem couldn't push on the gullible... Joell Ortiz solo is fucking awful also... the people have spoken!!

  • JMG

Joe is right. You cannot please everyone's expectations. That is why artists end up being in the positions they are in. Just look at how the game works. Great album, no buzz, no sales...the next man is going to say you went Wood and talk about how Drake sold triple plat. More crossover album, while still trying to be true to your own, good sales...the next man is going to say you sold out. For all of the music these dues made, collectively and individually, they always stayed true to their mold. As soon as they switch it up a little, then fans get upset. I say, if you like the mixtape better...then bump the mixtape and don't listen to the album! It's really simple. They cared enough about fans to give you both BECAUSE of the bi-polar shit fans give to these artists. There is no one universal, loved by underground AND mainstream, lyrical, never goes pop, sells platinum records rapper. But if you ain't that dude, you get shitted on because of how fickle rap fans are. I appreciated both albums and prefer the mixtape, but bought the album to support dope mcs...despite what I personally wanted as a fan. Not sure why we can't all be that way. Love it or leave it alone...

slaughterhouse signed a group deal(no solo albums) so im expecting a slaughterhouse album every year so to the people saying they sold out 1 album that you guy say is "popish" isnt gonna ruin there career theyll be back with more bars. also both projects were good

That's the proper way to respond to that question. "Fans" nowadays think they are A&R's and need to remember that the artist's job is to give an outward expression of WITHIN. So if you don't feel it...than don't...with that being said I prefer the mixtape over the album...LOL

  • SDK

SO DAMN GOOD ALBUM NOTHING MORE

  • RC

Get better producers and features on the next album! I think artist like DJ Premier & M.O.P. would be a much better fit than Eminem and Skyler Grey. Just because your signed to a certain label doesn't mean you can't branch out to other collaborators!

  • Phat RV

Welcome to our House straight up kicked the Mixtapes ASS!!! FUCKING CLASSIC, The Whole Album is smokin'. Keep up the good work guys.

  • ETK

Joe Budden, tell em nigga! these niggas ALWAYS prefer the mixtape over the album, they on some pop-aphobe... industryphobe shit. yeah the industry's fake at times and the labels can push the wrong shit but don't tell me the album was flat & the mixtape was genius... they weren't that different. Either you dig Slaughterhouse or you don't. the mixtape was solid, and it featured the one track that shatters niggas' arguments about SH not being able to make meaningful songs... Truth or Truth... that was the realest track in a minute. The album wasn't bad too, some good bars spread over decent beats and listenable production.. good effort all round. hip-hop ain't going down

  • casper21

seriously? If 'fans' can't find material they like on the album then they're listening to too much troll activity on these blogs and not their own opinions. There's a lot to offer on the album, very few really weak throwaway tracks.

  • Daman

3 question: do they get another try on shady? if they didn't give u a free mixtape would the album be this hated? Is this worst than Canibus first album floppin?

    • Anonymous

Canibus has way more money then these guys and his album was better but the money really don't matter jackass. Canibus has a legacy Joe budden has pump it up and a slew of stds..

    • Jay

@DrebinSlevin Oh wow and Canibus' made a lot of money with his other albums too huh? How did Canibus' career plan work out for him?

    • Anonymous

Jimmy Iovine owns these bums and if you think they'll 'get another shot' ya'll are fucking delusional... they'll be worse off than Stat Quo because they owe more $$$!!!

    • DrebinSlevin

Lol talking about how Canibus' first album flopped. It went gold dumbass.

    • Jay

Answers (in my opinion) 1. Yes they get another shot with Shady because this album was obviously heavily influenced by Em so Em must like this garbage (As he has been putting out garbage for years in my opinion) 2. I think they would be hated if there was no mixtape lol mixtape is dope as hell so im not as mad with the album. 3. Thats a bad comparison everyone in SH is 32 and up and have years and years of solo shit...Canibus was young and new when he flopped lol

  • Charles

Lmaoooo I aint even a fan like that but if u think that when he said "collage em" wasn't funny then u have no sense of humor lol mixtape was dope album was wack bigg fuckin deal thats all of mainstream

how is it a negative that Slaughterhouse has a buzz because a legendary rapper wanted to sign them, perform with them, publicly associate himself with them? I think being validated in that way meant more than anything. prefer joe's solo work anyway, I consider Slaughterhouse a lucrative side project lol

    • hapyhalowen

charging more for shows, honestly I don't think they'd know what to do with themselves if this thing really blew up. Joe might've gone off the deep end!

Cunninlynguists- Oneirology^ nobodies listening to them Tyler the Creator- Goblin sucked The Roots- Undun Watch the Throne alot of replay value Nas- Life is Good its alright Danny Brown- xxx good but a little replay value Kendrick Lamar- Section. 80 good

    • datnigga

@Anonymous ^ Yea I feel you...check out these rappers if you never heard of em: 'The ILLZ' and 'Locksmith' both different styles but really slept on

    • Anonymous

@datnigga Yeah i heard the vent before ,nice track on a softer subtle level. yeah just had a listen to some of those big krit tracks....I can get with it. like the use of adele on the sample. I hated watch the throne just as much as SH album so no to that! Tyler the creator is abit hit and miss for me,so is aesop rocky Nas life is good had some tracks i liked but i have played section 80 more than anything...section 80 is my benchmark and everything has to meet that expectation! I see people don't get why Kendrick gets hyped up! ,must never of heard keisha's song.

    • datnigga

@anonymous ^ Big Krit got a lotta different styles, so it depends what you prefer. Someone would be a fool to not like 'The Vent'. My personal favorites are: The Vent, Hometown Hero, Neva Go Back, As Small As A Giant, Dreamin, Free My Soul, My Sub, Red Eye, Boobie Miles, If I Should Die...He got too many!

    • The Newest In New

The list you requested... ^Cunninlynguists- Oneirology^ Tyler the Creator- Goblin The Roots- Undun Watch the Throne Nas- Life is Good Danny Brown- xxx Kendrick Lamar- Section. 80 And plenty more underground shit like Aesop Rock- Skelethon, Action Bronson- dr. Lecter or Ab Soul- Control Systems and JJ Doom- Keys to the Kuffs (Doom says it's his best work). Slaughterhouse seems caught between the underground and mainstream worlds on the mixtape and record. Crooked I is most famous just for being signed to Death Row and Joe Budden has the most individual clout of all these guys with "Pump it up" and that was more or less just a flash in the pan single for his solo career. Not sure what this group is all about besides rapping for the sake of rapping (and because they are all at least technically proficient rappers) which doesn't bode well for their longevity.

    • Anonymous

@datnigga yeah control system has more hits than misses! i can go with that! not heard enough big krit , i think its time for me to give him a chance, what i've heard from him at this point has been decent! ,hit me with a big krit track that you think i would be a fool not to like!

    • datnigga

Krit Wuz Here, Return of 4eva, Live from the Underground (Big Krit is gonna be a legend at the end of his career) Control System, Section 80 (TDE/Black Hippy) And I agree that the SH album has no reply value and will not stand the test of time.

Some of the blame has to go to interscope. You create a tour for these dudes for 5 months (Mar - July) with no major single, kept pushing the album back already made the fans weary and then the project didn't live up to the hype. I guess Mood Muzik 5 gone be EPIC after this failure. The question is will they get another shot on shady with 150-225K sales top. I got my copy.

    • Anonymous

NO. it was Laughterhouse's fault straight up-- Interscope tried to salvage a bad situation but it was fucking hopeless. Jimmy Iovine was humoring Marshall but the joke is about as funny today as Joell's fat sweaty ass... Eminem really saved hip-hop by putting these guys together and now they have released one of the best albums of the decade. I just wonder if they will win best new artist at the grammys cuz theres 5 of them? They should at least win best album, it will be Gold next month. IDK where Eminem find these guys but they are better than D12. Royce is the best in the group than yelawolf than Joe Ortiz. Haters are so mad because Eminem is white and found these guys, get over it haters. People need to remember that the powers that be are the ones that have the say so and if they like it they want to force feed us the BS. Just like every other Rapper these dudes are smelling themselves and think that what they say doesnt matter cause they are so "dope". These dudes need to remember that the fans are the people that buy they albums and go to the shows, you need to keep the people that help pay your mortgage happy or there will be another EPMD, Slum Village, ATCQ. i would think that them being on Shady would have made the album doper but I guess I was wrong...

Kendrick lamar is an example of a nigga who can rhyme, has an ear for beats, makes sure shits mixed right, and at the end of the day can actually rap on a beat and out rap every last one of these clowns. Slaughterhouse is a bunch of fools with somethin to prove cause they ain't ever had a real buzz. think about it, every last dude has tried to be mainstream, failed and then started sayin they was underground now. Lamar would out rap any of these clowns and he still has time to get his records mixed right.

KENDRICK LAMAR is the most overrated shit I've ever heard... Dude's vocal is weak and his punchlines are corny as hell to me. I've had friends throw me a million Kendrick tracks and I didn't like one damn song. Maybe a couple hooks were nice but that was it... House Gang's first record on SHADY had to be commercial.. If/when next Slaughterhouse album drops I think it'll be more tailored to the fans. Budden just talking out his ass tho... He cares what people think.

  • Mas B

What is so funny is that I was just in the car 10 minutes ago and I ejected the album and threw in the mixtape. I like Slaughterhouse and I kept listening to the album hoping it would sound different each time giving them the benefit of the doubt, but honestly the "On the House" mixtape is a much more better listen than the "Welcome to Our House" album. Just telling it how I see it....

  • Anonymous

Joey should listen to Nas's Life Is Good and realize that you can get mainstream success without getting Skylar Grey and all these pop artists.

    • Anonymous

No I'm not saying Life is Good was wack. I actually own a copy of it and I like the majority of songs on it. I'm saying there is always 100,000+ NaS stans that are guarenteed to purchase the album no matter what, which is why he has mainstream success.

    • Nah

^^ too many kids on this site and people with no clue. NAS Life is Good is one of the best 'mainstream' hip hop albums personally I've heard in years. Deep lyrics, good production, real hip hop no gymics. Slaughterhouse failed because they let Shady try to turn them into superstars. The guys are top lyricists but unfortuantely taking bad advice.

    • cdf

life is good was wack as fuck. boring as shit. no replay value either. not one banger on there. super mellow old man shit that rocks kids to sleep. nas is washed up and hip hop is the walking dead.

Album was great..the lyrics on the album were amazing. the mixtape, was also great but sounded like a mixtape..i think the album is a better all round project. i meant goodbye, get up, our house, rescue me, asylum...the list goes on. great album.

    • Anonymous

The majority of the songs on the album are actually very good. The problem is, the album as a whole is just far too commercial (the production gets annoying after awhile), has a completely random song order, has a few horrible songs (THROW IT AWAY, WALK OF SHAME, THROW THAT, ETC,) and numerous other problems like the hook on Flip a Bird (not to mention Crooked I's verse which is just a ... "Dude who cares" moment." Not only that but to keep their songs short they had to shorten their verses which means they cant do as crazy rhyme schemes or drawn out punchlines, etc, and still be able to end a verse right. Overall the album is good but not great. Take the 12 best tracks (including deluxe) and don't play them all at once and its much better.

    • Anonymous

Theres a lot of great songs on the album. in fact most songs are very good..can't see where all the hate is coming from tbh!!

    • Anonymous

throw that dick hammer dancer it's your life!!!

    • The Truth

Yeah, it's a great album compared to what Lil Wayne and Rick Ross are putting out. But compared to, Nas - Life is Good, or Strong Arm Steady - StereoType they are just being outdone both by other mainstream artists, and underground ones.

    • Anonymous

yeah all slaughterhouse fans care about is bars. the beat can suck, the mixing can suck, the flow can be off, the song can be boring as shit as long as words are getting rhymed. they are super lyrical genius. it's always the same. 4 idiots trying to out rap each other over wack beats with no direction. their music videos are embarrassing and they are poor interviews with bitter boring colorless personalities. good luck. let's see how far they go after the machine unplugs.

  • justobserving

I hate when artists love the fans at the start ,then they change the music up and say i don't care about what the fans think that originally got them there in the first place. I was and still am a fan of these guys, they making it difficult to like them though. I think the mixtape was decent, not great but for free i suppose good, but just because something is free does not mean i listen to it and go oh well its free so i suppose its good for being free! thats not how you listen to music! I'm waiting for a rapper to come out and say they not feeling the slaughterhouse album....its corny! seriously though this album was for 15-21 year olds.....if you over 21 and you listening to this album like its shit hot then wow! They can do all that i don't care what fans think shit but they do!

    • Anonymous

Yeah the people who wanted them to fail has no relevance they wasn't fans in the first place so its pointless saying that! and that bar for bar arguement is annoying me now! when the beats are horrible and the chorus is corny then it doesn't matter how good the bars are!

    • Anonymous

Why would they want SH to fail? I hate that logic. SH had a HUGE buzz before their first album but could never capitalize on it properly. That's it, that's all.

    • Anonymous

I honestly disagree. 25 here, thought the album was really good. I think people wanted this project to fail so they could say i told you so.. but fuck the haters, bar for bar that was an amazing album. But then music is subjective and that is my opinion.

  • Fossie

Fuck the haterz!!!!!!SH FOR LIFE!!!!CROOKED I BEST RAPPER ALIVE!!!

  • Be Honest

SH IS NOT that good. Why can't people just accept that simple truth. It has NOTHING to do with commercial vs underground. All the real legends in the game had balance between both extremes.

  • Just Logic

None of these guys were meant to be mainstream, that's why they each failed to become mainstream as solo artists and decided to join as a group. Nothing wrong with that, most mainstream rap is corny nowadays anyway. But being a group of guys who have always gone hard on corny mainstream rappers...to turn around and attempt to make mainstream music is corny in itself. It's not like they were just taking their style and trying to force it down the mainstream's throat, they tried to conform to it...they took Eminem's corny ass blueprint for his shitty recent music and tried to blow up off it. Now Budden is mad people are calling them on it. Bottom line is it's a fail for SH, they semi-sold out to do something they couldn't even do in their prime as individuals...they thought an Eminem co-sign was all they needed, when in all reality they could've just stayed in their lane with an Em cosign and sold just as much without the negative reaction

    • Anonymous

Co sign just logic. Anon1, everybody you mentioned went mainstream doing them. That's what people expected from SH. The album felt like the globetrotters trying to do fundamental basketball. Not what we would pay to see them do.

You telling me these LEGENDS are corny and unimportant artist? Miss me with the STUPID "mainstream" is bad because its mainstream argument.

  • ...

It's like he is saying "what do you want me to do, make a perfect album? " Every great rapper (Nas, Biggie, Em, Jay, Kanye, Etc) has at least 1 of what I would consider to be perfect or classic album. Since Joey Buttons isn't close to those dudes I don't expect a perfect album from him, so he actually defended himself well by acknowledging that he is incapable of crafting a classic.

    • Anonymous

Mood Muzik 4 is a masterpeice, and I'd definatly consider it a classic, not in the sense that is a game changing album, but its just that good. And all he's saying here is he can make different types of music as long as it comes out well so i dont know what you are on about..

    • Wasn't Funny In The First Place

First off, if I knew how to craft a classic rap album do u think I'd be sitting here typing to your dumbass? If your asking about the term "crafting a classic" its just a boast some rappers use and if you haven't heard that you must be listening to too much soulja boy/ chief keef. Eric . B/ Rakim Paid in Full- classic album, changed the game. Nas Illmatic- classic album, no bad songs. Wu-Tang Enter the 36th Chamber- classic album, RZA's production, ODB, Rae, Ghost lyrics. Eminem The Slim Shady LP- classic album, changed the game again. I could not actively listen to wt:OH two times in a row without loosing interest and that is a sign that this is not an album that will stand the test of time and be selling copies 10-20 years later like the albums I list above. Or it is a sign that I'm out of touch, which I'm not, so it isn't.

    • ^^^^

Explain to me how you can craft a "classic" album. This isn't a joke, by the way.

This Nigga has some fucking Nerve, It was FANS that got Slaughterhouse popular in the first Place, It was FANS that made Shady want to Sign Them, Then They go ahead and Drop a GARBAGE Ass Album and now it's fuck the FANS? These Niggaz have Careers because of Fans, Watch this Shit come back and Bite Them in the Ass when They put out another Album, Flop and then get Dropped from Shady.

  • joe buddens is a reality star now

and i dont give a fuck that slaughterhouse is about to get dropped and break up. joe budden epitomizes the group. unlikable loser with a self entitlement complex. all 4 of them are unlikable bums that never won and never will. grand opening grand closing. the slaughterhouse major label experiment is done. failure to launch.

  • chuckbarry

STOP BITCHING GO SUPPORT GOOD MUSIC AND BUY THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE LP!!!

  • SURREAL ROXANNE

ah, damage control!!! and in true LAUGHTERHOUSE fashion, it ends up being another self-inflected gunshot... watching these fucking bums DROP... FLOP... and PLOP has been the by far the most entertaining rap story of 2011-12... nobody does it better!!!! Throw a dick, Joe!!! Hammer Dance, Joell!!!

People and fans now a days are so judgmental and unappreciative of things and expect and want to much and then feel like they have the right to bitch and rant about every little thing Hip hop fans have been spoilt and don't realize how lucky they are that urban artists put out so much free content for people for free and still people ain't happy Like what Royce said on some track recently what have you done for me When was the last time you bought something and it actually came outta your pocket Answer that If i gotta answer questions from you You gotta answer questions from me What are you doing for me Answer that Would you be saying the same thing if you weren't sitting behind your computer

  • triPAUD

I also question these so-called "diehard" fans. cause it seems a lot of them have fucked up views of who these dudes are.

  • Anonymous

Even SH is sick of it's silly rigid ass fans.

  • Anonymous

at least he aint blaming his major labels or throwing them under the bus like most of these rappers do today when they hear one bit of criticism

  • Anonymous

Joe Budden is just being honest and is saying wat about 99% of rappers think about their fans/critics of their music 2day. As long as they're selling records & sellin out shows, they cud give a shit about wat hip-hop fans think. We (rap fans) are fickle. We change our mind everyday & are arguably the biggest critics in any genre. If I was a rapper, I wouldn't give a shit about the fans opinions either. As long as da checks coming, dats wat matters at the end of the day.

  • Anonymous

real talk, most of these people are youngins. they need to continue going to class. the album, (as most albums are) is more deep. mixtape more lyrical.

  • 614grind

They couldn't have really expected this album to chart well. There is an inverse ratio when it comes to talent and sales.

  • Raekwon

I don't like none of them...Corny wack ass punchline rapping ass niggas.

  • Anonymous

It must suck to try and be mainstream but still flop. Also it must suck to come out as a mainstream rapper 10 years ago but get blackballed into undergound, then make it back to mainstream and fail AGAIN. NOW THATS TRUTH FOR YOU JOEY BUTTONS.

  • TAY

Why does all the bad comments on this nigga have a response. Seen the same shit on the slaughter house page. Shame this nigga and the rest of slaughter house not counting Em is shit and respond soon as someone calls them Shit. Face it your Shit.

  • kmarx10

THE ALBUM GO'S HARD. INTERSCOPE/EMINEM did not promote the album what so ever. Fuck the music videos and them lame ads on Hip Hop Blogs. I'm talking bout Billboards AD, Commercials, countless appearances and even gimmicks if needed... Its Sad that This Real Hip Hop flopped over bullshit FUTURE who sold double the amount that "welcome to :OUR HOUSE" sold.

  • CrdnlSn

I think that slaughterhouse should all learn to skateboard, wear colorful clothes, and have their butts out.

  • NYC

This nigga dont have any fans.

  • Prewoz

I feel him. I mean everybody talking has an opinion. I'd be pissed if I had to hear it all the time too.

  • Anonymous

Tell'em Joe....they like the mixtape over the album because the mixtape is FREE.....

  • Anonymous

Damn Joe you could at least thank us for buying your disappointing album lol

    • Anonymous

i dont think he's refering to us who bought the album...he goes after those bitches who claim Hiphop is dead...they blog all day trolling...they dont buy shit and they still complain

  • Trent

How many people critizing the album bought it.. lol /end

  • burr

The thing is, he's hearing this for a damn good reason. It's constructive criticism, if anything. Us fans (and I think it's safe to say that Slaughterhouse fans are not necessarily Joe Budden fans) prefer the music we heard "On the House" to "Welcome to: Our House". That hardcore lyricism is what we expected out of the album, not this caged animal petting zoo music. Joe needs to learn a little humility.

    • Burr

Thank you, Still Didn't. I did purchase the album, so it's ridiculous for you, anonymous, to assume that for me to criticize it I must've downloaded it. And I do "understand" what it was supposed to be about - I've seen Slaughterhouse live twice! I do enjoy the album as a whole, but I also feel like all the shit that Slaughterhouse talked about the mainstream artists went into Joe's toilet, to follow the analogy. I'm very open to new music. But a lot of this music has no soul. The fire that the group usually raps with feels very contained. There are very few stand-out moments for any of the rappers. The hooks drown out the verses. So, all I meant was that the album was disappointing, mainly because I love Slaughterhouse and know what they are capable of. And "On the House" represents that more than "Welcome to: Our House".

    • Still didn't

The problem is SH still didn't make GOOD songs while attempting to go mainstream. There's nothing catchy, no hooks that just pop out, or a beat that you're like dang if I could only get the instrumental on. Rick False has numerous songs that I dont care for but his beats ARE BANGING. There are numerous artist who don't have good/meaningful lyrics but there hooks are catchy and addictive. What SH have on their album? Some incoherent circus music that will be an afterthought in less than a month. The don't get radio play for a reason. You can chalk it up to people not wanting real music only for so long...then you just have to come to terms with the fact that your product sucks. They have a machine now and if they had a good product then they would have radio play. So it looks like J. Budden will HAVE to shit downstairs soon if SH don't start creating songs worth listening to.

    • Anonymous

anon, real talk. burr, if that's what you expected from SH, you never understood what its about in the first fucking place. SH was never JUST hardcore lyricism, if you've listened to any of their extensive discographies.

    • Anonymous

if so ...we would've had other pieces of shit complaining that the album doesnt have songs at all just lyrics..that SH cant make songs at all...so at the end of the day u niggas complain and illegally download shit...and when u guys buy some shit u buy 2chainz,Ross,Wayne,Drake and Minaj...ill fuckin beat the shit outta that dude who will stand in front of me and say HipHop is dead...when u guys say Wayne sucks just think that Nas only did lets say 300 k...and 2chainz did more

  • Anonymous

there a bunch of fuckin pussies...Lil Wayne dick riders and so called SH fans that dont like the ideea of SH being mainstream...yall some bitches btw...thats why hiphop is in a fucked up state...

  • philly!!

why complain? slaughterhouse fans got a mixtape and a cd to listen to. how many rappers do that nowadays?

  • anon

nigga you ain't some motherfuckin mozart. Slaughterhouse is trash, you trash, you been washed up and this your last chance to have anything close to fame, fortune, or recognition. Bitch ass buddens, nobody is bumpin buddens, not even in NJ. now you done exposed yourself as the lame motherfucker you are to your fans, hopefully this dumbasses finally get they heads out they asses.

    • Anonymous

Buddens is human dogshit, an embarrassment to HUMANS let alone the great history of black music... If Curtis Mayfield, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendix etc weren't already dead they'd be throwing themselves off bridges if compared to this talentless cornball. 99.9999% of rap = retard music for retard people, LAUGHTERHOUSE "fans" being the most retarded of all.

    • Anonymous

This cornball is mad that a rapper stood up and said f*ck you and your opinion.

  • dockevoc

saw these guys at rock the bells, nj...unfortunately we got to see crooked i freestyle for 15 straight minutes and then hear a few commercial joints...these guys have no fucking clue what their doing...if you want to sell, then sell yourselves...if you want to be underground and say fuck it, make dope hardcore shit...but you can't have it both ways...

    • dockevoc

anon i didn't say they had to fit a cookie cutter mold, I said that no matter what they are trying to sell they should actually TRY and sell it...a business without a strategy is recipe for failure, and i'm not calling them failures, i'm saying that they really don't appear to have plan for success...if they just want to freestyle live and garner respect from the hip hop community then that's cool, if that's all they really want...and yes, they were in fact horrible live, for what it's worth

    • Anonymous

DING DING DING-- these guys are HORRIBLE live... they give half the fucking tickets away in cities and ** nobody ** who wants moe than to see fat fucking Joell SWEAT is musically impressed... ** NOBODY ** How's that Summer Jam appearance Em set up work out? Exactly!!

    • Anonymous

They coulda pulled it off, if they did what they do best instead of what they thought they should do. Maybe they should've slapped a barcode on "on the house".

    • Anonymous

dockevoc, sorry they dont' fit in your cookie cutter. what fuckin bitch

    • dockevoc

it's simply good business to advertise your product, that's all i'm saying

    • Anonymous

why the fuck not ?? its bcuz u say so....hell no i want them to do them ...i want the mixture between underground and mainstream

  • Anonymous

Well fuck you i dont like your mixtape, album and your attitude. Without fans you would work at mc Donalds

  • The Truth

"Thought we were defying the odds, I thought that we weathered the storm I thought that we'd travel the same road, I thought that wed never conform Dont tell me you bastards tricked me, dont tell me that I was just wrong Cause now I'm masked and it gets to me, whenever were about to perform" - Joe Budden on the song Gone off Slaughterhouse - On the House, the mixtape. Seems he agrees with the fans.

  • Anonymous

i didnt preferred both of them. Oh and fuck you for selling out with: singing, techo beats etc.

  • Anonymous

album sucked a couple good tracks but wow. shit...

  • Anonymous

LOL @ people calling him hurt or upset this is how joey has been since day one tell it like it is, you dont like it? too fucking bad.. albeit i too preferred OTH to WTOH but im not gonna say that WTOH was a BAD album. it was different, and that difference didnt appeal to me. nuff said. SH all day youngin.

  • Cwigg

Love his honesty...but shoot from the hip, be damned who cares Budden, is going to say something someday to really piss people off...namely the other Slaughterhouse members. MARK MY WORDS.

  • Anonymous

He's hurt as fuck lol. But I agree with what he's saying. Too bad they had their chance to become noticed more and they flopped hard. Back to underground for you losers.
