The Fall is almost here, but with it comes the rise of new music (get it?). Alot has happened over the past few weeks, and our Top Singles list is proof that once artists really get their creative gears going, the results are big. We have some returns this week, but for the most part a lot of it is brand new from some mixtapes that dropped and also some tracks the world has been waiting for. It’s always a good sign when an artist delivers – for both the fans and the artists themselves.

Kanye West, Jay-Z and Big Sean Are One Big Clique

A Kim Kardashian reference really goes far doesn’t it? Just kidding, but Yeezy’s line in the latest track “Clique” did pack enough punch to be internet gold: “Eat breakfast at Gucci / My girl a superstar all from a home movie.” Sure, he’s making a reference to Kim K’s sex tape with Ray J, but Kim’s man can’t do it then who can? At Jay-Z’s curated Made In America festival this past weekend, the three-the-heard-way combo of Kanye, Jay, and Big Sean performed this track “Clique.” The teaser artwork followed, then the snippet. Long story short, it made it to the tippy top of our list at #1. Congrats, guys. Big Sean had a busy week on the list outisde of the top spot. He reached #4 with “100,” #6 with “RWT,” and closed out the list at #10 with “24K Of Gold.”

Lil Wayne’s Mixtape Produces Big Results

Everyone was spiraling over Lil Wayne’s new mixtape Dedication 4 with DJ Drama (check out our review). The biggest controversy on the tape was of course on Weezy’s remake of Kanye West’s “Mercy” where an assist from Nicki Minaj turned into an admission of adopting the Republican party. Per Nicki: “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney / You lazy bitches are fucking up the economy.” Well then. Surprisingly, that song didn’t hit our top singles list, but “Green Ranger” with J. Cole did at #2. Meanwhile, DJ Khaled’s“Hip-Hop” will never go away. That’s on the list yet again at #8. If you missed our review of Kiss The Ring, read it here.
