2 Chainz "Based On A T.R.U. Story" First-Week Sales Projection

2 Chainz will most likely top the charts with his debut album "Based on a T.R.U. Story."

The first-week sales projection for 2 Chainz's Based on a T.R.U. Story has been released.

According to HDD, the Def Jam recording artist's solo debut is expected to move between 130,000 and 140,000 copies in its first week. Those numbers should put Tity Boi's LP at the top of the charts.

Additionally, Insane Clown Posse's new LP The Mighty Death Pop!; Smothered, Covered & Chunked; Freaky Tales; Mike E. Clark's Extra Pop Emporium is expected to sell between 35,000 and 40,000 copies, which should give it a top five debut.

2 Chainz's Based on a T.R.U. Story has spawned singles including "No Lie" featuring Drake and "Luv Dem Strippers" featuring Nicki Minaj. It also features guest appearances from Kanye West, Dolla Boy, Mike Posner, Lil Wayne and more.

A bunch of dumb niggas on this shit. Do yall not know what PROJECTED means? It means they got the first days sales, and pretty much made up the rest of the numbers. It means that's what they THINK the album will sell. They have NO idea. Just like they think ICP will sell 40k copies. They haven;t had a release week over 25k in 10 years. Besides that ICP CD leaked 5 days before the release. That shit KILLS sales for small sellers. Nas selling 170k after 20 years is fucking HUGE. Yall are fucking jaded. Aint nobody selling millions but Wayne, Kanye, and Eminem anymore. REALIZE THAT SHIT.

"There was no cohesive thought process for the album ya know" Fair enough. I didn't expect a thing from it. It had good beats and shallow lyrics. What's the problem?

  • Anonymous

"It meets the type of fans nobody cares about" 140,000 people cared to go buy the album. People like to go on-line and talk about supporting hip hop, whether it be Nas, Slaughterhouse, 2 Chainz, etc. but when their albums drop, nobody buys it. They bootleg, thus making those tell all first week numbers look really bad.

"So every time Sean Combs changed his name he was a newcomer?" Everybody knew who Diddy was. He could have changed his name to Metta World Peace and it wouldn't have mattered. 2 Chainz had to start over from scratch and rebuild his fanbase.

  • Rover Curiousity

hope this shit flops like drop balls, so Kanye West can focus on real artist like Mos Def & Common Maybe sign Talib, AZ, Pharoah Monch, Nas, and Lauryn Hill

    • queen queta

it was released on def jam lol dont be a hater all yo life and please let me know wat store your cd is being sold in......oh ok

Flop!! All of those features this nigga does and all of that promo leads to these disappointing numbers? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! This shit won't go gold in the long run.

  • Anonymous

wow dis is high expectations & tho I think 2chainz is a very average rapper, he's been puttin in work and hardwork deserves success

Another example of the zombies that people have become. Whatever you feed poeple they like and will buy. 2 chainz is avg....he goes on a song with Kanye and he can be num 1. Sad thing to see. I hate what has happened to music, rap in particular.

  • Dale

Well big ups to him if he can pull that off.

Dont know why u guys always hate on 50 cent.So what if his last album didnt measure up to his previous 3 albums?500k insnt bad. He makes money by other means,u dont and he is a upright and model law abiding citizen, pls check ur facts. Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent got busted for minor DUI IN 2000.Becos of his wrap sheet full of minor offences he was offered a deal to snitch or face jail.Curtis Jackson beig an upright citizen and wanting to walk a straight path offered some information to the feds but they wanted more.Curtis further offered to gather more information from his neighbourhood drug n crime activities and report back to the feds.Since meeting up with the feds was risky, Curtis Jackson being a smart guy opted to put his gathered information or "Snitching" in a record called "Ghetto Koran".A good number of cold cases in New York has been solved based on this Affidavit ..sorry..based on that single. Now south jamaica queens is becoming safe. 50 cent can however not go back there bcos of threat to his life. What a selfless move to make his local neighbourhood safe

  • alec berg

he aint doing no 6 figures first week

  • WTF?

2 Chainz been grindin' for a long ass time he deserves to sell that many units. Big Krit will either get better or fall off like J Cole has fallen off but he has to get better. Nicki Minaj moving units with dumb me down music why cant 2 Chainz? That's what sells. Plus he has a Kanye co-sign. Stop hatin.

    • Darius

His album was garbage? You tell me the last rapper that produced most of their own album, debuted at #1 & managed to go gold. You can't. He had a good first album and still managed to be successful without much promotion. He sold over 200k the first week...you're fucking insane.

    • Anonymous

J Cole album was garbage and I was very disappointed...He is overrated and hipsters prop this dude way more than they should...

    • That Dude

LOL @ the J Cole falling off comment...I guess not putting out a song every week is considered falling off these days SMH. Cole is trying to bring value back to music by not releasing bull shit every other day.

    • Dat Dude

Yea..How has J.Cole fallen off? Dude has been touring all over the world. Smh

    • Anonymous

      J. Coles album came out a year ago. Since then hes been touring. How on earth is that falling off???

  • The Game

u fools need to stop blogging here, get outta yo house and go grab a copy of my classic album that has ALREADY gone gold! #RED ALBUM

  • Anonymous

lol at all the fools who bought this shit

  • Tonybakercomedy

Nas was able to capture a #1 with no radio hits and no mixtapes. Just his name and quality output. With this buzz about 2 Chainz and all these appearances and this & that. His projections are a little disappointing honestly. But the album as a whole is not good at all. "Life Is Good" is the best album of the year so far in my opinion. Focused and consistent minus "Summer On Smash". "4 Eva & A Day" by Big K.R.I.T. & "Control System" by Ab-Soul are the other best releases of 2012 so far. In my opinion. And please remember Peeps. This is music, so everything we say is all opinion and taste based. Calm the faaack down. LOL.

those are some pretty big numbers for a rapper like this ... I don't know what to say. I was expecting like 30,000 first week. 140k tho ? thats fucked up.

  • kurtousy

Let me start off by saying, I am a big fan of Tity Boy aka 2 Chainz. His last two mixtapes were fire, had me hyped to say that this was going to be the most fun album to listen to this year. This turned out to be absolute garbage. He let me down. This was a lazy ass effort at best. I know he is not the most lyrical, but I know he has better writing abilities than this. This was rushed to capitalize off of his recent mixtape success. What's even sadder is that he will still move more units his first week than Big K.R.I.T has moved thus far and Krit album was a 1000x's better than this BS....

  • Anonymous

hip hop dx wont review this album they want to keep his dick in there mouth this album is trash

  • poloboi

i had a foursome for christmas wtf

  • poloboi

man i hate when a nigga mixtape sound better than an album and when a nigga makes up words to rhyme crinack finuck lol

"His type of music doesnt hit that broad fanbase no matter how much the radio makes you think it does" Quite the opposite. His music is exactly what people eat up nowadays, especially at clubs. The lower than expected sales figures are thanks to the people who download for free.

    • Anonymous

^^ they get my point i was trying to make. That broad fanbase that actuall goes out and buys the albums to make huge debut numbers.

    • Anonymous

It meets the type of fans nobody cares about. The ones that will listen to it if its on the radio but dont care enough to pay for it. Who wants that audience??

  • Anonymous

"Someone has got to teach him how to make an album because this was just a glorified mixtape" To each their own, but how did it sound like a mixtape?

    • Anonymous

There was no cohesive thought process for the album ya know. It had the same flow as his mixtapes. Songs just thrown on a disc. There may be about 6 to 8 lines out of all the songs on there that give you a glimpse into the artist. Other than that he didnt say anything that we havent heard before. Even the album structure. The first song of an album should sound somewhat like an introduction of what you should expect to hear. This had nothing like that whatsoever. Overall, All it was was just reworded. Still a fan but i wish he had someone like Kanye show him how to put together an album.

  • Anonymous

"He's been in the game for years. He's not a newcomer" Well now he's known as 2 Chainz, so in a way he is a newcomer.

  • Anonymous

It's a highly disappointing day in hip hop when a guy this lyrically wack moves this many units.

  • Anonymous

i actually brought dis album n da whole album fire dont get me wrong it aint a klassic but it aint trash neither

  • Anonymous

130-140,000 units!? When Krit sold 40k... wow America is retarded....

    • Anonymous

Krit doesnt have 150 features out right now either. Krit also doesnt have over a number 1 song. I like Krit but its not fair to him to compare Krits sales to 2chainz. Krit for the most part had one huge feature and that was Ludacris. 2Chainz has drake on his single, nicki on another, wayne on another, is on Good Musics single, and is all over the radio and intenet. With all of that going for him of course 2chainz is gonna outsell Big Krit

  • Anonymous

WTF? 130-140,000 units? If he do 100,00 that's sad cuz this nigga wack. He raps just like Lil Wayne. Saying a bunch of shit that don't mean nothing. Bubble gum rap. That's what sells now though it's sad

  • it really is dead

this guy is a fucking shit mc i heard the actual album its pretty bad but dumb fucks buy shit these days

  • Anonymous

This doesnt surprise me at all honestly. Its only a little lower than i expected but lets be real, His type of music doesnt hit that broad fanbase no matter how much the radio makes you think it does. Just because hes all over the hip hop radio stations doesn mean shit. If you listen to those radio stations that play majority billboard singles, youd see his music NEVER shows up. EVER. On top of that, even as a 2 Chainz fan, i thought this album sounded like a mixtape. There was no cohesive thought process other than money, fuckin, and smokin. Someone has got to teach him how to make an album because this was just a glorified mixtape and even still, Codeine Cowboy completely shat all over this project and TRU Religion is better than this as well

    • Anonymous

not a flop. Moreso a reason to explain why it wouldnt do super huge numbers. The second paragraph is just my personal opinion. You and i both know you dont do the super huge numbers unless your music is on 85% of radio stations

    • Anonymous

You're talking as if this is a flop ...

  • Anonymous

  • OUCH!

Album is TERRIBLE!!! 2 Chainz i meant of course duh!

  • Jay-Z is da GOAT

35,000? Thats great job for newcomers like 2 Chainz. Rapper Nas sold 170,000 while he's been 20 years in the game. That's a FLOP

    • Anonymous

you are all dumb except LOL, 2chainz didnt sell 140 000 he is PROJECTED to sell that much by the end of the sales week

    • LOL

LOL @ JayZisaGOAT you just insulted yourself with everything you typed, making it known you dont know what the fuck your talking about.

    • Dashing

There's so much wrong with what u said. Where to start: 1) He sold 140,000 not 35,000 2) He's been in the game for years. He's not a newcomer 3) Nas selling 170K and having the #1 album in America after 20 years proves his staying power and is NOT a flop.

    • firealarm

35k was ICP's units sold you dyslexic moron.

    • Anonymous

this guy wont be around 5 years from now

    • Anonymous

Check the numbers again. Also tity boi is hardly a newcomer
