T.I. Says Atlantic Records Asked For His Opinion On Young Jeezy Being Appointed SVP Of A&R

T.I. applauds fellow rapper Young Jeezy for his Senior Vice President of A&R role, says he'd likely pass on a position like that.

News of rapper Young Jeezy’s new Senior Vice President of A&R role at Atlantic Records may have hit the masses late last week, but according to T.I. he’s known about Jeezy’s A&R gig for quite some time now. During an interview with Chicago’s 107.5 WGCI the rapper revealed that not only did he know about Jeezy’s SVP position, but he was also approached by Atlantic Records to give his thoughts on Young Jeezy taking on such a role.

“I think that’s phenomenal for Young and I’ve known about it for quite some time now. He came and spoke to me and asked me how I felt about it as far as whether or not it was a good fit for him,” T.I. explained. “And they came and asked me how I felt about it whether I felt that he was a good fit for the position and what not and I think it’s phenomenal…Me and Young we got a personal relationship as well as a professional one. And it’s a mutual respect that goes a long way back.”

When asked if he could see himself in a similar position in music, T.I. went on to explain that with his extra time dedicated to acting and other projects he doesn’t see where such a role would fit into his schedule.

“Now as far as me, I don’t know if I could necessarily do it,” said the rapper. “When I’m not working on my projects or focusing on my label’s projects I’mma go do me some movies or I’mma be bouncing back and forth doing other things. So I just don’t know how much undivided attention I could dedicate to a position like that.”

T.I.’s eighth studio album Trouble Man is expected to be released sometime this fall.

"its a mutual respect that goes a long way back. Wait.... did they NOT have a massive beef a few years back? Sure, they are working together now but " a long way back"?

    • ETK

I don't think Tip and Jeezy ever beefed, and even if they did, they've been chill for years now. they been down with each other since before Top Back remix, which is already half a dozen years ago now.

DentalDamBoy, you're ignorant. You think the only money BoB is getting is in the states? That man is on fire over in Japan, China & UK. You do realize there are more American Speaking citizens in China than there is in the United States right? Open your mind..

WTF does, "American speaking" actually mean? You're a jackass!

    • smartazz

Did you mean 'there are more English-speaking citizens in China than there are in the United States'?

    • dentaldamboy

More "American Speaking" citizens? You must be kidding me? This is the caliber of my haters! You mean English-speaking, right? As for the facts, Strange Clounds the album has not been certified in any domestic or foreign territory. Meaning, he isn't killing it anywhere.

    Jeezy behind a desk?

    • ETK

and what exactly do you think entails being behind a desk? they wouldn't fuckin put Jeezy there if they knew he wouldn't be able to do a good job

    • jamairreo

see thats the problem with some of these rappers they try to do to much without proper knowledge just becus u can make hit records dont mean u need to be behind the desk in a year or less ur gonna hear about him gettin fired sit ya ass down somewhere and do what u do best and thats music i understand tryin to branch out but dam u cant do every fuckin thing

  • dentaldamboy

Atlantic didn't ask TI shit. This guy has never developed a star under grand hustle. Atlantic is losing MILLIONS on BoB. Haha TI must be hard up for publicity if he's stooping to these lows.

    • hjk

B.o.B and Drake? when did they have hit together you're trippin' by the way, B.o.B didn't flop, both of his albums sold like 80k in the first week, but the first one went gold and Atlantic and Grand Hustle made money from his multi-platinum singles and shows, he is something like Pitbull or Flo Rida, he doesn't need to sell albums, he got singles and he made it to the forbes list last year

    • dentaldamboy

BoB's most recent CD flopped. He's not gonna have a budget for his next project. That means no more big features. BoB can't make a hot record without Drake, Haley Williams, Miguel and the rest of the cast. You guys talk all this shit about DJ Khaled. Keep it 100 and apply the same standards to BoB.
