Ill, but where is the Nas collab

  • BAD-JET!

IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME. As a huge fan of this mans work I've been waiting so long to hear some news besides him banging on of the Rothchilds daughters. (Which is very funny). Now im just hoping he sticks to what made the world follow him in the first place. This album is going to be a masterpiece.

If you're into hip hop's equivalent of junk food this is not for you. This is grown man rap, if you youngins make it past 35 you don't have to stop listening to it. This album might help that lane, dude's nice, kinda wish Doom or Nas were in it because they would fit in this.

  • GRENADE

    • Anon...

You've got to be something kinda special to release less then 20 tracks 5 years ago and still have this much hype!

  • Anonymous

I've heard of Jay Electronica, heard a couple of his joints, liked them and I believe everyone here is closed minded as fuck, writing this off like it's gonna be terrible already. I can honestly say just by the titles I'm hyped up to hear every track. To the people below, what does him being 38 have to do with how good he is as an ARTIST. He's a rapper, not a number, 38 don't mean shit if the guy makes music that I like. If anything him being 38 makes me happier that he's not gonna do some immature infinite swag dumb shit, the older you are, the wiser you could get and the more you could know because there's been time to learn it. The features are as good as they're gonna get for a mainstream label pushed album and the reason this shit is delayed so much is probably because LOOK AT THE FUCKING TRACKLIST...... "New illuminati" featuring one of the most notorious illuminati rappers out... Kanye West. This is getting pushed back and delayed not because Jay aint finished, but because what he put on the table is probably too much for a bunch of dumb fucks to handle properly. The label is probably scared to drop it because of what it is. Same with Detox, I think it's 30% they're lazy and can't decide what's good enough and 70% trying to build up some legendary hype for the album. Even if Dr Dre died that album could drop, and the label that drops it could make a KILLING. Who wouldn't buy that album out of wondering what it sounds like after so long of it being rumoured to exist?

    • Big Dan

The features are as good as they're gonna get for a mainstream label pushed album and the reason this shit is delayed so much is probably because LOOK AT THE FUCKING TRACKLIST...... "New illuminati" featuring one of the most notorious illuminati rappers out... Kanye West." We are getting too concerned with the illuminati in the hood. We need to stop. "A track called "New illuminati" featuring one of the most notorious illuminati rappers out... Kanye West" is not the reason the album won't do "as well" (I can see it doing at least 50k the first week even if they dropped it today.) The answer is in the first part of your statement...Look at the effing track list! What is Jay Electronica on? I don't want to knock the album as I have not heard it and I believe in not judging a book by the cover, but has there even been a rap album with a more pretentious track listing? What is dude on? He is a fraud. I started hearing about his hype, would click on a couple video to check him rapping and he would spend half the time talking to the audience and maybe drop one song. "Bonnie & Clyde" could be a regular rap song, he could be talking about him and a chic, but his got a french rap singer on it, so not sure, "Road to Perdition" he could do something clever that slightly takes from the movie and I don't see Jay-Z on some space age eesh, so it could be a good one and "Rough Love" could also fit into the mold of a traditional rap song. If they are actually talking about rough love, hopefully, they don't get too nasty with it, but other than that, dude seems to be on something else. I don't think rap should be stupid, infantile and really just the plain embarrassment that it is turning into for the culture and our people as a whole (this is what we are putting out?) but we don't want to get too high brow with it either. By the way, albums get delayed not because of the title of a song or two, matter of fact, labels like controversy and will push until they get blowback they can't deal with. They do it because they determine the album will flop and that's usually because the singles are falling flat at radio or worse, they are not happy with what the artist turned in. I am not sure if they've started pushing singles yet, so is the label pushing the album back or is it Jay himself on some BS?

    • @CJonno90

With Detox they way past "build up some legendary hype for the album" now people are just sick of it. And also with Detox it looks like Dre is gonna get producers to producer his shit, people to write his verses & other artists on the songs to make up 2/3 of every damn song now that's laziness.

  • Anonymous

lol this 38 year old dude never eleased an album and never will. go find a job at mc donalds before the irs is coming at cha

Respect your elders. The one finding the job at McDonalds is probably going to be your adolescent self if you keep going the way you're going.

  • sam uk

Didn't expect to see a Charlotte Gainsbourg appearance, should be interesting. Anyway, i expect this to be constantly delayed. Look forward to hearing it i guess.

Isn't this the same chick from them Lars von Trier flicks? I didn't even know shortie got down on the mic like that. Good actor though, Antichrist was the cerebral Eli Roth torture-porn flick it was ok to like. Melancholia was cool too, but I didn't buy her character and Kirsten as siblings. Ms. Dunst certainly has a nice rack though.

these features throw me off then again he always throws me off and that's actually what i like one one hand, i'm like what? yeezy and diddy then i'm like - naw, he has never upset me thus far - it'll probably be crazy good at least i hope so if not ....

Even your name stands you out as a rapper that I wouldn't even want to hear. I might have a look at your album cover that nobody's ever going to think is nice but you. I wish you luck in the music industry, I can already tell if you rap about money and bitches and some idiots build you up a following, a label might one day pay you to act stupid and put out music that can be marketed for their success and your downfall. Nobody will like you properly but the label and they will milk you for every penny they can make off you. You're the moron who doesn't care and would be happy with that and thus I will never respect you on a higher level.

      @BLACK, yes.

    • BLACK

WHY SHOULD NO ONE DO ANYTHING ABOUT BLACK GUYS' AVERSION TO METAL??? WHY DO YOU GET TO DECIDE WHAT SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT BE DONE??? BECAUSE YOU'RE BLACK???

    • Doubl Negative

@Annonumous, your race is important and only a naive person would deny certain individuals have a predilection for certain types of music. It's the reason why when I'm at metal show, I'm the only Brother in attendance. Like it or not, most Black guys have an aversion to metal and no one should do anything to change this. People's cultural identity have been eroded in the past decade because the music scene has become generic and homogenous and regardless of class, ethnicity, class, gender people make the same insipid tunes. On the odd occasion, people, such as myself are an annomyly due to the music we listen to. The only problem is when Blacks think they have to listen to classical to appear more cultured or whites listening to rap so people think they're not bigoted. Before Jigga/Nas made music for gays, white girls and middle-class people, they catered to indigenous, street people and made their best music, so dude above me made a valid point.

  • KadafiThaDon

This isn't the original album. He's been saying that the album was completed in interviews as far back as late '10 early '11. So obviously Jay rejected the original just as he did with Cole, which as label head is his right. Remember signed artists don't get much of the cut from album sales. They get their money upfront in the form of an advance. The label recoups through album sales and a slew of other fee's applied to the artist. Point being, Jay made an investment so he wants to make the biggest profit as possible. That's where all these features come in I'm sure there weren't this many on the original. So no it's not going to be what it had the potential to be. Just as Cole was forced to come up with Work Out, Can't Get Enough, Nobody's Perfect(We all know those tracks aren't Cole at his purist), Expect Elect to have a couple tracks that make you say,"ahhh shit this nigga sellin out." But the reality of it is simple, if you don't give the label head what he wants, what he feels will be profitable, your shit will never see the light of day. Oh and just how are you gonna pay him back that fat advance he gave you??

    • On Point

Very much on point. Reminded me of his,"dumbed downed for my fans and doubled my dollars",line. Hov tryna sell records and if anyone needs to maybe dumb it down some it's Jay Electronica. Keep the same message but find a more simplistic way of getting it across. I don't mind but niggas ain't gonna spend time tryna decode this shyt.

  • Right On

I can't believe the hate from people towards this guy. Your all either just straight haters or your pissed that it's taken so long and if that's the case then go back to google or youtube and do some fucking research because Jay Electronica has at LEAST 63 GOOD songs out that he released FOR FREE WITHOUT A LABEL DEAL. If you love rap music and it's culture then you'd appreciate J.E. and you'd fucking listen to his lyrics and his music rather than his affairs or label or how long it's taken him to create a good album for you hip hop wannabe motherfuckers who don't deserve to listen to it.

we been waitin on this bum to put something out for a minute. Dude needs to go to an AA meeting and get sober so he can actually put something out.

    • Anonymous

I'm pretty sure all involvement from Jay Electronica has been put into this album. It's literally just the label being too pussy to drop it in case it flops. There are no singles or none of that shit so they don't know how to market this shit. I say drop it and let the fans find it rather than trying to put it in peoples faces. Besides can you imagine if "New Illuminati" was a single and they played that on the radio? I don't even wanna guess the content of that song to know it would never get airplay which is exactly what the label doesn't want.

    • Anonymous

lol his mom does put out, is jay really an alcoholic like dat though?

    • Anonymous

so does your mom...wait, she been putting out!

  • Anonymous

great...just what hip hop needed, another album packed with features. Wouldn't be surprised if jay elec came out and told us all that game is his biggest influence. Without the name dropping they seem like a perfect fit. Old school sound, packing their albums with features and of course the over hyping to no end by their fanbase.

    • Anonymous

There's what 11 features and most of them will be like verses and hooks which is to be expected from an album with a label on it. The big names are to get attention and come on, Jay and Ye are in the spotlights after that WTT came out so it's no surprise they're featured, people will click on anything if a name is there that they like... it's exactly why I took interest in this here article about Jay Elec's album. If you take out all the features and hooks and guests on this album, it'd still be a good percentage of Jay Elec verses and him rapping. Also being influenced by someone younger than you? no, you should be old enough and wiser and more mature and should know better... if Jay actually said Game influenced him I'd laugh and probably disregard anything else this guy has to say based on that because I think that'd be the dumbest influencing ever.

Why are Kanye and Jay-Z featured twice but no Nas?? People only know about this dude because people like Nas, and Just Blaze were co-signing him back in 07 or 08...Before these other dudes jumped on the bandwagon. He should show some respect.

    • Roc

Fuck you, you don't know shit about what's going on behind the scenes... maybe he didn't make a song that would fit a Nas feature, or maybe he didn't want to get killed on his shit

Its been 18 months, 15 days and 10 hours since Jay Electronica signed to Roc Nation. But today, the enigmatic MC finally released the tracklist to his long delayed album, Act 2: Patents Of Nobility. The chances of this seeing the light of day are probably slimmer than a Calvin Klein model, but we can dare to dream. Check it out below.
