Nelly stopped by Power 105’s The Breakfast Club earlier this morning, fielding questions about his relationship with Ashanti and Flo Rida biting his style. During the interview, Charlamagne Tha God called his musical career “cold,” to which Nelly calmly responded that careers have ups and downs.

“Oh, you think so?” he said. “I only had one record that didn’t have a number one record on. The last record I put out, I had a number one record. I sold five million records. Put out six singles.”

The St. Lunatic, who also spoke on his upcoming album M.O., acknowledged that the industry is a “young man’s game” and that it’s about staying relevant. “It’s definitely a young man’s game and it’s about survival. You get to a point where it’s just about turning pages. When you old not as in age, but old as in you been in the game for a minute, like 12+ years, it’s been a long time,” he said. “Nothing continues to excel. It’s called a career for a reason. You got your ups, you got your downs. But as long as you around, that’s the thing.”
