Curren$y In Talks With Ski Beatz, Dame Dash To Record "Pilot Talk III"

Curren$y also says he and the Cool Kids' Chuck Inglish want to record an LP together.

With his two EPs, Muscle Car Chronicles and his Warner Brothers debut The Stoned Immaculate all dropping in the past six months, Curren$y has made sure that his 2012 has been a busy one. Now, in a recent interview with AllHipHop, Spitta says he's looking to re-team with Ski Beatz and Dame Dash for a new Pilot Talk record.

Curren$y said that he's been in talks with frequent collaborator Ski Beatz and one-time label head Dame Dash for Pilot Talk III. Even though the past few months found Spitta and Dash at odds over money owed from the New Orleans emcee's previous efforts with BluRoc, he says that he'd want all original parties involved in the new installment.

"[Pilot Talk III] can happen, that can happen," he explained. "I talked to Ski [Beatz], me and Dame [Dash] talked, I'm talking [with them] because I wouldn't be able to do that without all parties involved in the first two…I wouldn't be able to do that shit, so everything would have to be ironed out on the up and up, and then we could do that shit."

Curren$y also spoke on another project he has in the works, Puff Daddy with Chuck Inglish of the Cool Kids. He said that both he and Chuck are completely dedicated to the idea of recording an LP together, but that they want to spend a significant portion of time perfecting it for a retail release.

"Me and Chuck are definitely going to do that [Puff Daddy project]," he said. "We just gotta rent a house like, on the beach or something and just get on some 'Entourage' shit and just bang that shit out in a minute. I've got one of the beats in my email already, and I've had it forever, there's just so much shit that's going on and I keep popping up and sporadically doing tapes, but that is a project we're going to sit down and really work on. We might have to go retail with that shit…Chuck is not gonna lend himself [that much time for free]. He's working, man…we'll probably do like 12, 13 [songs], try and pick some bread up."

The beats on Spitta's Warner Projects have not been up to par with what Ski Beats was doing on PT & PT2. MMC was not that good and it was done on DD172. Lyrically he's sharp as ever.Naturally the industry machine wants him to sell records, hence the more commercial approach and features on his latest work. Covert Coup is just as good as anything that he put out on DD172, except its not as long. He's doing right by doing him!

Dame should not do business with Curren$y. Dude showed his true colors with that lawsuit. How can you sue someone for releasing an album that you were promoting heavily? Dame, Ski, and the whole DD172 movement put Curren$y on. Curren$y had a lil buzz with his mixtapes (Tecmo Super Bowl, Fear and Loething, etc) but the labels were not knocking at the door. As soon as Dash put the money and marketing behind Spitta, he blew. If someone tries to say that Curren$y's buzz was hot before he got with DD172, you need to stop lying to yourself. Currensy's last two albums under Warner are average. PT and PT2 shit on those albums. Curren$y is regressing. If he was still with Dash, he would definitely be on another level. He knows that. Why do you think he is trying to have Ski and Dash involve with his next album. Dude made the wrong move now he is paying for it. BTW way Young Roddy > Curren$y

Warner Bros is not stated in the lawsuit so we cannot say the company was involved. If Curren$y allowed WB to pressure him into suing Dash, that was a lame move on Curren$y's part. This dude wanted 1.5 million. PT, PT2, and MMC didn't even sell 1 million records combined. I don't think Dash will fuck with Curren$y. I don't think Dash and Curren$y are talking. Dash won't benefit from a PT3 album. It will not be under BluRoc/DD172 umbrella so why would Dash and Ski invest time into an album that will not be exclusive produced by them. Also, why do business with a dude who just sued you 1.5. million dollar. He might try to throw another lawsuit at you after PT3 is release.

    • JET$

I agree that Curren$y should have stayed with Dame. He has definitely fell off a bit since signing with Def jm. I didn't really care for the tape with Styles P, Here or the Jet$ collab album. Stoned Immaculate was god but it wasn't mind-blowing like PT1 or PT2. Curren$y did have some momentum befor working wih Das. How Fly really took off and gave him and Wiz a ton of hype.

I agree he has taken a step back since he got with Warner Bros. When he was with Blu Roc everything he touched was golden. Now he is ok. Stoned Immaculate was ok but not his best work. Should have stayed with Dame.

    • Ash Motown

I wouldn't say that he is regressing but there is an artist freedom working with BluRoc versus working with Warner Bros. and he knows it. The lawsuit is really Warner's Brothers lets face it. Curren$y could give a damn about Muscle Car Chronicles real talk. But, BluRoc/DD172 should have known once he went to a major shit was gonna change. the Pilot Talk series is more artistic yes, and I feel that's the reason for all these EPs he has now been doing.
