Kendrick Lamar Says "good kid, m.A.A.d city" Will Be Unlike "Section.80"

Kendrick Lamar says his next album will be different from "Section.80" and explains Dr. Dre's involvement with his Aftermath debut.

As a member of Dr. Dre's Aftermath roster, Kendrick Lamar has one of the most anticipated albums of the year. Part of that also has to do with his critically acclaimed Section.80 project, released last year. However, the Compton emcee recently explained that his next album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, will be unlike his last release.

"I love the element of surprise," Lamar explained in an interview with GowhereHipHop. "I didn't want to do nothing the same way as Section.80. I always want to challenge myself and take it to the next level."

K. Dot also went on to discuss the co-signs he has been given from stars in the music industry, saying that it means a lot because he feels it is genuine.

"I love it just off the fact that they're genuine fans of the music," he shared. "Everything came organic. People would probably pay millions of dollars to get these people to back them but they just love my music...and they do it from a good space in their heart. I honor them for that. [Dr.] Dre, Lady Gaga, a few other big names. It's cool that they acknowledge the work because I put a lot of grind into this."

In prepping for the album, Kendrick Lamar has also recently released "Swimming Pools (Drank)."

People mad at him for changing it up.. but once he drops his new album they'll be back on his dick

I'm not surprised that Kendrick will do something new with his new album. Section.80 was a groundbreakingly new album. Of course his new album will be different. I can't wait till October 2nd.

  • God

People want his old shit then buy his old album. The man just said he wants to challenge himself so it should be lyrically appealing. Wait for him to drop the album, listen to it and then judge and that's fair.

Not sure why people would complain that this album will be different from Section 80. Why should Kendrick make the same album over again? Any fan of his knows this guy is a progressive artist and that's exactly what he plans to do.

Why are you people getting paranoid just because its not going to be like section 80?.. Who gives a damn! Don't you want to see him succeed? I think the album is gonna be dope just because its Kendrick.. The man can't stay in the minor leagues forever

Dumb fucks don't know what the definition of a sell out is... Kendrick gonna stay true to making quality conceptual music.

Kendrick makes dope music period but all u stans need to get up of his dick...

  • gobberpooper

Swimming Pools reminds me a lot of A.D.H.D, but more about himself than just his generation. The Recipe was fantastic, just a really fun but well done song. Cartoon and Cereal might be one of the most perfectly crafted songs I've ever heard, period. Every line was poetic and had multiple meanings and the whole song was fucking deep. If the rest of the album is half as good as that song, it'll be wonderful

  • R.I.P.

He just officially announced his selling out. "I honor them for that. [Dr.] Dre, Lady Gaga, a few other big names." Now he's gonna collab with lady gaga ?! R.I.P. Kendrick lamar, i was really looking forward to the album and hoped it'd be one of the best albums of 2012 but not anymore. it's sad cuz son had mad talents.

    • gobberpooper

The hell is wrong with you? So he can't even associate with anybody without being called a sell out? From what we've heard so far, this album will be on a whole other level. If Lady Gaga keeps tweeting about it, then more people will buy a fantastic album and hopefully overtake shitty Lil Wayne and bring this kind of hip hop out from the underground. Btw, Kendrick's already big. When Dre, Snoop, and Game come out on stage and crown you you're big. If he hasn't sold out by now he won't.

    • ETK

Lady Gaga and Kendrick are supposedly close friends, and maybe they're allowed to do something together without bitch ass niggas like you calling him a sellout before anything even fuckin happened All he said was Gaga loves his music, nothing about a collaboration.. so you also gotta learn how to read
