Donna Summer has passed away at the age of 63 years old.

According to TMZ, she was in Florida at the time of her death. The Queen of Disco had been suffering from cancer, and was trying to keep the gravity of her illness quiet. The site says that they spoke with someone close to the situation several weeks ago and that “she didn’t seem too bad” and was working on completing a new album.

The iconic performer rose to prominence in the ‘70s with hits including “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls” and “Last Dance. Her records were heavily sampled in Hip Hop. Tech N9ne and Beyonce sampled “Love to Love You Baby” for “Trapped in a Psycho’s Body” and “Naughty Girl,” respectively, while Nas and Royce Da 5’9 pulled from “Once Upon a Time” for their respective cuts “Street Glory” and “Something’s Wrong With Him.”
