All three of last week’s Rap-related debuts in the Top 200 were gone a week later. This past week, B.o.B.’ssophomore album surpassed early sales predictions and scored a Top 5 slot. Atlantic Records label-mate Santigold just barely snagged a Top 20 with her own sophomore, following a subtle name-change from three years ago. An otherwise docile week maintained the status quo for the most part, otherwise.

B.o.B.’s Strange Clouds Sells Over 75,000 First-Week Units

Following the gold-certified success of 2010’s debut album, The Adventures Of Bobby Ray, Decatur, Georgia’s B.o.B. made a strong first-week showing for his latest effort. Strange Clouds, which has been garnering mixed reviews in the media, mixes between Pop and Hip Hop, with appearances from Taylor Swift and Chris Brown, as well as T.I. and Playboy Tre. The effort moved offer 75,000 first-week units, scoring a #5 on the charts.

Santigold Returns Strong With Master Of My Make Believe

Electronic/Hip Hop vocalist Santigold followed up her 2008 acclaimed self-title debut. The Atlantic Records sensation scored her best performing chart position to date, following ’08’s Top 100 debut with a Top 20 showing in Master Of My Make Believe. The new effort features production with Q-Tip, following three years of feature work, including with Jay-Z, Beastie Boys and Lonely Island.
