Nas Continues NFL Draft Campaign With Verse In Commercial

"Where Are They Now?" will take on new meaning as Nas does another NFL Draft spot, rhyming about Andrew Luck and RG3.

Just days after Nas appeared on a remix to Gary Clark, Jr.'s "Bright Lights" for the NFL Draft campaign, the Queens, New York emcee is going a step further. New television commercials find the Def Jam Records artist rhyming about top draft prospects, including Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck and Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin, III.

The NFL Draft begins today (April 26) and will run through Friday (April 28) at New York's Radio City Music Hall.

    • HJ

God's Son and Distant Relatives were garbage! What are you talking about? And yeah Im very black. Da hell race got to do with the well known fact that Nas picks wack ass beats and tried to go left too much? Dont be such a fan that you are blinded, "my nigga".

I thought these commercials were entertaining. Not great or amazing, but saw nothing wrong with him doing these. He probably got a nice check and attended the draft and ate free food and drink all night. Can anyone tell me why that's such a bad thing? Who in their right mind would turn that down? You guys are acting like it's a sin to need to make money.

Nas is the most hated Mc! U think it's because he will Ether ur favorite rapper At any given day and ya haters kno it deep down? Lol

    • HJ

Nah thats not it. For me personally, it's because he don't live up to his full potential. He's a great rapper but he has always been off as far as his projects' cohesion with the exception of 3 albums. 3/10 is no bueno. And this is because he isn't loyal to the people who have helped him craft his greatest projects. Yall niggas just look at the Nas aspect, lyrically. And he is never not on point in that regards. But a PROJECT is more than a man's lyrics. He has the potential to put together several classic records. But it seems like Nas truly doesn't know how to craft a project. So to me personally, I feel like sometimes he wastes great lyrics on wack beats or wack concepts. I PERSONALLY hate the concept of this commercial because I know that he is doing it out of need. THINK ABOUT IT. He didnt say anything. So you can't say it's good exposure. If you are a 15 year old kid who doesn't know what Nas is about, that commercial did nothing to show you. So it was pointless from a publicity perspective. You can't say he is debuting a new song or trying to get new fans. Its was strictly about the check. And to me thats wack. If that was Drake or Lil Wayne, people would be fuming, calling it corny and selling out. Niggas make extra provisions for Nas when son continuously lets us (his fans) down. Now someone is going to say that Im hating lol. Even though I know Nas is THE greatest lyricist of all time. But the total package? You never know. Thats why dude disappoints me because after 20 years in the game, he still hasn't figured it out. Thats why he put out that HORRIBLE record from Hit-boy "Another black girl lost 2" because he has no clue and his management team (Emagen) has no clue. My bad. this is mad long. lol. Im just sick of people hating on the logic of why some of us fans stay disappointed.

"Anonymous idiots with no lives think its cool to hate a succeessful nigga who they cant touch in any shape or form in this life or thereafter" Nobody's hating on Nas the person, it's the fact he had millions and apparently didn't know how to manage it. That said, if he drops a good album I'm sure everyone will give him his just due. It's the fans that made this guy. Remember.

^^^ Art that takes imagination to appreciate is not the same as a physical stimulation from watching sports. Kobe's entertainment factors doesnt come from his stories. Nas' does. So a rapper's rep does suffer when they are doing something in real life that is the opposite of what they portray. Nice try but dumb example. Its the same thing with 50 and Game. They lost their appeal because they do much non-gangster stuff yet their image is gangster. If Drake started making tough guy music, it would happen to him too.

What da fuck does hes money have to do with his music!!! when i watch kobe play ball i dont worry about how much money he wife took!!! dont try to articulate what makes you a hoe ass nigga for worrying about his money!! it about the music that it!!

  • Big Mike

it starts from the deep seeded hatred black people have for themselves.. black people enjoy living in a alternate reality where people talk about ball so hard!!! when half the black man in the country are unemployed in jail or trying to start a label that will never leave the ground..when are fellow African are also in need of help they stole all of our natural resources example diamonds gold oil the list goes on!!!! thats like a nigga stealing your weight and selling it back to you for triple the price wake up my NIGGAS!!!!!! be proud of a black man that was willing to speak out on every album in the mainstream of music for his people and touch on real topic not BALL SO HARD!!! its ok to talk about balling sometimes but its important to touch on real topics as well..this mans last album was deep ass fuck and all you hoe ass dudes are worrying about how much money he has right now please wake!!!!

I can't front. I finally saw the Nas commercial and I instantly felt bad. When you are a vet in this game of Nas' caliper, you should be a BOSS by now. Commercial spots on ESPN is what up and coming rappers do, a la Wiz Khalifa last year with his black & yellow campaign. This grieves me. Nas is from the Golden era. Even Raekwon (who has probably made much less $$$ than Nas) is his own boss right now with the H20 label. smh.

    • Anonymous

Ha! There's no hate in anything that I wrote. But to a person like "Tbones" who can't see me and doesnt know me, yet you know where I live, I shouldnt expect you to able to read english or understand my point. Yall so used to reading hate that when someone says anything other than "Nas is god" yall think it's hate. Nas said like 2-3 lines about some random dudes. It was corny. Thats not even debatable. He didnt even say enough for it to be hot. Why did he do it? Because he needs exposure. FACT: He shouldnt have to do little spots on ESPN to create buzz. Creating Buzz is what people with NO FANS have to do. But Nas is one of the G.O.A.T.S. So to me, an ESPN spot where he say 1/2 bar is wack.

    • James

You can't stop people from acting like they know what they are saying. Just jealousy... And espn is a huge platform, Nas just wanted to have some fun and spit some rhymes about the draft. Stop hating

    • Tbones

Her goes the anonymous idiot again tryna put a negative spin on a Nas feature. U must be one sick in the head fella living a terrible life. Lol @ this moron talking abt bossing up yet leave in is grandma's basement.

really though hes flowing more like circa 96 on this than he is on the album so far.

  • wow

Nas will forever be blessed becuase of these words: "Youll actually evolve faster when you look to uplift, rather than judge those who seem to be struggling in life." Russell Simmons I never understood the hate that people display toward Nas. It seems to come from such deep rooted hatred. People are extremely obsessed with this Nas's personal life and seem to glorify in any negative gossip about him. Anything that Nas is involved in turns into a negative because no one seems to want to see him evolve or do anything slightly good for himself or anyone else. No matter what platform he uses to promote himself & his music people always make the comment "Nas needs the money." I find it rather pathetic to be this envious of a man you don't personally know.

  • real talk

If people paid more attention to their own money...Nas' pockets wouldn't interest them so much! Haters NEVER prosper & they will always try to find fault in someone else's accomplishments.

    • Anonymous

Yea 50 cent is biggest offender of this. I have never heard a cat more worried about how much other people have.

    • the don
