E-40 & Too Short "The History Channel" Tracklist & Cover Art

UPDATE #3: E-40 and Too Short link for a pair of albums dropping the same day.

While speaking with Vlad TV, California rapper E-40 revealed that he’s working on a joint project with fellow rapper Too $hort which will be titled E-40 & Too Short: The History Channel.
Aside from revealing the name of the project E-40 explained that it will consist of two different albums, one album will be geared towards their new school music while the other album will focus on old school music.
“First of all the album is called E-40 & Too $hort: The History Channel. We’re doing two albums. It’s two albums we’re dropping on the same day,” E-40 revealed. “$hort was before me so we both seen all the genres, different eras of music. So we got fans that loved the old school music and we got fans that love the new school music. So it’s called E-40 & Too Short: The History Channel. Function music which is for the newer era. So that’s a whole album full of nothing but function music. And then we got mob music and that’s just old school. The old school feel. We tryna make our fans feel like they used to on the mob music one.”
E-40 also spoke on being considered an underdog in music and shared that he chooses to embrace the underdog title.
“I consider myself an underdog, but I don’t care about that. I think it’s better to be honest with you. I like underdogs,” said E-40. “When I see a boxing match I’m like ‘Man, he the underdog. I want him to win.’ You know what I’m saying? Maybe that’s why [I’ve lasted] so long in this industry. If I would’ve just blew up overnight, sold 10 million records I probably would have been out the game. But God made it and he designed it like this and I’m gonna roll with it. This is my path.”
It’s unclear when exactly E-40 & Too $hort: The History Channel will be released.

  • 318 to The Bay

It's a shame Too Short didn't let JT The Bigga Figga get on this album. JT defended Too Short, when that other rapper was dissing Short Dawg. The song JT did was called "Take One" and it stopped all that disrespect toward Sheezy.

  • youngsta

i really can't wait to hear that song with tyga on it. tyga's gonna smoke these grandpas on their own song. lol

  • Anonymous

No Ja Rule? What's up with these bitch ass niggas not featuring the mighty RULE on their albums? Afraid of being outshined?

  • Anonymous

Took time out of their lives? lol This is their job, dumb fuck. Obviously they aren't doing it for free. I respect both their grinds, but Too Short is getting a lil old for this, and E-40 is burning out fast by throwing albums out there like he's dying or something. Slow down and perfect the music more, and just maybe the sales would reflect that.

  • djwicked

iight i peeped all tha comments, and its treal to say opinions are like assholes everybody got them, but these days tha average listener is not ya ordinary listener, take someone thats just a fan of e40 but not short,or vice versa, would still buy this album because they are fans of either or now someone whos not a fan of e40 and 2 short aint gonna support, just plain and simple but might listen if one of there favorite artists is on there but still just 99.9 percent chance they will buy it, these days there is something called the net so because of that most people will download for free because thats how people do, and they wont pay for nothing, just saying that you gotta give these 2 dudes congrats for putting an album together, whether you like them or not they took the time out their life to make music,so if you like it support or if you dont like it dont support, but whether hate or love, respect that there are still artists taking time out of there lives putting music out there for you to like or not like

  • Anonymous

as long as e 40 and 2 short have their own fan base, they will always be making music...honestly at first, i hated e 40, hated his weird flow, but then i heard some songs where he really brought it and let me tell ya, the nigga can bring it...he is one of those rappers that takes time to get into and he really grows on you..he may not sell millions of albums, but this guy really has a huge fan base from fans everywhere in the world, not just the bay area

  • Fuck Queens

Ja Rule = Geofrey from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

  • Fuck The Bay

Why are these stuck-in-the-past ass niggas releasing an album anyway??? Can't they see they ain't hitting no more?? And I ain't talking about record sales, I'm talking about QUALITY. Their music has been trash since 2000

    • 805'r

I'm from Cali. Not a huge Bay fan but gotta love too short and e40. For those that dont know. Bay Area Music is it's own Culture and the people up in the Bay are very prideful of it. They hustle hard and rep there own. They dont need to go main stream to make money and look down on other main stream rappers. I'm not a fan of much of their music but it is what it is. They dont need the rest of the country to buy their music to survive.

    • mrfloss(604)

I could care careless how many records u sell. If u do then u might as well listen to beiber or timberlake.Rap ain,t pop and these n****s r the farthest things from it. The thing is that ,the new mc,s don,t last for long and alot of them don,t do their homework. They need to study up on public enemy, scarface, rakim, ice cube, daddy kane, krs one and above the law.Nipsey , dom, gibbs and fiasco r tight though.

    • mrfloss(604)

Who the fuck do u listen to , (f da Bay), who do u think u r disrespecting two pioneers of westcoast and rap in general.Thats the problem wit cats nowadays , short attention spans and no respect for anything. There will be no rappers who could every dream of having as much influence and longevity as these two mc,s. Love them or hate them u have to respect them.

    • Anonymous

i dont really care if these guys sell 20 million albums in a week or 5,000 albums in a week...i also dont care if these guys are 8 month year old babies or 90 year old great grandfathers..if they make good music, ill listen to them..40 is a real man, and one of the reasons you might not like him is because he uses his own lingo "i may speak a different languange but i aint scottish, i got more friends in jail then i do in college"

    • Fuck The Bay

^ Can't stand the truth nigga?!? HUH??? ANSWER ME!!!

  • Anonymous

"If I wouldve just blew up overnight, sold 10 million records I probably would have been out the game" No you fat retard. You'd probably be a superstar instead of a regional hero.

  • YEBO

AND THE COVERS ARE GREAT. SUCH AN ARTISTIC COVERS WITH MILLIONS METAPHORS IN IT, IT'S LIKE DA VINCI'S PAINTINGS OF RAP. I'M JUST TRYING TO FIND HOLY GRAIL.

  • YEBO

THEY SHOULD GET WEEZY, GUCCI, WAKA, 2 CHAINZ, SOULJA BOY, JUSTIN BIEBER, NAS, LUPE FIASCO, AC/DC AND OTHER TALENTED ARTISTS ON THEIR PROJECT OR IT'S ALREADY A FLOP, I'M SORRY... BUT STILL THEY ARE MUCH BETTER GRANDFATHERS IN HIP HOP GAME THAN RAKIM OR SO.

  • Anonymous

"THE ROOTS R ON JIMMY KIMMEL" Good for their wallets, but doesn't change the fact that if they had sold more maybe better opportunities would have come along.

Eminem faded Ja, not 50, and since Ja has been back inside the big house, he's learned to let the past go and focus on the future. Has been today, presidential hopeful tommorow.

"Do you hear some metal dudes or rockstars still singing about satan who are 45 years old?" They call the devil by another name now. Mitt Romney.

  • Ja Rule

I really like all of your support but plese, hop off my dick.

  • Cop Feela

I agree, Ja Rule is the great rapper alive, dead, or zombie.

  • Old farts

Typical Too Short lyrics: suck my dick bitch, make money bitch, im a pimp, i pimp bitches, i fuck bitches. So great! 50 years old and still talking about hoes. And E-40 get rid of those riduclous glasses. It aint cool.

  • Charles

That function music cover looks dope as hell

  • Tizz

Man I'm excited this is coming out, E-40 is one of my favorite artists and Too Short has been someone I bumped a lot also. If it's anything like E-40's last albums it should be enjoyable. I must say though I'm not so much of a fan of this multiple album on the same day formula 40 been on these last few years. I love that he is supplying so much material (especially since he doesn't do mixtapes) but he should just make these as one double cd album. The true 40 fans buy all the discs (or mp3 albums) anyway so why put it out as two separate albums. It must be a numbers thing but either way I'm grabbing them

    • Anonymous

@ Tizz So why you're excited? These lame fucks been 45 years or something and still rapping about selling crack and pimping bitches? This is the problem with rappers they dont know when to retire. They just grow the fuck up! Do you hear some metal dudes or rockstars still singing about satan who are 45 years old? No! Why? They are adults now!

Ja Rule can record himself taking a shit and it will still be better than 99.9% of anything that's out right now. The other 0.1% is PIL2.

  • Anonymous

Ja Rule can do a remix to any E-40 or Too Short song and make it a billion times better. That's how great he is.

E-40 and Too Short may have released 15+ albums, but none of them are better than Ja Rule's universal classic, Pain Is Love.

  • Anonymous

These niggas don't hold a candle to the mighty Ja Rule. That's a known fact.

I hope they got a verse from Ja Rule on here.

hahaha! these grandpas acting like they're young and shit hanging out at a club. they're probably in the senior section with 50+ old strippers showing off their sagging wrinkly bodies. lol, and the other one looks like they're acting gangsta in a retirement home. these niggas need to stop before they embarass themselves. hang it up now before they become hip hop's next laughing stock.

  • SCHWARZ

There are albums that haven't sold that are good, but in terms of how you separate artists, you measure their sales/popularity. If those things didn't matter, then Billboard wouldn't exist. This site probably wouldn't exist. XXL. The Source. Countless rap websites ++++++++++++++ NAW JUST U WOULDN'T B HERE TRYIN 2 "SEPARATE ARTISTS" & WE COULD GET BACK TO THE MUSIC

  • Anonymous

"sales does not equal good music" So if we go back and look at the albums that sold close to or at least 1 million first week, are you going to argue that most of those sucked because they were being pushed onto the public?

  • T. Dolla

E-40 & Too $hort still out here doing it mayne! Can't wait for this album. They should have already been on vol. 5 tho..haha jk. But on some real shit you niggaz thats hatin' on these too Rap/Hip-hop legends need to wake yo game up. this is coming from the same niggaz that made "freaky tales" & "Captain Save a Hoe" that right there is a slapper from the 80s till infinity and thats a fact.

  • Bios

Only a hip-hop forum would you have so many people defending the argument that sales=quality. Outside of a pop music forum of course. And as wack as Vanilla Ice was as a rapper, he is still a better performer than most of the rappers in the mainstream right now. That's how bad things are at the moment

  • Anonymous

"Vanilla Ice sold 7 million, so I guess his album was one of the greatest huh?" Doesn't matter if his hits go down as some of the greatest, or if he was just a product of that time. Fact is, he sold millions, and was popular.

  • Anonymous

"album sells more that means its more popular and a better album than the rest" That's exactly what it means. Don't get it twisted. There are albums that haven't sold that are good, but in terms of how you separate artists, you measure their sales/popularity. If those things didn't matter, then Billboard wouldn't exist. This site probably wouldn't exist. XXL. The Source. Countless rap websites.

So by your logic, every album that went platinum is trash.

Cause for some reason if Too Short goes wood that's impressive, but Drake does 1.5 million, and suddenly the quality is poor, it's not rap, his voice makes it hard for you to concentrate in the bathroom.

"Do you know how many records Too Short has sold. 11 million" He's been around since 1983. Of course he's sold more. The better question is has Too Short ever sold 631,000 copies in the first week?

  • Anonymous

"The Block Brochure series had alot of filler" That's for sure. Even the beats weren't that good.

shut the fuck up Too Short is a legend and if he wants to rap until he is dead then why not. I rather listen to that then 2 chains and lil wayne. You know there are people in there 30's and 40's that still listen to rap.. Function was a dope song. Kid shut the fuck up and show some respect the pioneers of this shit. They started this shit and this the thanks they get...smh.

  • BRING LEVITTI BACK!!

Good idea but I still have a bad feeling that on the mob album there'll be autotune and sugar sweet modern r&b hooks. That wrecked a lot of songs on Block Brochure eg cutlass, This is the life etc. Needs to bring back the real hook singers and the vocoder.

  • anonymous

I dont think you can call any of his songs filler. He makes a ton of songs, experiments with different beats, and puts them out for his fans to buy. He works under a different business model than your average artist, who you as fans, sit and wait years for albums to be finished, only to build expectations up so high that it will never live up..and so on.. he just makes his music. he continues to give fans music to listen to, without all the publicity stunts, arrests, beefs and arguments (in fact, if you notice, every other artist gives him credit and no one messes with him). Its just a different model completely. He has a following of fans that will continue to buy his music and enjoy it. I have seen this guy do the same thing for many years, rising above all the bs that other artists create for themselves, bought himself a house on the hill, put his kids in the nicest area possible, and at the end of the day, his music is love it or leave it! Respect where due though..

  • Alf Capone

i lost respect for e-40 when he was doin all that hyphy bullshit

    • luke

We still Hyphy out here boi! And whatever you think Hyphy is.......its not. Unless you live in northern california, you WILL NEVER understand, plain and simple Tupac started that hyphy shit in Oakland and it spread like a wildfire. its in our bloodline bitch

  • blitzlegga

If this album is ever done and if it ever sees the light of day, i'm pretty sure it will go down as the wackest album ever made.

  • Jacc

Shit, E-40 always had my respect. I mean, this brother dropped 3 albums in the same day. That's like, 60 songs. He ain't giving a fuck about other shit, he's all about music. I don't care what nobody says, he's one of the G.O.A.T. to me

    • Tizzlybear

Word Fam!! E-40 is one of my favorites of all time also. He stay consistent he's experimented with new sounds but nothing that strayed too far from his core. I bought all three albums of The Block Brochure as well as his last two double album sets. I got all of his albums minus Mr. Flamboyant and the greatest hits album (no point since I have all of them LOL plus I can make a better compilation of songs I like from the collection on my computer)

Gotta hand it to E-40. He more than gives his fans new music. The Block Brochure series had alot of filler, but it was still pretty good.
