Source Close To Mobb Deep Says They Will Never Release Another Album

A source close to the duo says that fans shouldn't expect another LP from them.

Following Havoc's alleged Twitter rant against Prodigy and subsequent denial of its authenticity, a source close to Mobb Deep has revealed that Prodigy and Havoc will not release another album.

According to XXLMag.com, the source, who works closely with the Queens, New York duo, says that the pair has been on dicey terms since Prodigy's release from prison late last year. Supposedly, 50 Cent offered P a solo deal on account of Hav's problems with alcohol abuse.

"While he was up there, 50 Cent came to visit a couple times,” the source said. “And 50 had came to him and said, ‘Listen, man, when you come home, I wanna sign you as a solo artist. I’m gonna give you a $500,000 advance check, but I’m not fuckin’ with Havoc because Havoc has been dealin’ with alcohol issues for years. Since you’ve been in jail, he’s checked in to rehab a few times.”

After P got out of jail, Havoc said he had been confronting his alcohol problems and was ready to start working again. But he still struggled with his drinking issue. The source cites one instance where he spent $20,000 at a casino, but didn't remember the next day. "He forgot because he has these little blackout moments when he’s drunk—that he spent all the money gamblin’. He accused Prodigy’s manager [of] stealin’ the money out of his account. So he knocks on Prodigy’s door, he smacks Prodigy across the face, Prodigy wrestles him down, beats him up a little bit. After, he remembers that he was gamblin’, so he comes back to Prodigy and apologizes and all that. But at this point, Prodigy is already tellin’ me and my other friend, ‘Yo, this is the last Mobb Deep tour. When I get back to New York, I’m gonna disappear. I’m not fuckin’ with H no more.’"

When the pair returned from SXSW, the source says that Prodigy maintained his attitude towards his partner-in-rhyme. "When he got back to New York, Prodigy kept his word,” said the source. “He stopped takin’ Havoc’s calls. He wanted to be out that whole situation. [...] To be honest with you, there’s 120 percent certainty that there will never be another Mobb Deep album again. [...] How do you come back from that?”

Sensaye - Mad respect? He dropped them after one album lol Fiddy doesn't respect anybody. He didn't realize that Mobb Deep had already achieved platinum long before he came around. Fiddy boasted he could make them go double platinum, but in the attempt, messed up their chemistry.

Now this explains why Havoc has been talking shit on fuckin twitter nowadays...

are you dumb? Havocs Kush solo is classic. same with that hidden files. listen to ''heart of the grind'' by havoc. mobb aint over fuck heads. this is bullshit. if it aint its shit that can get sorted out.

    • Tz top

kush a classic? fuck no. shit was alright. hidden files was ASS. like 2 decent songs. havoc is washed up man. everybody likes to say p fell off, but p fell off and kept making good music. his solo catalog is sick. havoc fell off and turned into dead weight. havoc coming off like the loser here, diss was on his twitter page, he called in to a radio station and made it worse. now this story comes out. hav is looking like the loser here, not prodigy. keep ya head up p keep dropping good music. hopefully hav clears up and gets his head out his ass but the man has done a lot of damage the past week. if i'm prodigy friends for over 20 years and all that, i still have a problem linking back up with hav after this. anybody dissing mobb deep needs to jump out a window. classic albums, classic group. nothing can change that. now go back and listen to your big sean album and keep talking that mobb been wack for 10 years talk.

  • Anonymous

Damn havoc better get yourself together Everybody basically saying FU just because last albums is wack. Fake fucks

  • vic

explains why havoc is running his mouth on twitter then hiding his hands. talking shit online drunk as fuck and calling in to radio stations to say it wasn't him when he sobers up. prodigy doesn't need havoc anymore. sorry but havoc has been dead weight since return of the mac. havocs beats arent what they were. his raps got boring. prodigy still has alchemist and sid roams, he'll be fine. havoc? i don't know what he's gonna do. no one checks for havoc solo, and no one's really dying to pay him for beats either. havopc used to be such a dope producer but he lost his sound and now apparently has lost his mind. i don't know if yall can relate but when you got an old frined that's always drunk and you're not and you make money together and you need to be able to count on this person, it weighs you down. p got his shit straight. he's fit and his health is good and he sounds better than he did going into prison and he's hungry to work. havoc is in the same place he was. beats aren't hitting like they were, raps aren't wowing anyone, and he was waiting for p. sad day. old friends cross cuz of money. shit is wack. RIP mobb deep classic group with classic albums. looking forward to a new prodigy solo.

Best hiphop news this year. Old rappers must stop and dont think that they are hot anymore and keep making the same album over and over again. The Mobb fell of after 1999. I also think because Prodigy is gay he will sign with Cash Money Records because thats a gay label

    • Anonymous

@ Anonymous: and mr porter eat a dick. i was there in the period 1995-1999 you guys were just babies so dont talk shit about culture dumbasses. And black cocaine is garbage so eat a dick. you teen age internet gangsters

    • Mr Porter

Bitch you crae! Black Cocaine is hard as fuck. My niggas fucking with Nas again, Havocs beats are violent once more. Only thing you said that was true is the Cash Money comment. Them niggas is gay.IMD for life nigga!!!

I can tell you're ignorant and know nothing about the culture...That's why you posted anonymous. You need your ass kicked.

  • Vagabond

I don't understand where the legendary status is coming from with these guys. Maybe some will agree maybe some won't. Duos that are as good and/or better than mobb deep ( excluding dj - rapper combo): Outkast, Epmd, ugk, heltah skeltah, group home, camp lo, 8 ball mjg, dogg pound, smif n wessun, and maybe someone can think of a few more. And prodigy as a solo artists cmon folks we can easily name 30 mc's with more lyrical prowess. Mobb deep had a nice run in the 90's . 3 very good albums one of which can be argued as a classic. But these guys ain't legends. Relax.

    • Mobbbbbbb Deep Fuccs Wit U

Niggas is like 40 years old or something and still making Gangsta shit. Leave Gangsta rap for the youngstas and make some more relevant shit, Mobb Deep.

hell on earth, the infamous, murda muzik 3 certified classics that changed the sound of ny hiphop then the work they did on the war report.

    • Mr Porter

Bitch you crae too! Steve Rifkind had all of the most pivotal MCs on Loud Records in the nineties. For you to say that IMD didnt change the fucking game is preposterous! The Infamous album changed the soundscape of hiphop forever. Hell on Earth, Murda Musik, even the Free Agents mixtape album hit hard as hell. You dont know shit bitch. And I put that on the four pounder.

    • Anonymous

BLACK COCAINE was classic Mobb Deep! That song with Nas was crazy! Nas' The Don is crazy too! This is a bad day for hip hop.

    • Anonymous

Hell On Earth and Murda Musik are definitely classics. And you wanna talk about them growing up? Where were you when they released Infamy? That was them maturing on another level...but you were probably one of the fans bitchin cause they changed their style. MOBB DEEP is legendary and if you don't know...you just don't know hip hop. And most of the "duos" named were really fuckin bad.

    • weqq

95-00 Mobb's influence on NY Rap is legendary!!!

    • 720to225

Clipse and ABN are also both hands down better than Mobb Deep, I'm not hating on cats, but was anyone really feeling that black cocaine shit they dropped?

    • MOBB DEEP FAN 1995-1999

@ Vagabond: you fucking right and im a mobb deep fan. They made 3 dope albums in the 90s and thats it. Besides what moron of 40 years old is gonna rap about coke and killings. They should grow the fuck up.

    • dazeone

ahead of Rakim...Biggie and Scarface...you tripping

    • Anonymous

The fact you have Jay-Z at #8 and Prodigy ahead of him, shows you are letting your emotions get in the way of what is real.

    • Vagabond

You must know prodigy personally to include him in your all time mc's list. The 6 you listed under him are by far better than prodigy. The niggas k.o.l. named that ain't on your list are way better than prodigy too. When did mobb deep become the upper echelon of hip hop? Someone fill me in. 3 very good albums. I can argue the infamous being a classic. That's it. Goes no further with them. Why people can't see that they just another group who had a good run in the 90's. You can't tell me heltah skeltah don't rhyme better an mobb deep

    • Anonymous

prodigy, if u include the whole 20 years of music, is better than kool g rap, in my opinion. Dont get it twisted, I love kool g rap. But kool g Rap, Big daddy Kane and rakim, had their reign from 87-93.. Thats only 6 years. mobb deep came out with infamous (let's not count juvenile hell) in april of 1995, and six years later (to compare to span of g rap, kanye and rakim) insted of being washed up, they were still releasing classics like quiet storm and keep it thoro. We can agree to disagree, but P had hot songs from 1993 til lets say 2007 with return of the mac. g rap didnt have a hot album 14 years after his debut. if u go song for song, line for line. prodigy kills g rap. just my opinion.

    • Anonymous

p is fare form a god mc, Rakim

the only niggas that came up later that could be up there: DMX, Eminem, Styles, Jada, Beanie Sigel, 50 & Kanye.... what counts is niggas cataloge not one mixtape few verses or number 1 hits

You don't think any rappers that've popped up in the last 15 years deserve a spot?

    • K.O.L

what i wanted 2 say is that prodigy dont get the respect he deserves... he is in my top 5

this is the perfect publicity stunt.they have noting if the group is no more ^ smh @ you Prodigy been working with 2 different producers for years. Havoc can sell beats to anybody looking for that early Mobb sound. Face reality.

  • kennyken

50 should be the 3rd leg of mobb deep. he's a fake fuck infiltrating these dudes. these dues grew up on the playground together. i don't care, if i have a brother i grew up with like that, i'm on his side. he's going through bad times man, can't people grasp shit like that? damn...50 is a macaroni nigga, m-pasta, imposter

    • kennyken

@Koollie, dude that's why niggas need to make their own comments and keep it moving. first you don't know what color i am. and after this post, i think you will. see i don't scare away from nothing. i walk through a hood proudly young assed fuck. and walk in the burbs proudly as well. what the fuck do you know about that? huh? i want to make a smart remark about you so bad, but that wouldn't be good enough for me. man all i gotta say is you are probably a white dude. shut the fuck up. and you don't know nothing about hiphop either. you talking to a true o.g. that has left the hood you fucking whiskey sour.

Man are made bitches these days smh. Gossip hoe think he knows somebody gtfoh. go play with barbie kenny fag

    • kennyken

your comment is blatant you damn fool. if i say 50 infiltrated, then he did...get the fuck off of the internet you mother of 5 children

    • Anonymous

Your ignorance is blatant. Stop acting like a juvenile and see that your favorite rap duo had an internal problem you didn't know about until now. Rapers in the limelight are still flawed human beings.

  • KE

It's about fucking time! The Mobb should of retired back in 2001 when they dropped the TERRIBLE "Infamy" album.

  • 1love

Honestly i prefer prodigy going solo havoc's voice is kind of annoying.

  • Vagabond

As fans we have a right to feel that way. I'm not gonna be loyal to you if your last good album was in 99. Just listen to first 3 albums ( excluding juvenile hell) and call it a day

  • Vagabond

Should we give a fuck? Last good album was murda muzik. And for those who say prodigy was one of the best mc's or is please stop. He's always been average with only a few "wow" verses in his career. Sounds good with havoc and alchemist prouduction. He's been consistently average. Not too many wack verses or great verses. Even when mobb deep was hot there were plenty rappers spittin better than him. Him and havoc make a great combo together and compliment each other well to make good music. But people actin like its a sad day in hip hop and all that gimme a break. After murda muzik everything they did has been trash

    • Mr Porter

Bitch you still talking shit. Listen to the Free Agents album. Both disc asshole. Mobb aint dead yet. And the Black Cocaine album is puttin that violent shit back on the map. Fuck faggots!!!

    • Vagabond

Im not fickle. The consistency in their music is. When did mobb deep become legendary? I didn't see niggas drawing mobb deep logos on their back packs back in the day like wu tang. They not spoke of by any new artists as a group they look up to. Infamy really? It was infamously garbage for mobb deep standards. That nightmare album was just that. Guess I'm not a mobb deep fan for not lettin them ride with wack material for over 10 years.

    • Anonymous

You already exposed yourself as being a fickle fan. It is a sad day for Hip Hop, a legendary crew seems to be no more. Your opinion is entitled but your perception does not speak for all. As they say, do you.

    • PAPI

NIGGAS SAY THEIR LAST ALBUM GOOD ALBUM WAS MURDA MUZIK BUT I LOVED 'INFAMY & AMERIKAS NIGHTMARE'... BLOOD MONEY WASNT THAT GOOD BUT STILL HAD SOME JOINTS! IF U DINDT FEEL NOTHING AFTER MURDA MUZIK THEN U NOT A REAL MOBB FAN, CAUSE THEYVE DROPPED ALOT OF GOOD SHIT SINCE THEN

  • remaster

    at least he apologized

  • Smurf

Two pussy fake gangsta beefing with each other. This should be funny. 50 Cent is a real mobster.

    • Mr Porter

How are you saying 50 is a real gangsta and your moniker is Smurf??? Dont you know that Bangum Smurf told the whole world that 50 was a bitch. The nigga he grew up with. Get off 50 dick. Unless you like riding him as much as he loves you doing it faggot.

  • Anonymous

they'll be back... a duo like Mobb Deep won't stay seperated for long

  • tigerking

I'm a big Mobb Deep fan, but there days have been pretty much over for about ten years now. Prodigy did so much coke, that he totally fucked up his flow from when he used to be one of the best MC's in Hip Hop. On the other hand I don't see why havoc have alcohol issues would permanently break up the duo, with all of prodigy's coke abuse and jail time. But this should come as no surprise, seeing that 50 Cent pretty much instigated the whole thing. 50 Cent, now that is one motherfucker that fell off hard. When was his last good album, back in 2003 with get rich or die trying. Ever since then he has been singing on records like a bitch.

    • Freshme

Shut up kol, u'r boring, stop thinking u know everything. He's not a legend, nop, he didn't do anything for the rapgame. He's just another bisnessman who was a rappeur. He's fake

I think Prodigy has "I went to prison, now I'm a changed man and you must change with me" syndrome Happened to my uncle, he went to prison for Dope dealing, came home 4 years later and started preaching to me about smoking weed and finding christ and shit, lol

  • Up North

I'm trying to not believe any of this, but, I keep going back to when Hav was drunk as shit dissing Kanye on camera, and then made an apology shortly thereafter. Hopefully if he's got issues, he gets that shit addressed. Mobb is one of the greatest duos ever in Hip Hop and it would be tragic to see it fall apart this way.

  • Sensaye252

Hip-Hop fans are the most ungrateful cocksuckers on earth, I swear. You don't see any other culture that just totally shits on their legends like Hip-Hop fans do. A group or a MC could drop 20 classics in a row, if the 21st album isn't as good, it's "fuck these niggas, I hope they retire and jump off a cliff and die". Bunch of spoiled shit heads. I don't know these niggas personally, so I won't speculate on what's going on their personal lives. All I know is since I was 12 years old recording songs off the T.V. with my tape recorder, these niggas were puttin' out ill shit. Every grown man goes through struggles in their life. Who the fuck are you to judge these niggas and act like you're on some pedestal where you can condemn them for not being perfect human beings. All I hear is "P is a pussy", "They suck anyway", "They should retire". Well, what the fuck have you done? You niggas sound like Skip Bayless. Quick to negatively critique everyone else but if you were put on trial for your character, you'd be fuckin' humiliated.

Please someone, put a cap in this negro, he lost it, the backstabbing snitch bitch.

  • Truth Hurts

That story sounds 1000000% ACCURATE...I always knew he had an issue with drinking....And this confirms that the tweets were one of his drinking "blackouts"....P didn't mess with men in jail at all...Havoc has been exposed.

  • The start of the ending....

I think the drink definitely improved Havoc's rhyme game.. He dropped a few hot mixtapes in the last year. As for P smacking up Hav... LOL I don t think so.

It doesn't make a bit of difference if they put out another album or not? Who's really checking for Mobb Deep nowadays?

  • thafranchise

The funny thing is you have to realize that HipHopdx is a website, so they always have some bullshit news that they have to put up to keep tracffic coming to the site. Not saying this is not a possibility. Until P or Havoc confirm this then I will not believe this story. A source close to Mobb Deep. lol

    • Anonymous

It's real all the evidence and events point towards it. Prodigy's response being to the tweets i'm not here to beef, voice saying the same stuff as the tweets, Havoc calling in not even denying all the gay shit about P, Him changing stories about where he lost the phone, Power 105 telling him he got drunk and went on a rant and now this guy who is apparently close to them is just reinforcing everything we already know including the alcohol thing. It's all to much to be a coincidence though there's no confirmation more then enough proof supports that all this is real and H must have blacked out again and realized his mistake once he sobered up. Now the stuff about P we need more evidence but I believe what H was saying I have reasonable doubt but I suspect what H said about P in jail is true which is also supported by P's one sentence I don't want to beef response to H. How can someone besides someone close to P know some of the things mentioned in the tweet? It's clear what's going on.

  • Anonymous

Im hoping this ain't true if so hav has to get his shit straight. Being an ex alcoholic myself I can tell people its not easy to quit but it can be done. But this is something they can handle between themselves they don't need 50s snake in the grass ass in their issue.

    • Anonymous

Not true once you beat that crave for the shit and have not care for it either I mean straight to where theres not a chance of relapse your an ex alchi. Thats just.... damn

It was common knowledge that H had a drinking problem. People make out Prodigy to be such a pussy (he kinda is) but he doesnt seem like that bad a guy. He gets a bad rep sometimes in my opinion.

  • Blasthoro!

They were dead career-wise when they signed to G-Unit. They best albums were The Infamous and Murda Music. HNIC was also good as well as The Free Agents mixtape...

i cant believe this shit! FUCK!

  • Anonymous

Prodigy has Alchemist as a replacement, I would be surprised but I'm not feeding into it until I hear officially

  • Anonymous

sounds like the end of an era, at least we have D4L and Franchize Boyz to fill in the void

    • fuck

  • Alf Capone

ive been avoiding commenting on these mobb deep articles cuz i dont know how true any of the shit is but if this shit is true i hope hav can get his shit together

  • K.O.L

I BELIVE THAT THAT WAS REALLY HAVOC TALKIN RECKLESS BOUT P, PRODIGY TALKED ABOUT HAVS ALKOHOL PROBLEMS IN HIS BOOK! HAVOC BEEN STRUGGELING WITH DEPRESSION SINCE HIS LITTLE BROTHER DIED! SO WHO KNOWS!? I STILL HOPE NOT CAUSE THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST DUOS IN HIP HOP!

  • emankoadi

i can't believe this shit. so much things happened last time, I don't want my favourite raps Duo to get destroy. damn

  • Anonymous

    i hope it's a fake

  • Sensaye252

And suddenly it all makes sense. Q-Tip said Havoc used to wake up in the middle of the night and drink a fifth of henny. Then wake up in the morning and bust down a .40, and that was almost 20 years ago. Imagine how much that shit has worn him down by now. It's too bad. He was a great producer in his prime, and he really changed the sound of East Coast Hip-Hop. P is still a nasty MC. Nothing will ever touch the early Mobb classics, but with Alc and Sid Roams doin' his beats, he'll be alright.

  • karen

This shits fake. And havoc is a beast on production. shits on 99.9 percent of people.

  • Mr Flamboyant

(to the nigga below) Eat a dick, you simple minded bitch. To the crux of this ordeal... Damn. Well it seems the twitter rant and recording is definitely all the way real and Havoc is really on some other shit badly with his alcohol abuse. Sad. Very sad. Alcoholism is most definitely real. I remember Havoc had issues with it well over time and it seems that it has just grown out of control. I know a cat personally who qualifies in this same behavior. Dude even had to be banned from being a part of life and we were dogs, thick and thin. But it's only enough you can deal with and be bothered until you just leave cats be. Oh well. Havoc has to mature, man up, and get his shit together. Give us a damn Prodigy and ALC LP and I'm good anyway. Hate to say such but hell it's true. Hav's been slippin' up for too damn long and Al is the superior producer now anyway. Sad cause I'm listening to The Infamous on my iPod before I saw this... Damn.

  • WU TANGG

If this is true then this is truly a tragic day to hip hop, the mobb are the greatest duo of all time lets just hope this aint true. INFAMOUS FOR LIFE

I knew you were a troll but are u fucking fried? Were talking rap DUOS IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY RAP OR NOT. Luniz has 3 albums, Pete Rock spit he may not have done it as much as he did later in his career but he still rapped. Dogg Pound are u serious? Tha Dogg Pound is to the west what Mobb Deep is to the east. One member is a dope producer who raps a little bit and the other is the lyrical one. LOL you don't know shit.

    • Alf Gang

The luniz had like 1 album...smh...Eric B was not a rapper. smh again. The dogg pound was really not a duo, sure they were headed by daz and kurupt, but there was lady of rage etc.smh at all you failures. and pete rock really didn't emcee back then, he did after the fact, but they were not an official rhyming duo...ALL FAILS!!! Except for the Outkast reference.

    • Hopit

      What about UGK?

    • Anonymous

What about Pete Rock & CL Smooth or Gang Starr?

    • Anonymous

What about Tha Dogg Pound or Luniz?

    • Anonymous

  • Anonymous
