Among this year's April 21 specialties will reportedly be a Rhymesayers Entertainment three-sided single featuring unreleased material and a special audio story.

This year's Record Store Day is April 21, 2012. In honor of the retail holiday designed to benefit music recorded on vinyl as well as independent retailers, a number of limited edition releases have been announced. Among those, Rhymesayers Entertainment (according to the official Record Store Day site) will release a 10" featuring Atmosphere as well as The Uncluded (Aesop Rock and Kimya Dawson).

The vinyl piece, said to be limited at 1,500 overall pressings will reportedly feature unreleased material by both RSE acts, as well as an audio version of "A Poop Story," told by Atmosphere's Slug.

Wow, the music industry is totally fucked up. What is wrong with these people...Record Store Day??? Come on, record stores were nothing more than middlemen who cut into margins. Digital distributors such as iTunes take a much smaller cut of the sales revenue. The music industry should really stop focusing on putting out an album. An artist should only want to put a full-length album out if he has buzz from several singles. Then you know the entire album will move units. The record executives obviously don't listen to or purchase music. If they did, the old model would have been extinct a few years ago.

Trust me, it has very little to do with record executives. This event was created by independent stores across the country. These are people who support the music in their communities and it's a way for bigger artists to give back to them by offering exclusive merchandise.
