Young Guru Talks Jay-Z's New Solo LP, Says "Watch The Throne 2" In Consideration

Young Guru gives a few details about Jay-Z's next album and says "Watch the Throne 2" is a possibility for the future.

Complex recently caught up with Jay-Z's go-to studio engineer Young Guru to talk about the Brooklyn legend's future projects. Although Guru kept tight-lipped about Hova's twelfth solo LP, he did mention that the project will follow a tightly focused concept that will surely please his fans.

"Jay-Z is always working on stuff, it’s a concept that I can’t talk about but I’m marveled at how smart this guy is," he noted. "When he told me the concept, I was like ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ It was just so simple. It’s not a concept album though. It’s not like American Gangster, it’s not a Beatles concept album. It has a concept and a title, and the title and the concept fit him so well that people are going to be like ‘Wow.’"

He added, "The simplicity of the title and the concept that it conveys is incredible...I can’t tell you the title, it’s so good it’s like, ‘Oh my god why didn’t I think of that? What made you think of that and why haven’t we done that before?’ It’s just staring us in the face all these years, we could’ve been put that out as an album concept."

Guru also spoke on the possibility of a sequel to Jay and Kanye West's widely successful collaborative album Watch the Throne. Although there has been no confirmation as to whether the Roc Nation and G.O.O.D. Music impresarios would link up for a second album, he said it's definitely in consideration. For the time being, however, he said that Jay and 'Ye are focused on their respective solo and G.O.O.D. Music compilation LPs.

"It's definitely a serious consideration. Hasn’t been underway yet but definitely serious consideration. Has been talked about but hasn’t been executed yet. Definitely could happen," he explained. "A lot of artists just say shit too but if you think about it, this is just my opinion, the way I would like it to go - I would like Kanye to do the G.O.O.D. Music album and Jay-Z to do a solo album then they go out and tour and do all that shit and then next year, or the end of the year, we get Watch the Throne 2. To me, that would be the best thing to happen. I think the G.O.O.D. Music album is necessary for Kanye to establish that brand because they need to establish [themselves]."

Jay and Nas fans have something in common: Both groups can't keep the name of the artist they claim to hate out of their mouths. When will people learn to appreciate both of these great rappers? When will you let that battle go like Jay and Nas did 6 years ago?

This guy was giving feed back on blueprint3 before it came out and the album was very soft, quiet a sudden diverge in style and direction, which did alienate some of his core fans

Article was cool - nothing I take issue with. Comments section though; wow. Ya'll must drink a lot of tap water because the levels of estrogen are off the scales up in here. I could state a whole slew of facts but I will keep it simple. A lot of you are born losers and you will die losers. You don't do what it takes to become a winner even when you are given a blueprint for success. Instead you hate the person who provided you with it. You hate knowledge and intelligence even if you have some because you don't put it to use to appreciate it. You project your own sense of worthlessness on successful people and then get upset when they don't fail at life like you do. You are pathetic because no matter how right or wrong they are they still are living up to their potential while you are all the way at the bottom glaring upward. You're sad.

"When KRS already made an album called Blueprint" hah classic I bet its King or... Ready to Die Me Against the Wolrd Or Paid in Full

    • Anonymous

"You can't get mad if you say number one, you put out a record and then Jay-Z puts out one," KRS said in an interview. "That's honor, that's respect because you call yourself the teacher. If I put out the first Blueprint, and then Jay-Z decides to name his next three albums The Blueprint, you can only look at that as respect in hip-hop and it actually signifies the unity of hip-hop all together...you could compare this all the way across the board [with other rappers]. You're finally getting to see hip-hop's culture, not the rap music industry. Ask yourself this question too, with all the money that Jay-Z has, why does he still have to rap? Why does he still have to rap? He has to rap because he is hip-hop. He is the culture himself..." KRS-One. Swallow that, you fucking bitch. Kurtis Blow had a song that was named ''If I Ruled The World''. And Nas got the concept for ''I Gave You Power'' from ''Stray Bullet''. Let's take a look at another line from the most overrated diss track of all time: ''You traded your soul for riches'' What did the bitch do after he said that? Exactly, he signed to his arch enemy, the guy that fucked his baby mother, not only that but to the label he called an ''Evil Empire''. Nas is a spineless motherfucker, just like all his fans.

its obvious. The album title is D.E.V.I.L. and the songs are going to be about the different ways to worship the devil.

Watch The Throne was just My Beautiful Dark Fantasy 2 featuring Jay-Z.

  • Obviously

It's gonna be called "Shawn" or "Shawn Carter" taking it back to the pre "Jay-Z" days before all the fame. It's gonna be like an autobiography of his life before the wealth.

You have to be fucking retarded. Nas won the battle music-wise, but Jay went on to drop nothing but number 1 album, got even bigger, broke several records and released the biggest hits of his career. Kill yourself, you fucking idiot.

I wouldn't be surprised if this next album is about Jay-Z's relationship with former Chiefs running back Larry Johnson.

  • Tdw40

  • Kaz

Whay Jay-Z needs to do is link up wit Eminem and make the collab of all collabs and make big hip-hop history. Two real MC's together to rescape the rap game to what it should be. Lyracism, quality rhymes, great production and NO POP GARBAGE!!!

  • jr88

SMH, at the comments below me, obviously there is ignorance and plain out fucking retarded and these 2 showcase both. Jay Z made Kanye who he is today. Not beats wise, but the business mogul that Kanye is today. Jay Z has become disliked because of all the Illuminati speculation, but nobody cant deny that Jay Z got skills. He has a number of classics under his belt, every one of his albums have went platinum. He makes good music. I agree with what he said about doing solo albums before another WTT2, but at the same time I would like to hear a WTT2, cuz the first one was a great album. And young Guru did his job because now I will be looking out for that Jay Z title lol even though he is hyping it up, he got my attention so I guessed it worked.

    • ETK

of course, this sucka has to come with his sense of superiority and make his presence.. I half expected that why you wastin time with "little bitches", fam. move on, fruit

    • Anonymous

@ the little bitches below, Do you know how lame you both sound right now? It's so amusing to read posts by grown as men arguing back and forth about which artist is hot and which artist is wack. You guys are so lame it's not even funny. Little bitches

    • ETK

Then maybe I should buy a god damn megaphone for ya. So I can shout I DONT LIKE NAS THAT MUCH. Holy fuck, are you that dude seeing three comments of somebody on a Nas article and assumes he dickrides him? For the 1000th time I just respect him, I have a problem with these TMZ niggas going on and on about his money problems like it fuckin matters. If someone says jay's better than Nas will I give a fuck? No! Stop bringing that up you pretentious monkey

    • Takeover

ETK, what are you doing? That reverse shit you are trying to pull off here is NOT working. The funny thing is, you're doing this after people shitted on you for dickriding the human L so offensively. Ridiculous. The same applies to you, Flameboy. You two are the first in line to cry when people shit on your hero Nas. I guess you two are his personal dickriding brigade? Get a life, you fucking clowns. Nas doesn't care about his stans. His fans are the scum of the earth. Now they're trying to callout other people for the same shit they do on all the pages that feature Nas. All of you bitches have been exposed. Stop it.

    • Mr Flamboyant

Ain't that the gatdamn truth. He said much about nothing and the shit he said is like "man...what the FUCK are you talking about" These bitch ass niggas on here. Man I swear. News flash: Jay-Z has been all about riding coattails for a minute. And he isn't responsible for Kanye...KANYE is responsible for Kanye and DAME DASH is the one who believed in Kanye as an artist. Not Jay. Jay rode dude after he blew up. Real Talk, my ass. Dumb bitch.

    • ETK

well shit son, do you need a tissue? do you need a tissue? are other people's opinions hurting your wee little brain? nobody even knows what the fuck you're balking at, at least refute the point that's sending so much sand up your golf ball vagina, y'know?

  • ETK

pfft what a fuckin hypeman, huh? I'd hire his ass just to talk about my debut album I don't want no WTT 2 though. not that I think it was bad, but it's the kinda stuff that should be left alone. a one-time occurrence. you'd think Jay would hear by now about ppl sayin he's riding Kanye's coattails. Kanye and Jay jerk each other off enough as it is, they just gotta do extra collabos on their LPs and shit'll work out

    • Anonymous

You mad that Nas can't get artists of these caliber for an LP? You'd think Nas would hear by now about ppl sayin he should do an album with Premier or AZ.
