Hip Hop historians and amateur rap researchers may be a little disappointed to hear that Ice Cube didn’t have a particular day in mind when he created the classic 1993 track “It Was A Good Day.”

Ice Cube revealed the news while taking part in an interview promoting his new movie 21 Jump Street.

“You know — it’s a song. It’s a fictional song,” Ice Cube explained to Moviefone. “It’s basically my interpretation of what a great day would be. Do you know what I’m saying? So, you know, it’s a little of this and a little of that. I don’t think you can pinpoint the day…It could have been all of those days.”

While the rapper/actor revealed that it’s quite impossible to pinpoint the exact day featured in the song he did commend those for at least trying, stating that it was a “nice try.”

Earlier this year through a great deal of research a blogger revealed Ice Cube’s “Good Day” to be January 20, 1992. Shortly after another blogger and amateur researcher came forward and shared that November 30, 1988 was the correct day.

Ice Cube revealing that the song is possibly a combination of several days is the closest the rapper has ever gotten to revealing an exact day.
