Diddy Says His Television Network Revolt Will Be "The Number One Name In Music"

Diddy clarifies his recent Oscar win, says his new network Revolt will bring "soul back to music."

Entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs had a few bold statements to make in regards to his new television network Revolt while appearing on The Today Show. On top of stating that Revolt will be “the number one name in music” Diddy also shared that the station will feature music that other networks are afraid to play.

“I started my own new network. It’s called Revolt and it will be the number one name in music,” Diddy explained. “We will play what the others are afraid to play. We’re bringing the soul back to music. So everybody check that.”

Diddy was also sure to clarify that the true winners of the Best Documentary Oscar, which was awarded to Undefeated the film he executive-produced, were T.J. Martin and Daniel Lindsay the directors of the film.

“I want to clarify that T.J. and Daniel are technically the directors of the film. They’re technically the winners,” said Diddy. “I’m like the Martin Scorsese Jr. So everybody just ran with it like I’m the Oscar winner, but these two young, talented, entrepreneurial directors they’re the guys that [won]…This is called Undefeated, it’s about the North Memphis Tigers. It’s about believing in yourself. It’s about this coach that truly believes in these kids more than they believe in themselves. And then they start to believe in their selves. And it becomes addictive in a sense….It’s truly a human drama piece.”

Revolt is expected to debut much later this year while Undefeated is being shown in numerous cities across the country.

Diddy I like you and admire you for your entrepreneurship but why did you have to take my idea son. I want to create a tv station too that plays only stuff that so many are afraid to play, like real grimey hip hop 94 rugged raw (Method Man) lol. An I wanted to put that soul back into it too by putting real music with some values, morals, consciousness, lyrical, storytelling etc. Hope it works out for you Diddy. Can't wait to check it out.

Puff has no soul himself,so how he gonna help bring it back to music?Heres another project that Puff gets credit for for which he didnt do shit.Thats all this weak ass nigga ever did is eat off others talent. He never played instruments on any albums, never wrote rhymes,he dont direct..he got that Biggie money and that was that.Take all that money away and lets see what true talent he got!

  • geminiman7

Sorry I can't congratulate him on starting a new music TV network because it will be just like him - Bubble gum, mainstream rap. Not hip-hop, real, raw & ruggeded. Just bubble gum rap with corny sung choruses by Ashanti and such in every song. Whatever the mainstream media wants to see, Diddo will do. He won't bring back real hip-hop. Real hip-hop criticizes Did.

mmmm will mr #1 sellout provide a medium for real straight rugged raw hiphop... or some mainstream shit? I think we all know the answer to that.

  • buckeyewu

His idea of bringing soul back is probably by playing Danity Kane videos 24 hrs a day. Its not like he's going to play Heltah Skeltah, Doppelgangaz, Ghostface, or Big KRIT videos. He's gonna play a bunch of wack shit that he thinks should be on the radio.

  • hmmm

hmm hopefully he can bring some soul back. doubt that, he sold his soul for money. he getting that money. commercialized music he dropping, wack artists he support. we can hope his network will be dropping gems something like yo raps, mtv base.

@kingtee - No I can't congratulate him starting a new music TV network because it will be just like him - Bubble gum, mainstream rap. Not hip-hop, real, raw & ruggeded. Just bubble gum rap with sung choruses in every song. Whatever the mainstream media wants to see, Diddo will do.

    • buckeyewu

Its probably because dude would still be a backup dancer if it werent for Biggie! lol

    Uhhhh..no it won't...

  • BlazeDatIshUp

I'm all for him being a business man and making that loot, but I wonder if we are gonna have to see him dancing around and hear him say 'take that, take that' before and after every video. He's probably just gonna put music on that he likes, and not what the real hip hop heads wanna see. It's basically gonna be the same as bet.

  • Don P

This dude is unreal, he really knows how to make money. Congrats Diddy

Diddys a bussiness man..theres a huuge market for real shit..my bet js thats what hes goin for look at all the people that hate ymcmb on just this site..

  • chillin

Something tells me that this channel is not going to bring back the soul, but will be just another minstrel show network, like BET. Instead of seeing Diddy's ugly ass a few times a day, you'll get to see his ugly face every 5 mins.

  • YESSIR

I SEE DIDDY WILL BE PLAYING THAT YMCMB MUSIC ON HIS NEW CHANNEL WAIT TILL THE NEW SIGNINS ARE ANNOUNCED AND REMEMBER TEENA MARIE PUT OUT AN ALBUM ON YMCMB

  • Do it

Diddy knows what he's doing. This should be good. Also for those sleeping hard, check out Red Cafe's mixtape, the shit bangs.

Why do we need another "tv" station dedicated to music? Is that all these muthafuckas think we want is corn-ball ass music videos? I really thought he was going to bring some substance to the community/culture with this move. Why cant we have a real tv station like everyone else. Evening news....sitcoms....late night shows? It would be nice to come home from work in the evening and see Tavis Smiley reporting the news, an updated version of New York Undercover and end the evening with a honey watching Late Night with Arsenio. I have come to regret supporting those early Bad Boy records since this is what came of it.

    • BooYaaow

I see your point but at the end of the day Diddy is in the music industry so of course his focus is on that. Plus he's more experienced in that field. As far as sitcoms honestly black shows needs better writers first of all. They keep runnin the same formula and it's not working. Same thing with alot of movies.

  • Suge Knight

LOL pure garbage of MGK to Red Cafe to French Montana and his garbage ass

  • Max

This is a good move. Finally some music on a music tv station

  • Ayyo

To whoever wrote this article, please fix the title and the first sentence. The entire time I'm thinking he is starting a revolt or something.

  • YM KILLA

BRING BACK SOUL IN MUSIC??? SO THAT MEANS DIDDY WONT PLAY ANY YMCMB MMG RIGHT??? IF SO I MIGHT CHECK IT OUT
